Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Relevant... sort of

Really though nice comparison

I want you to know I watched that whole video to see the reference.

I couldn't be sure if it was terrible or hilarious. By the end, I was dying.
HE ATE THE ICE CREAM!

Mostly joking guys, I know what was intended by the post I responded to.

No worries.. I'm legitimately wondering what combat against humans would be like. I would think it'd just feel wrong.. But who knows?

I wonder if all of this will be playable in Halo5?

'Cos if it's not and you're a casual who isn't following this, then you're gunna be confused.

I'm sure they will go some way to explaining it in the game, but I really hope it's playable. I wanna play as Chief the bad ass!

If Phil LaMarr isn't a big part of Halo 5, I'm going to be mad.

Great stuff again!

More than convinced now that Fero is Osman - Poodlestrike's theory makes the most sense to me, it all fits with the whole Kilo 5 intrigue stuff.

M'Shak is BB.

Shit's going down! I'm betting that we get to see the context of the peace talk ambush in the Escalation comics. Does anyone still think FERO is actually Halsey? I never did.

It makes no sense for Osman, the current head of ONI to involve herself with something like this. It will be quite ridiculous if it was her, and it will remove from the believability of the series.

So I think it's fairly safe to assume that FERO is not Halsey, with most leaning towards FERO being Osman.

Here's a question, though, that I find very interesting. How is/will Halsey react to this smear campaign against the SPARTAN Program, and then later against Chief himself? I'd imagine that while she may not have a word edgewise to defend the SPARTAN Program, she'd be furious over the attack against John.

Even more interesting is if FERO is indeed Osman. It would further play on the constant mental and emotional battle between the two sides of Osman and Halsey, both disliking what the other stands for. Halsey being the main instigator (and scape-goat for all others) of the SPARTAN Program that Osman suffered through and eventually failed, and Osman being the new face of ONI that Halsey has learned to love to hate (especially after HtT, I'm sure).

It'll be interesting to see how these two persons will continue to "sell" their side to those around them, and therefore also to us fans.

Looking back at when 343i first announced that Halo 4 was part of the Reclaimer trilogy (back before it was changed to a saga), I remember reading that part 5 was going to be the Empire Strikes Back of the trilogy; dark, emotional, and cliffhanger-y. After all of this HtT stuff has started hitting, it's really starting to make sense what kind of effects they're going for, before possibly bringing some major resolutions in 6 and beyond.

Why? It would definitely fit in Serin's MO to force a double blind.

You guys don't even seem to see the fault in this scenario. Ok, which of these two situation do you think is more likely and logically: That FERO is Serin, or that Serin, you know, the head of one of the most secretive and most powerful organisation in UNSC and the haloverse at large, is supervising this operation at best. Imagine the head of the CIA being personally involving in the actually running of an op, instead of doing what he or she is actually supposed to be doing, which is giving directive and coordinating several activities on a very high level. It simply makes no sense given the risk of exposure and plausible deniability.

Could be that she's pulling something over on the rest of ONI as well. One of the (theoretical) upsides to exposing the Spartan project would be to allow her to clean house of the old guard. Keeping her subordinates in the dark lets her operate with total impunity.

Or, yeah, maybe she's got somebody else playing the role of FERO, but it's not a huge deal if it's her doing it personally.

Not to mention that the result of Fero's involvement will be for the senators to relinquish ONI's ability for secrecy and control. If that was Osman's actual goal, she could just take steps toward that as head of ONI. There's absolutely no need for her to be involved in some strange conspiracy to do so.

Indeed. I just don't get the suggestion that she is FERO. It will be utterly ridiculous if she is.

Not ridiculous at all. Serin is very hands-on.

Not to mention that should Osman want to carry this out, BB could provide all the help she'd need in orchestrating/skewing it. With only Osman and BB involved, no other person within ONI would know of the double-blind, making the weeding out of the guilty ONI parties something that Osman would seem in no way guilty of starting.

The only other thought I had was as to whose voice it could be would (of those peoples we currently know) would be Veronica, but she doesn't seem the type to be involved in such a smear campaign as this.

Home with my sick daughter and finally caught up on these and I too, unexpectably, am blown away and utterly hooked. Great job to those involved.

I was in the "It's not Halsey" camp from the beginning, as I didn't feel like it served her current interests really, and also felt like it was too much of a stretch from where we last saw her to think she's now casually chatting to reporters.

I also don't think it's Osman at this point, even if it COULD make some semblance of sense (with double blinds, etc).

The alternative? She is a "Rebel Leader" who is organizing some sort of resistance against the UEG/UNSC/ONI. Which, I suppose is fine and all, as we know the insurgency is alive and well from New Blood.

However, that doesn't really jive with worrying about the deep space anomalies. From the previous episode this whole Master Chief thing seems to just be a means to the end rather than something super important. This allows all the pieces to get together for.. whatever happens next.

So it could be anything at this point really.

Halo 5 is going to be one of the best hopes Microsoft have of turning sales around. If this game doesn't do it there aren't many that will in my opinion.

I didn't finish reading the Kilo Five trilogy so I'm curious, did
the ordeal with Naomi's father ever get settled? If so is there any chance it'll play into this stuff? I'm debating whether or not I should just read them.

HE ATE THE ICE CREAM!
My work is done

The Ice Cream never stood a chance.
If you liked that you should check out his other stuff. Ultimate Skyrim is amazing.

Preorder Now and you'll get the exclusive Master Chief Massmurder campaign level. A whole 45 minutes of gameplay. If you preorder at this very moment you'll get the chainsaw for maximum carnage.

I really hope 343 do another BETA after E3, hopefully with some BTB game modes in. Reason I say this is that they would be foolish not to properly test the game out, see how the servers can handle it before release.

Surely they don't want another MCC.

Wait, soare they or are they not foolish for testing their beta for 3 weeks already? Did you not play? Did you not see the constant updates of the new matchmaking system they are using for halo 5? Do you know more than i do? Please tell me more and reveal your secrets that will make them foolish.

please.

And we havent seen every weapon in last years beta. There are still a lot of new and old weapons to be seen. Mainly the Promethean and Covenant weapons.

This need some proper balance too.

Big Team Battle is/can be on a much bigger scale so I don't think it's too silly to ask for a beta to assure stability.

I don't think the supposed influx of players in BTB is going to warrant another full-scale beta. It's one playlist among many, so while the number of players in a particular match might be more than a regular TS game the playlist population should be somewhat similar to the rest.

Besides, I'm sure Microsoft owns load testing software that they will use beforehand that uses synthetic/virtual users instead of live players. While that method might not be as robust, it should get the job done.

If it worked as well as you imply I don't think MCC would've ended up like it did.
Not to suggest that they will do another beta, but large-scale tests on larger matches with real players seems like it would be to their benefit.

If it were the same exact team with the same exact curcumstances, then i'd believe they would need more live testing instead of in-house/vendor. Buuut as they have told us over and over. not the same matchmaking system as mcc. 100% dedicated servers. no p2p at all. one dedicated team, not 5 with vendor support.

I see the logic; bigger maps, more connections, equals larger stress testing. I just can't down play it to , bigger is better when it comes down to how code can be trimmed down to be more effecient. IDK, just my thought process. :/

Just got around to listening to the latest episode. It really is great!

Gotta agree with the posts above calling for another beta. Not only for stress testing, I think that they should so that we can see if their implementing a titanfall like datacenter selection actually WORKS!!!

This is 343 we are talking about here

How are they going to explain everything that is happening to someone who is not following all this?

Don't see that they have to, honestly. HtT is great, but I doubt anything that happens in it will be plot-pivotal for Halo 5, other than maybe the Chief attacking the peace talks (if it really happened), which will probably get a cutscene devoted to it.
