The Witcher 3 | Review Thread

That IGN review doesn't match the score they gave it. It's just i as I thought, 100 hours with loads of padding and meaningless fetch quests, exactly the same as dragon Age Inquisition. The first paragraph was about how huge the open world was.. Same as da:I. Combine this with the shitty UI and inventory system means it's not a purchase for me.

So now I'm wondering if I totally misjudged this series. I played about an hour of the first Witcher game and got bored. Never tried the second game...

First game is shit.
Second game is good

There is always the odd man out or two, no matter how great a game is.

After a certain notable and critically acclaimed AAA RPG from last year left me feeling extremely cold, I'm particularly interested to see the opinion of any reviewer who both a) enjoyed this and b) thought Dragon Age: Inquisition was a wee bit shite.

Wait, no Xbox review copies? But it's advertised with Xbox lol

Can we expect some reviewers to boost scores if Xbox performs better? Or will 900p cancel that out?

Also, if this was reviewed with the patch... will PS4 receive another one or are we stuck with the framerate?
I don't think reviews can be boosted.

To be fair it should be lower due framerate issues but seems like reviewers don't care if the game have big issues or not.

While you certainly have a point, saying that in a thread dedicated to reviewers putting numbers out and generally hyping people around seem fairly counter-intuitive, don't you think?

No. "Hype culture" is bullshit. You can be excited for a game and talk about the various reviews, but devoting time and energy to REALLY WANTING TO BUY A THING and bludgeoning other people with those opinions isn't something worth preserving.

so much for all that 'little to no fetch quests' promise CDPR :(

Looking at some posts here, every small quest is considered a fetch quest.
To me, escorting a goat or finding a missing hat (considering it's probably going to be well written and with some degree of choice) doesn't sound like DA:I quests.

Do any of these reviews explain if your Witcher 2 save will carry on and if so, how much it affects the game? Things ended kinda fucked in my game

They reviewed the PS4 version, so by definition their saves can't carry on. There's no way to import a save from 360 or PC to PS4. The game does have a sort of Q&A event section near the beginning where you can answer what happened and what you chose for Witcher 2.

Also,
things end kinda fucked in every play through of Witcher 2, lol

Jeff don't like Witcher 3?

He must hate games! He as wrong opinions!

Ffs folks.

Seems like reviewers will get crucified here if they say or write something you don't like.

Guy needs a vacation from games.... his GOTY for 2014 was Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Surprise, someone who has never enjoyed the witcher games and doesn't really seem all that into open world RPGs in general isn't having his world rocked by TW3.

First game is shit.
Second game is good

Nah way, the first game had some mad eurojank but it was an engrossing charming game. Combat was pretty dull though.

well they did say the side quests wouldnt be fetch quests, and they were right, they just stuffed them into the story lol.

I'd be interested to see that as well. DAI didn't appeal to me at all.

Kotaku mentioned the patch was installed on a debug console but GameTrailers said a patch is coming.

*shrugs*

If CDPR have plans to release another patch that will increase performance in the near future then I'll happily sit on the game until then. I just want a concrete answer. :(
