‘Project Cars’ (-64%) holds on to No1 for a second week to become the first Bandai Namco title to do so since ‘Ridge Racer Type 4’ over 16 years ago.

Stand-alone expansion ‘Wolfenstein: The Old Blood’ from Bethesda debuts at No2 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Despite having been launched digitally on May 5th, the boxed versions debut strongly in the chart, especially the PS4 version which takes a 67% share compared to Xbox One’s 27%. ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-25%) makes way, dropping one place to No3, however this is not going to trouble Take 2/Rockstar’s record breaker as it has now passed 5 million sales in the UK. ‘Mortal Kombat X’ (-28%) also slips one place, down to No4, ahead of a re-entry for Square-Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster’ which rebounds back into the chart at No5 thanks to the launch of a PS4 version. Big hitters ‘FIFA 15’ (-24%) and ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ (-16%) both look comfortable in the Top 10 at No’s 6 and 7 respectively.

More previous No1s occupy the final 3 Top 10 places with ‘Dying Light’ (-33%) down 3 places to No8, ‘Destiny’ (+0%) up one place to No9 and ‘Battlefield Hardline’ (-34%) down 3 places to No10. Bandai Namco could well be celebrating three 3 weeks at No1 next week as ‘Project Cars’ goes up against another of their own titles, ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’.

Pcars doing well and the WiiU version isn't even out yet. Good to see such an unconventionally produced game having some success, even if it's in a slow season.

Is this good or bad?

Did really well considering the PS3 (particularly) and Vita versions debuted well last year IIRC.

Especially considering the PS3 version has been available really cheaply for ages too. But we must remember that with PS4 they've picked up a lot of 360 owners who might not have ever played FFX.

Better than most recent remasters and Type-0 I think, although we don't have solid numbers.

Final Fantasy Type-0 did much better since it sold over 20,000 units, 15,600 (78%) for the PlayStation 4 version.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is below Grand Theft Auto V (all formats), which means it is below 11,700 units.

Nice to see Get to Work still in the top 40. The game was released two weeks before GTA V PC, which already dropped out of the chart lol.

Ah, damn you misleading chart positions when things are slow!

Wait a few weeks, it's a Squeenix game, price will plummet.

Yup. Got type 0 for £20 only a few weeks later. If this has no legs (which is likely), it will drop fast.

The audience for Sims games is probably made up mostly of people who don't know how to download games digitally. It's sort of like that joke about Country music topping the charts in the US before digital sales were included in music charts.

Nah, smartphones have narrowed that knowledge gap I think. You can pretty much buy it in-game.

Yeah, that's why EA decided to make stuff packs digital only this time around (FYI, all previous stuff packs in the franchise were also sold in retail stores.)

Seems a few Nintendo titles saw a bump this week, was there a bundle or offers?

MK8 is back in the charts, MP10 saw a healthy bump (as much as one in the lower part of the chart during a slow period can be) and Kirby is up too.

Grand Theft Auto V has crossed 5 million units in the UK. Bear in mind that this figure is not extrapolated to 100% of the market that's why it's lower than what we have in our estimates.

2013 - 3,670,234 (100%) / 3,303,211 (90%)
2014 - 1,341,472 (100%) / 1,274,398 (95%)
2015 - 456,238 (100%) / 433,426 (95%)

Total - 5,467,944 (100%) / 5,011,035 (90% and 95%)

Good tracking Bruno :)

‘Project Cars’ (-64%) holds on to No1 for a second week to become the first Bandai Namco title to do so since ‘Ridge Racer Type 4’ over 16 years ago.

This just goes to show how badly documented UK release dates are, Wikipedia gives a date of September 1st 1999 for Ridge Racer Type 4, GameFAQs which is generally more reliable only has the year (1999), as does *****.com, which is fairly reliable for UK dates back to a certain amount of time. In reality it first charted in the week ending 17th April 1999, spending three weeks at #1 before getting knocked off by Grand Theft Auto: London, 1969 in the week ending May 8th 1999. Thats another one where no correct UK release date is documented. As UK releases were always on a Friday until recently when global release dates for big releases became more common then the actual release date for Ridge Racer Type 4 was April 16th 1999, and for Grand Theft Auto: London, 1969 was May 7th 1999.

Edit: Don't know why that site is censored, they have a great database of UK releases which was directly linked to from the titles in ELSPA's charts in the past.

Despite Wolfenstein's retail release for Xbone a little later, sales split is huge.

PCARS, MKX, Wolfenstein and FF all over 60% in PS4 favor recently.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. But are they "substantial" digital only packs or just DLC? I think the smallest retail pack I ever saw was that Ikea furniture one.

I wonder how other publishers are looking at this split.

Will we see fewer smaller budget games getting a physical release on X1? We're already seeing some games PS4 exclusive GoTY editions in certain regions...

Doubt it'll happen in the UK but i could see smaller european markets getting PS4/PC versions only.

Really feels like in UK (for the moment anyway) Xbox One sales favour exclusives (i.e. its owners are mainly using the console to play exclusives) vs PS4 which seems to have the momentum with third party titles (obviously as BB shows exclusives are selling well on it in UK too).

Seems like so far Sony has more of the general market mind-share and Xbox is still relying more on loyal franchise fans.

Overall install base for Xbox is decent though so it'll be interesting to see if this is set in stone or if MS can attract a greater percentage of those buying a console for general gaming (i.e. the far larger library of multi-plat titles).

Witcher will be interesting as MS has the marketing rights.

I think it will end up like dragon age.

The ps4 version is tracking higher than the xbone version on amazon and shopto also there was that guy from last week who said the ps4 version is ahead of the xbox version in his region in game according to a manager.

Witcher will be interesting as MS has the marketing rights.

The marketing rights seem to be a waste of time for MS. The Playstation youtube channels/blogs etc are full of Witcher videos add to the fact all reviews are reporting they have only played the PS4 version. The Xbox One version is also not getting any extra content (see Destiny)

I would expect PS4 to have the larger share of the sales, as is the case with all multi platform titles.

Why are you guys saying Wolfy released later on Xbone? I thought it deployed after the digital version on both formats?

I believe they mean it got announced later for physical on xbox. The ps4 retail version was announced when the old blood was announced. The xbox retail version was announced a few weeks after that.
