Red Rings of Death / Microsoft / Warranty question

I got the three red rings.

I am not sure when I purchased my console (sometime in 2006 is all I know).

I'm on the phone with Microsoft, they are saying it is out of the 3 year warranty window and I have to pay $119. I say "what is my purchase date?"

They have no clue. I am disputing that I don't know either, but since they don't know, I feel that it is still within the 3 years (I know, I have a shitty argument here).

This will be my third 360. Should I just hang up and do the clamp fix myself? Im still on hold, the lady is getting a supervisor because I refuse to hang up until I get the date of my console (i'm just angry, I have no need for this date that I know of). Would it be bad to lie and say I have receipt that shows I purchased my 360 sometime in later 2006? (I'm guessing I could photoshop this or find someone elses receipt)

I believe Microsoft goes by manufacturing date but i'm not 100% sure. If i were you i'd just buy a new arcade if they're making you pay for repairs. I dunno if there are any sales on the xbox 360 arcades in the states but right now in Canada the arcades are going for $150 i'll be it they are all falcons.

Unfortunately, agents are never provided direct visibility into a customer's original console purchase date. I know from your subscription history that you migrated your V1 account over to your X360 console back in December 2005 so the 3-year rule is being correctly enforced in this case.

You can try to doctor a receipt to contest your warranty but I don't expect it'll work out in your favor.

Did you check the date online? at Xbox.com? I didn't know mine, but it showed me there.

Mine wasn't registered on the site for whatever reason :\

The lady on the phone claimed it was outside the three year date.

She hung up on me and said I need to prove it is within the three years :(

Mods: Please change thread title to - "Donate scan of Xbox 360 console purchase receipt dated between today and December 31st 2006"

fuck :(

listen, heres what you say when they give you shit

put your supervisor on

speak to the supervisor and say your 360 is broken and you know it happens all the time because you changed your warranty just to cater to it, you bought your 360 within the 3 year period and you want it sorted or you will complain to ms head office

it will get done

then phone back when your 360 is done using your phone call reference number and call the person a cunt. that'll show em!

you registered your first achievements with your gamertag may 29/06 with GRAW, so chances are you were just barely out of the 3 year period.

Good scoopin. I see I had Call of Duty 2 achievements as early as May (which I believe is the first 360 game I've played).

Bah!

Lock thread lest I complain and cry moar here, there is no longer a reason for this to exist. I think I'll try and pop the thing open and do the clamp mod shit (unless it is too late to do that now too).

don't quit yet, it's still shitty that they're charging you when they don't even know when you purchased your system. Keep fighting!
