Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

I just want to see this:

Well, maybe the game is early enough where they can scrap the existing concept art and have it get re-done with Kojima, but IMO what they have now isn't bad at all.

Maybe the game will hit such a high tier of KS backer money that they'll be able to afford to wait until Kojima is available again, but then the question would be, would the fans be able to wait?

I find it remarkable that there is no official Nintendo version. Almost every 2D Castlevania has appeared on a Nintendo system!
Well, it's not 2D, and not Castlevania.

And UE4 simply works out of the box on PC, PS4 and XB1. It doesn't on any current Nintendo platform.

I might pick up the IGAvania titles I'm missing seeing as this is a while off. Then again at the rate this is chewing through funding I might even up my pledge is some really interesting stretch goals crop up past the mil mark.

No it's not.

I can say this with absolute 100% confidence. Why?
Because if everyone thought like that, some of my very favourite recent games would never have been made..

Divinity: Original Sin, and Pillars of Eternity right?

I think the main thing is people need to realize that Kickstarters are used to fund development to actually get it started.

I think it's generally unrealistic to expect people to see existing game footage for a project that is in it's conceptual stages that may not even have money gained for said work to be done in the first place.

It's not like Iga has publisher giving him a up front advance to whip up something.

Some times I wonder if people mistakenly assume that Kickstarter is some sort of a pre-order program and not realize it really is just a plea with an unwritten promise and no guarantee that may successfully raise the money needed for said development in the first place.

It's not like that's likely be a problem with this project though. I mean it's basically 33k short of reaching it's intended goal.

So only when it ends, not when the initial $500,000 is reached? Just want to be clear lol

Yup.

Every project creator sets their project's funding goal and deadline. If people like the project, they can pledge money to make it happen. If the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal, all backers' credit cards are charged when time expires. If the project falls short, no one is charged. Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing.

I just went and opened the page and before I really knew what was happening the pledge number starting flying upward.

Go get the Wii U port out of the mystical basement and we'll talk.
Yeah, not sure about that basement comment. If the game is UE4 (is it?) then it just wouldn't be possible. It wouldn't be the same game if it were made.

2 million.

Super Nintendo version complete with cart.

They clearly tried to get Kojima but she wasn't available. They aren't going to sit with their thumbs up their asses for 6-12 months to wait till she's free. They gotta eat and to do that they gotta work.

Why are people doggin on Inti Creates? I really liked Gunvolt and with Iga there to direct, they can only do better.

I can agree that the art style needs to be a little darker though.

Well, it's not Castlevania so it's given. But it does *feel*a bit odd. A Castlevania-styled Igvania game from the man himself.

But damn, 2017.....

Kinda hoping sooner, and it'd be the opposite of what happened to Mighty No. 9. That got a delay; I hope this gets pushed earlier.

But that's assuming the stars align and they nail the design.

I thought Igarashi was teasing a new castlevania from Konami, wtf? In any case, I'm backing this shit. I really thought Konami was doing something good after all the bullshit that's been happening, but I guess not.

Considering what has had to happen with the portable version of Mighty No. 9, I don't think it's entirely outside of the realm of possibility that they would do a reworked port of the game for the Wii U.

Couldn't they use Dracula if they wanted to? Isn't Dracula public domain?

I was thinking the same thing, they just need to call it something else.

I wish there was another game like castlevania 4 but with things from SoN.

IMO Super Castlevania 4 was the best. I stopped playing when they went 3d and those anime castlevania's were not for me.

Wasn't available while doing what? What has she done in the past few years? It's pretty clear that she just said no.

You mean the same company that is firing his last notable director/producer, canceled Silent Hills and removed from existence the demo and buried Hudson alive to get their IP and make them pachinko machines all this is an incredibly clear effort to get out of the traditional gaming market?

Yes, that was very likely to happen.

I've never backed a kickstarter before, never thought I would, but this is the most tempted I've ever been. One of my favorite genres by the master himself, and a physical PS4 copy to boot. Well it'll hit its goal in an hour with or without me and there's time to decide.

I assume that since they're offering a physical copy to backers that it will also get a wide retail release upon completion, surely.
