Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

kickstarting a game before they show some gameplay is a bad idea imo.
No it's not.

I can say this with absolute 100% confidence. Why?
Because if everyone thought like that, some of my very favourite recent games would never have been made.

Amazing.

I backed this so quickly I think I got whiplash.

I have loved all of Iga's games since the original Castlevania. IGAvania/Metroidvania games are one of my all time favorite genres.

I am all in. Backed for the signed collectors box and have zero regrets.

Found quite late in life that I really love this style of game, from my experiences with Ori and Guacamelle. I think it's time for me to try Castlevania out, what is the best one?

I'm with you on that. Not to be mean to Wiiu or 3ds people, I myself have more games on each of those systems then on any other current gen system, but because I don't want the game held back by it.
Yeah, that's my exact reasoning.

If they make a game for PC/PS4/XB1, those are pretty much 1 platform when using UE4, and they can be laser-focused on making it the best possible experience.

What "Reward Tier" gets unlocked by creating a popular jiff for this game? Don't forget to use the hashtag.

Well damn, I had took a nap for the past hour and a half and it's already passed 450k.

They'll hit their goal in only like a few hours, I wonder if it will hit their stretch goals today too! :O

We're all thirsty!

I was pretty worried that this wouldn't be funded. Glad to see people are so receptive to a true and proper Castlevania.

I should nab a copy of Ecclesia one of these days.

I just went and opened the page and before I really knew what was happening the pledge number starting flying upward.

Go get the Wii U port out of the mystical basement and we'll talk.

Does Kickstarter charge right away? Don't have the funds in my account yet but I will when this finishes. If it does right away I'll wait but if it doesn't then I'll pledge now.

I just had this same question...

It's interesting to me that nowhere on the page or video is the name "Castlevania" mentioned. I'm guessing its to avoid legal problems, but you'd think Iga would at least be able to mention the game among his past accomplishments to gain credibility from potential backers that aren't familiar with him.

Either Symphony of the Night, or Aria/Dawn of Sorrow (can't remember which of the Sorrow I preferred at this point, though - I like OoE a lot too, but that's a wee bit different). Symphony is the most widely available these days, so I'd probably go for that, even if I prefer the feel of the later GBA/DS games.

If they can make a game look near as good as that concept art, it'll be something to see. Guilty Gear proved it can be done. I can see real benefits in terms of crazy visual effects you could add in a 2.5D style side scroller with GG like graphics.

Konami just took down a fan video, because it was speculating in the whole Kojima vs Konami stuff.

I wouldn't take any risk if I was Iga.

Tempted to back it. I'm not a huge fan of Metroidvania (I prefer the linear games much more) but I gotta' emphasize that I'm tempted.
