Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

So are the T2's that people are getting now, from a previous run that got held up by the port strike? The T2 that I've been looking at is a pre-order, that's not suppose to release until the end of May. So I'm wondering if that's the case. Previous stock sold out, held up by the strike, got damaged. Next batch coming out at the end of May...and should be ok?

Anyone here using PS360+ on a PC? If i leave my PS360+ arcade stick connected to PC and then turn on PC, the stick isn't recognized. I have to unplug and replug the stick while its turned on. Is this how its supposed to work? I'm on ver1.4.

I'm wondering if there's a way to have it recognized at boot.

Yesterday I remembered that I ordered a Sanwa stick for my TE-S years ago because the stick in that one is very loose now. I never switched it though because the older TE sticks were more of pain to open up and I had already retired the stick in favor of the Qanba Q4 RAF. Luckily that extra stick finally came in handy. I replaced the Hayabusa stick with the Sanwa on my VLX because I'm just not a fan of the Hayabusa's looser feel. I'm also sill not feeling the Kuro buttons so I'll be replacing that as well with Sanwa buttons. Throw in the plexi for the TE2 and I'm spending even more than I would have liked to after already dropping $500 on the two sticks. But gotta do what I gotta do to get them exactly the way I like them.

The paint chipping issues on the VLX still scare me since I was a owner of the original VLX and had the same problems. Can any of you guys recommend some kind of clear coating I could use to make sure the paint doesn't chip? Or any other suggestions addressing this issue?

Is the artwork under the plexi glossy? It might not be moisture, there's a name for that weird rainbow effect that happens when two pieces of plastic press against each other, I cannot remember what it is though

Got the blue sanwa buttons from arcadeshock.

Need to get the art reprinted. Hate how purple it came out.

So many crybabies in this thread, especially over dimples in the VLX sheet metal and easily touched up scratches, let alone the rainbow effect from where two materials touch.

EVERY VLX HAS DIMPLES, if you look hard enough. Even my Vewlix cabinet has them in certain spots, and for the paint scratches, use a tooth pick and a cap of satin black spray paint and fill in the scratches.

Yeah, it's pretty weird how people buying an expensive showcase controller get annoyed when it has imperfections that make it look less attractive

Does the TE2 for PS4/PS3 have a touchpad? I read somewhere it doesn't but pics seem to show a small one in the upper right. However it also looks like it's on the XBox One version so I don't know if it's a touchpad or not.

These sticks still far exceed anything in a lower price bracket in spite of these benign ass "flaws". Maybe you guys shouldnt buy them if you dont have the skillset to fix these minor ass problems.

You can't buy a 50 million dollar Gulfstream with out dimples, or a Bentley without a swirl mark, or a new Cadillac without a scratch or orange peel.

First world problem mofos

Yes because spending $200 on a controller means you should really be settling for problems that spending even more money can solve.

Fucking nitpickey biatch

Way to keep it classy, "mofo".

Anyways your rant is idiotic. People have a right to complain about issues. This informs other consumers so we can make informed choices.

Manufacturing and choice of materials all are things that manufacturers must account for in their design. If these manufacturers want to charge premium prices, then it's not unreasonable for consumers to expect more and call them out on shit.

Why do we have to learn how to fix a manufacturing fault, when we should not have to deal with it in the first place? Mentalities like yours are why companies get away with bullshit.

You must have a lot of friends.

I'd die for a white VLX...completely white body and buttons to match my white PS4. How about one of you digital artists do a mock up to help us visualize what a dream like that would look like. Make my week please.

They already have made the white side panels with the OG VLX, the white body with the Diamond and the white kuros from the FE. A man can hope.

That would be hot.

Does anyone know if the white gamerfingers are translucent like that black ones or solid? I want to get some white ones for my VLX but I am not sure if the white will clash with the color tones the stick has.

I have the VLX. The painted metal is fine. It's not cheap painted metal, it's not invulnerable Kryptonian painted metal either, it's just painted metal that can be refinished if need be. My Civic costs a lot more and has the same possible issues. I still buy Civics. Unless they start making VLXs out of super resin bowling ball material the finish can be damaged if you are not careful. In return you get a stick that is far more substantial than a mere plastic stick. There are Pros and Cons as a plastic stick can't recover from a scratch at all. And you can't get a pure black look from polished metal.

That said I want a super resin bowling ball stick now. Because why not.

I think you're on to something here....

It does not have a touchpad.

So how does that work with games that use it? You're just out of luck? Like in MKX if you're playing King of the Hill (aka the only version of quarter mode the game offers that I can tell), you hit the touchpad to toggle full-screen or windowed. There's no way to do this via an option menu or anything.

I think Xrd uses the touchpad as well for some minor stuff. How does that work?

I'm sort of at a loss as to how they'd outright omit a controller button on a 200 dollar stick.

Putting LS-56 spring into HRAP4 Kai, am I meant to replace the existing spring or work it in with the existing one.

Will it make the stick tighter by itself?

I dunno about the TE2 but using a TE1 in MKX, select acts as the touch pad button press.

Just started playing some KOTH matches, and came in to ask this because I was thinking about ordering a Hori Fighting Commander 4 with no touchpad.

Have you tried going into the options menu and changing the pause delay setting? I think that allows you to double tap the start button to reset in training. (hold to pause). Maybe it works that way in KOTH mode too.

So annoying Sony killed the select button.

Hey guys,

So I have an original TE stick for Xbox 360. Do you guys any way to mod it so I can use for the PS4? I think I have seen it for PS3/PS4 dual mod but not sure if I have seen anything for X360/PS4 dual mod.

Separately, I believe someone may have mentioned about a contact at Shoryuken forums who may be able to do a dual-mod.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My friend, EJM, has a "do-it-yourself" PS4 padhack. You just drop it in and do the wiring yourself.

Gummowned on srk also does dual mods. The only way to get a stick working on ps4/xb1 is through padhacks.

Definitely worth a try. I'm so happy the VLX has the touchpad because I have been playing a lot of KOTH lately.

I want a custom hitbox so badly. I think I'm going to try building one once the stuff for PS4/Xbone comes out. I kinda want the original Hitbox setup, but with an extra "UP" above the 3 buttons for L,D,R kinda like a WASD. Should be fun to build since I've never built anything like this before.

No idea, but I say give it a try anyway. I was actually thinking of getting white buttons and swapping in black plungers (so the rims would match the white outlines on the faceplate), but I'm happy with the look of the all black buttons for now.

I'm currently tri-modding my two VS fight sticks with a MC Cthulhu with IMP V2, MKX XBOX fight pad, and a PS4 hori fight commander pad combo. Both sticks were originally dual mods of MC Cthulhu and 360, but I recently added mkx xbox pads to both sticks by taking out the old 360 fightpads. Now I'm waiting for the ps4 pads to arrive in the mail.

Both sticks have two switches, which are placed inside the conceal compartments along with a rj45 feed through. The smaller toggle switch on the right controls D+, D- wires from the imp v2 to the ps4 pad and the xbox pad, and the larger toggle switch controls the state mode on the xbox pad. All three controller pcbs will be connected to the imp v2, so I can have them all connected to the rj45 feed through. Here is a video of me testing out the MKX xbox pad inside one of the VS sticks. I switch from MC Cthulhu to 360 to Xbox One.

The two VS sticks are in the following image along with two dual modded (MC Cthulhu and 360 combo) HRAP sticks, and two KOF XII sticks that I plan to mod with JLF joysticks and PS360+ pcbs with rj45 feed throughs.

The white HBFS-G2 buttons are solid, not translucent.

Thanks so much! I appreciate it.

i can vouch for gummo. he sold me a TE-S a few years back with a MCCthulhu (so I can use it on 360, PS3, PC, and whole bunch of classic consoles). shit is immaculate. definitely recommended.

I can't figure out how to switch in/out of theater mode without using the touchpad. Delayed pause on in MK doesn't work.

So with a TE2 or the Hori FC4 pad, I guess you're out of luck, unless I'm missing something.
