Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

man, they keep reiterating that they want to style it like guilty gear to really make it looks great in 3d and that's almost convincing me to back it...

Mighty no.9 is telling me no but my heart is telling me yes.

Oh yeah, the Hayter thing itself is gonna be huge for both fans and everything that's happened recently. Can't wait to see all the stretch goals.

so much this, you know they brought Hayter on because of it.

and for the record, you've kinda gotta feel bad for Iga, they've got him playing a game in full english and he can't understand the tutorial stuff, yet they take forver to explain to him, lol.

And, kinda wish I had an xbox to play this shadow complex game.

So... Wii U will probably be a stretch goal? I wonder if handhelds are going to be considered.

Amazing that it was funded so fast~

Can someone explain to me the difference between the developers comcept and Inticreates?

Are they all under one roof? Are the same dudes who are making Mighty No. 9 making this? (Please no)
They're completely different studios. Mighty No 9 is codeveloped by Comcept and Inti Creates.

Never played Shadow Complex but just looking at it, I hope IGA won't get his inspiration from this. All 2D, and no gameplay breaking action like a a takedown.
Play it. The world design is very good.

Easy solution: Just wait until they release some actual gameplay footage. The project's already funded, so you'll have the chance to buy it later.

MN9 is just one game, with a different director, building off of a different legacy.

Don't let any apprehension you have towards MN9 scare you away from Bloodstained.

Guilty Gear Xrd graphics are an absolute FUCK YES for me.

About to hit 600K. I wish the hardcover book and the second playable character were reversed, but at this rate we will get both.

Stretch goals aren't always tied to how much extra money they will cost. I doubt it costs them $100k to upgrade the artbook. On the same note, it probably costs them at least 200K extra to make another playable character. So I'm not sure they could be realistically swapped. There is also logic in putting things people REALLY want at higher goals then things they want less :P

At the very least, regardless of how this game turns out, it means they are taking the Mighty No. 9 feedback seriously.

I hope the 700k tier includes online co-op, not just local.

And I hope it's not co op at all, but just a second choice of a character that you can play in a fully single player game. :3

Too bad for me I think co op was mentioned in a video/stream. :c

I'm happy for IGA that this got funded and I'm curious how it will turn out.

Normally, this would be totally my thing as I love Metroidvanias but I'm kinda put off by the style. I was never exactly a fan of the more Anime-ish Igavanias. Going to wait a couple of days and think about it...

That was a great kickstarter video! It made me want to pitch in, but then:

Holy shit $28 minimum for a copy of the game?

O_O . $28 is excessive. Would've contributed at $20.

The Hayter stretch goal it's a "fuck you" double-combo directed at Konami, lol.

Konami had nothing to do with Hayter. That was Kojima's doing. Full stop.

Watch the "secret stretch goal" be the involvement of Kojima, for shits and giggles!

Kojima is going to get much more lucrative offers to direct. No way he gets involved with this :)

So, recap:

4:36: $500,000 reached
5:38: $600,000 reached

If this keeps up ($100,000 per hour), it will meet all of the stretch goals today

Iga better throw up some additional stretch goals today so as to not lose momentum. A third character, more modes, music, weapons, swordchucks, bosses or in-game areas. Something. Or an Ayami Kojima goal. Then watch the backing skyrocket even further.

Inticreates was a company formed in 1996 by a bunch of Capcom devs who used to work on Mega Man X series. They proceeded to develop a whole bunch of different games, including Zero and ZX series for Capcom. Comcept is Inafune's own company created after his resignation from Capcom. Obviously they're close-knit, but while MN9 was developed by Comcept with help from Inti, Bloodstained is all Inti it would seem.

So, on the one hand, I want the game on PC, and I want the physical copy... but I assume the PC physical copy is just a steam key + an install disc... not something that will last in the post-internet apocalypse. If I do the 125 tier, can I get the PS4 physical and the PC digital?

I don't even own a PS4, but I kinda want a physical copy that will always run forever.

Comcept is Keiji Inafune's production company; they create and produce ideas for and with other publishers and studios but they don't really make games entirely on their own. As far as I can tell, Comcept is not officially involved with this game.

Inti Creates is an independent studio founded by ex-Capcom people in the mid-90s; they're separate from but affiliated with Comcept due to their work on MN9 and their long history of developing Mega Man games for Capcom. They're not a huge studio, so you can expect there to be some crossover between MN9 staff and those who end up working on Bloodstained.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with their little teaser of: "hat said, we've heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement..."

So sounds like they're cooking up something

The additional stretch goals are unlocked by doing the achievements, which may have been a mistake depending on how long it takes them to update those achievement tallies. Already gotten a few of them that aren't marked.

In the space of me seeing this thread and flipping out about an hour and a half ago and now the fund has gone up by about $150k.

Pretty nuts.

Backed with extreme quickness, but just for the base game.

I'm a little bummed that I'll have to play it on PC (not by much, since my PC is "comfy couch" enabled), mostly because their excuse is trash. They are not making a game that won't run on Wii U (or X360/PS3, for that matter).

The pitch video was great though, the wine glass toss was class.

Two Kickstarters in one day (the other being for Archie comics), after a LONG stretch of nothing on there for me.

Isn't Inti doing a seperate version of MN9 for the 3DS? Maybe they have something similar planned for Bloodstained.

They do have two levels of stretch goals. I imagine they planned for the castle ones to get finished quickly since they have the "dungeon" stretch goals planned as well.

Then there's the 50 achievement "bonus" stretch goal which could be anything. @_@

I believe he was talking about Ayami Kojima. As in the character designer / artist for Symphony of the Night, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow.

Not the Metal Gear guy, Hideo Kojima

Thank you, I appreciate all the responses.

Gives me a bit more hope for this game since I am not a fan of what I've seen so far of MN9... Who knows maybe once I play it my opinion will change though.

Looks great, but I'm disappointed it won't be coming to Wii U. I'll be interested to see how it turns out, though. Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to play it.

This KS is quite complex, but it's actually said directly there are extra stretch goals and so on, they are however dependent on freemiumy "backer achievements" (1000 likes on Facebook and so on) that are more or less sure to be reached (some already are, but they didn't update it).

Graphics backlash

There's also the thing with people not being super big on the different gameplay style from megaman. the emphasis on charging a dash attack to kill enemies....at least they funded that zero character with a publisher, so you can have a GOOD gameplay style. Sword gameplay has always been super fun in megaman games because it speeds up gameplay in a stylish way.

I assume those that are getting the physical edition will be getting the PC version? The xbone and PS4 branding looks hideous compared to the clean PC case.
