Well, it is a curse.
Maybe there will be crystal-less alts.
I dunno if I consider the animation in Guilt Gear Xrd to be particularly amazing either.
Looks good to me.
For a forum that prides itself on valuing gameplay over graphics, the amount of whining about them choosing not to go with an outdated method of producing graphics that would limit the gameplay breadth they can achieve at a given budget is surprising.
Well yeah, given unlimited time you can produce good results with anything.
A kickstarter project doesn't have unlimited time or resources. As such, using one of the very best tools in the business (UE4) is a huge point in its favour.
For a second there, I thought this was Bloodborne DLC XD
Still excited for this though.
Is "Igavania" a thing? I thought people referred to them as "Metroidvania" games?
Yeah, but Inafune isn't attached to this one
The game is under development by Igarashi and Inti Creates, the studio best known for its contributions to the Megaman series (including Mega Man 9 and Mega Man Zero, among others) and Mighty No. 9, the Kickstarted game by former Capcom R&D head Keiji Inafune
For fuck's sake.
Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Little Big Planet, Puppeteer, Super Smash Bros for Wii U, hell, even Street Fighter IV (Which was a step down from Street Fighter III, but fucking everything is a step down from Street Fighter III), all very good-looking 2.5D games.
And then you have games with pre-rendered sprites like Rare's Donkey Kong Country titles that people adore even though they're intentionally given the appearance of 3D models on 2D backgrounds.
It's up on here too: http://swordorwhip.com/
Ah, cool. The creator of Dust: An Elysian Tail just backed at the weapon tier - he's going to try to get Dust's talking sword in.![]()
To be fair, with 2017 as the release date, Wii U was irrelevant from the get go.
Igavania is more accurate and less using copyrighted terms.
The lack of handheld versions, be it Vita or n3DS, have deflated most of my hype![]()
I can't believe people are somehow using UE4 as a negative point in this thread.
Seriously, UE4 is fantastic. Not only is it an amazing engine technically, it also offers an extremely productive toolchain.
It being used should give you a huge confidence boost in both the game's technical quality and the team's ability to make effective use of their time to produce content.
There's no reassurance a 2D game looks great either. Just that it will cost a lot to produce varied high-resolution 2D assets.
I will just leave this here

$60 tier backed! I will most likely pledge more when I get more spending money!
Yes please!Nice. Shovel Knights Shovel should totally be a weapon of choice in Bloodstained.

I.. I see. It's just that Aria of Sorrow was my favourite and...I think Iga probably had the most fun and freedom making Order of Ecclesia? Maybe that had something to do with it?
I will just leave this here
Also Iga has said that his inspiration wasn't metroid, but Zelda. He hates the term 'Metroidvania'.
I thought Dracula x chronicles looked cheap but it was. It wore its frugality well. It nailed the style. And importantly, the 2.5d played just like the 2d. I think we need to move on. Iga isn't going to make a 2d game for less than 5mm.
Importantly I think people need to scale back expectations. xrd probably cost way more than iga is going to get. I think people should just accept that this will not be a looker but should play fine. I just don't see how this could look right on a shoestring budget. All the 2d games are doing the NES style. Not like sf3 style.
for a 2d game? reallly?

As they should.Just said on Twitch that there's going to be a backer survey very early on to try and get the 2.5d style just right for the backers. Name dropping GGX like crazy.![]()
I want David Hayter you mongrels. Don't let me down!
They're just the development team. They wokred on MN9. Inafune is the founder of Comcept, he doesn't work for Inti.I will just leave this here
