Is that a wiiU logo?

Ouch, at this point in time Iga & Yamane are going to have to sign 1451 boxes
Yeah, but in Japan you don't sign stuff, you have a seal (not the animal. lol). And they could speed things up buy building a makeshift stamp version of it. So you could have 10 assistants working simultaneously on 150 boxes. Soooo, two hours tops?

As often as I see Yooka-Laylee posted in here, why doesn't the kickstarter thread for it pop up that much?

I'd like to post in it, I'm too lazy to do a search for it.

Because igavania fans are crazier and more obsessed than banjo kazooie fans?

But seriously, it's because the bloodstained kickstarter has more updates than yooka laylee and we still haven't hit all the stretch goals. Yooka's kickstarter basically already filled out their stretch goals, so there's not much left from them until they start posting more gameplay updates and videos.

Nooooooooooooooooooo they aren't
Have you even SEEN Banjo fans?

It's more so that Bloodstained has more appealing stretch goals (and is a more appealing game...) but also that its pricing tiers are more enticing than YL.
I'll probably end up getting YL as well but I won't go anywhere near the 175 I put down for Bloodstained because I don't really care that much about YL at all.

A) The second ask IGA was posted a few days ago. It's short so I won't really recap it. One interesting tidbit is that IGA says he intends to pull from a wide range of mythologies for enemies and locales and name drops the Lesser Key of Solomon (a real life book about demons). From Wikipedia, the following is a demon described in that book:

Look familiar?

B) The second Playism podcast was posted a few days ago. Topics of discussion include the beginnings of the kickstarter and the general reaction to it. They also name drop that they have been reading GAF :P Then they go a bit into the costs of running a kickstarter and really hammer the point home that there are "megatons" in the "basement". Finally the conversation moves into the music of Castlevania and Bloodstained and wraps up with an interview with Yamane about her overall career and what she wants/intends to do in Bloodstained. As an aside, and I'm sure Ravidrath wil be pleased to hear if he's still reading the thread, is that Yamane says that the work she's done on Skullgirls is the work she's been most proud of since leaving Konami.

It's a good listen so check it out if you have time. Also enjoy this fanart below:

What if it ends up being something else?

I dunno, man. What if vanilla ice cream tasted like chocolate ice cream?

Best use of the Lesser Key I've ever seen is still Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant. I hope Iga can blow me away.

We'll probably hit it in about a week, but certainly when donations spike again at the tail end of the campaign (usual KS behavior).

There was no chance even before stretch goals that this game wouldn't have something akin to the inverted castle; that's like SotN's signature move.

The campaign will 100% finish over $3m and will likely finish a decent chunk over $4m.

That's good to hear.

27 social achievements reached, just 3 left before the basement is opened.

RELAX!? YOU WANT ME TO RELAX? ON THE INTERNET?

Sorry about that. We just went though the same thing yesterday and I unfairly reacted to you as if you were somehow responsible and building upon the posts of the original member. This was unconscious to me and impolite, and I apologize. Instead of assuming you were trying to dissuade him from posting, I should have considered you were trying to save him effort. Please accept my apology.

No problem, this thread is so big I missed that coming up before.

Can anyone tell me what is the best way/platform to play Symphony of the Night? Missed it first time around and really want to get around to playing it.

Was gonna make a thread but this seems to be a good place to ask.

The original PSX classic is available on PSN for PS3 and Vita. $10 I think.

for fan signings I'm pretty sure most do it by hand. never seen or heard about using hanko for that.

Excellent, would be perfect for the Vita assuming there's no major FF6-style issues.
If you're planning to play it on your Vita I'd recommend getting Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (PSP) digitally. It contains also SotN in a sorta Director's Cut edition complete with a new third playable character that's unavailable on the PS1 Original.

It's up to you which version you get. Of course the PSP one is not playable on a PS3.

Nah, it runs well. Was just playing it the other day.

Also note though that Dracula X Chronicles for PSP has SotN as an unlockable with extra stuff.

Fake edit: beaten.

I'd recommend the PSP version if it wasn't for the retranslation. To get the full SOTN experience you need to play it with the original dub for the first time.

I actually haven't played the PSP version. How much of the charmingly bad Engrish got axed? SE was cool enough to leave the "spoony bard" line in every retranslation of FF4.

What if it ends up being something else?

Take one look at the FAQ of this Kickstarter project and it's quite obvious that this is the Wii U stretch goal:

What about Nintendo and/or handhelds?

Our budget left us with two options: Build the biggest, most beautiful game we can, or make sure it runs everywhere from the start. As things stand today, we can't afford to create the two separate versions of this game that would be necessary to make it run on every console. That said, we've heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement...

If that's not obvious enough for any doubter out there, then I really don't know what else to say.

There's a very fundamental cap on how much money can actually improve the project, though. They can't make it go faster by adding more programmers. The ability to create more assets by hiring more artists is subject to diminishing returns as they need stuff like art directors to keep things consistent. Once you have a few top composers and a full orchestra you can't really spend more money on improving the music. After a certain point the only real improvements they can deliver with more money are added modes that ship after the game is out, by keeping the team employed working on post-release updates.

I mean, we're talking about a campaign that's going to end somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 million, and which has implied they've got another $5 million in the wings from their publisher. This is probably going to wind up the highest-budgeted metroidvania-style game ever. Even without additional publisher funding for that precise purpose it would have the budget for a farmed-out downport, I'm fairly confident.

Iga also doesn't have a reputation for going over budget and overtime. I think. So that bodes well that the funds would be enough. He doesn't seem to be the sort of person who over scopes projects and the game type can grow in content linearly.

A talk about how Arc System Works made Xrd's look since they said they were going to research games like it to achieve a 2D feel for Bloodstained: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhGjCzxJV3E

It's pretty interesting! 2 months to model and an additional 2 months for animation sounds rough though.

It's certainly not cakewalk, but it's much more economical and realistic than SNKP's method for KOF12 and 13, where they made a 3D model and then drew the individual character animations by hand. No wonder it took like each character the equivalent of a year to be realized.

All the reason I'm hoping others are taking notes from how Arc did, if they haven't already.

Somehow I only just noticed

IGA's personal accountant just sent a bat-fax

I'm so glad to've gotten an extra part in this.

Anyway, has there been any mention of a slacker backer/post KS support thing? I really don't have the cash available for one of the really nice tiers right now, but I'd like to try for one maybe a few months from now.

Who knows, funding after the campaign doesn't affect the scope since it would require very expensive replanning. Your only option would be to buy it in 2 years when it's out.
Unless they decide to make some money on the side.

None of the classic lines are there

Alucard's re-dubbed voice is so lame. It irks me that they didn't even try for a Robert Belgrade esque baritone in either the redub, Judgement, or Harmony of Despair.

The other voices are super forgettable too, and the writing is mostly just... different. Not better or worse. I guess I prefer the hammy delivery. There's so much less excitement and gravity in the new delivery.

Today’s big news is a surprise so late-breaking we’re still pleasantly shocked ourselves. (It all came together last week.) The Alchemist’s Treasure sleeve ($100+ tiers) will feature special cover art by Ayami Kojima.

:O :O :O :O

K I think i'm going to bite and back at the $175 tier. (really wished I didn't give MN9 so much money cause i'd rather have put it towards this lol...)

One question though, is the art book going to be soft covered or hard covered?
The pledge description says it'll be soft but their infograph of the pledge tiers say it's going to be hard?
