I thought this would come after the success of REmake HD. Fantastic, sold my GC years ago so a chance to play this again with trophies? I'm all over that.

Failed the RE:R test. Badly. Probably the Ducktales Remastered and D&D Chronicles tests as well. Got a Pass/Fail on the MH3U test.

Because Revelation wasn't good? I seriously doubt these good would do poorly on Nintendo's hardware when the Virtual Console proves otherwise.

This is probably the only RE I haven't played. Why was this more polarizing to a lot of people than most other older games in the series?

Hmm... my biggest issue with this game is the lack of storage boxes. You have to plot places to put things. it's a big hassle. And the quality just doesnt hit the high that REmake does. It's an ok game though.

It's a pretty different formula all around. No storage items you instead drop items whereever. Though most of the time you try to minimize this by dropping in a central hub for a majority of the game. The play style between two different characters is different as well. It's almost like playing coop by yourself. Aside from that the story just kind of happens. If you have played the later games you'll know that 0 is basically never mentioned at all despite being canon. Also the main antagonist is a bit odd, and that's taking into account all of RE. Overall I still don't think it's bad and quite enjoyed it. But it is a bit odd of a title all around.

Interesting thanks. I'll probably pick it up on Steam just for completeness.

i hope this leads to a physical box set of remake and zero in europe and the us.

I'm actually surprised by this. I actually thought it was a far better alternative to "magic" item boxes. For one, you can actually leave incompleted KEY objects right in front of the object that requires it. How is that not a superior option? Eliminates most of the backtracking really; could've cut an extra 30 minutes of my finish time if they implemented it in the REmake.

It changed a few things, no item boxes so you just drop items wherever (the maplists items dropped to help youre member).

Had the 2 characters co-op thing, not as a big a difference as you'd think it would make.

A lot of the disappointment you may have read is mainly from the story, lot of people where expecting the story of STARS Bravo team pre-release, instead we get pretty much nothing about them and a pretty babrebones story where the characters you play are concerned, with the behind the scenes plot it keeps cutting to being the only real draw.

When they said they were gonna do more HD re-releases of Resident Evil, this isn't what I was hoping for. Arguably the most dull, under-celebrated game in the Resident Evil (possible exception being 6) and it's clearly a port job they're doing because the Gamecube had the same high res assets scaled down for the standard def display.

Heaven forbid they invest in new pre-rendered backgrounds for Resident Evil 1 or 2.

I'm not even disappointed, just sadly had my expectations met 100%.

Anybody else got a collection of RE game releases? Something sexy about all the individual releases together. Mine isn't complete but it's coming along well.

Capcom, please make a PS3 physical edition for this, even if it's chinese only, I don't give a damn. Just so I can put it with my chinese REmake copy. D:

OR....or a physical compilation on PS4 with both remasters!

Will buuuuy, sold in advance anyway, no matter what happens. u_u
Yeah, please make a physical edition with both REmake and RE:0 on the PS3/PS4 for $30. I will buy!

I liked RE0 enough. It's far better than 5 and 6 IMO. I'd probably put it up there with Veronica.

I don't get how people complain about the inventory system. You can drop anything anywhere. It's so nice.

Really want that red key but no space? Drop that green herb on the floor.

Use the main hall as you main drop point. Need some ammo, back tot he main hall where I dropped off the shells.

Only downside is if you are moving to a new area, you may have to make supplies runs from your main drop off point to the new.

Anyways, hopefully this means RE2 is coming down the pipe but that will require actual work as it must be made from the ground up.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Anyone that thinks that these cash-ins will lead to a remake of RE2 that looks like REmake is delusional.
It would be an entirely new game built from the ground up. Capcom is making easy money right now polishing some games that are 10+ years old that still hold up visually.

They already have a significant amount of the RE2 assets in 3D from the second lightgun game on Wii/PS3. Taking those models/environments and adding things like modern post-processing effects could make a decent looking game.

Similar to this fan project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flBvR9zl1Zg

Can't wait until everyone plays it and bitches all over again at the horrid drop system and dual character segments. Game was ok but one of my least favorite in the series.

Well you'd still have to make your way to the required object in order to drop the key item off. You'd just end up backtracking in the opposite way of a normal RE game.

Personally, I always felt 0 had several problems, and it's probably my least favorite of the original fixed camera games along with Code: Veronica. The lack of item boxes was only one of the issues, and certainly not the worst one, but I'd love for them to retroactively add them in.

PLEASE put this control scheme into RE0 Remaster! I call it car controls and it was the best of any of the classic Resident Evil games. As far as I know REmake was the only game to feature the scheme.

Bah,would of preferred RE 2 but oh well, still good.

I don't think anyone expects a genuine REmake style RE2, nor would the current Capcom ever produce such a product. What would be cool, and doesn't seem entirely impossible, is a remake done in the style of RE4, in a fully 3d world (no pre-rendered backgrounds) with optional fixed camera angles. It'd be cool to see the team that made Revelations 2 do something like that, but then, they're probably making Revelations 3 or whatever the next major installment will be.

I also think it'd be cool if they just took the regular old vanilla RE2 and did a proper PC port and put it up on steam, original assets and all. That game still holds up today.

Though I'd be perfectly fine with games similar to Rev 2 and of that quality from now on. Man what a fucking treat that game was, and it's easily going to be in my top five for the year.

Pretty much. A remake of Resident Evil 2 is not happening.

Point being, you have will always have spaces for other items without resorting to an item box room.

Keep 'em coming, hopefully they're building up to 2 with the amassing funds.

No, that would actually require work :P And if they're going to remake it they're probably going to change a lot of things that don't need changing... In other words RE6 in Raccoon City

I don't know about you guys, but I'd be ok with a Steam version of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 like Final Fantasy VII and VIII. They already have old PC ports. It would be a nice way to have every single Resident Evil title in a single plataform with infinity backwards compatibility.

Dat RE2 thirst is real.

Remastering that game in the style of REmake and RE0 would be a long and expensive undertaking. I don't see it ever happening at this point.

Well I didn't like RE0 that much when it was released but I'm really interested in replaying it after having read the novels. At least in the novel there's a lot of background story and you get a much bigger grasp of how the virus outbreak happened and all the characters involved. Unfortunately RE0 mostly retell this in the FMV:s and they are pretty short and sketchy so it can be hard to follow. Rebecca is badass though.

Capcom is doing a great job with these remasters but I'm still hoping for some kind of remake of RE2/3/CV as these are the only ones I never played. I really wouldn't mind just an HD update. I mean I'm pretty sure a lot more fans wanted those games remastered and not RE0 which already looks alright on GC.

Mine as well. I wish they could handle items the classic way, but it probably ain't happening.

Anyways, holy shit, can't wait :P

I've always appreciated the item system from RE:0, totally agree with you here. Some frustrations having to go back for things if you dropped them in a remote place, but that's rare and a minor issue compared to the benefit of being able to drop off items where you'll need them later.

Been a long time since I played Resident Evil Zero but isn't it possible that it could be made into an online co-op game? You could switch between Billy/Rebecca at any time so why not have them both operating independently with two players at the helm?

But that would require Capcom put a little effort into the port so I doubt it'll happen.

Wow! we are super close to having the same! you have more Tins though, I also have RE2 n64, it's just in the 64 right now.

When I bought RE: Directors Cut Dualshock (greatest hits) it came with the non Dualshock non Greatest Hits editions disc. so I had to buy the regular Directors Cut with demo and end up with 2 of that disc. later to make up for it I bought the dual shock edition disc only to go in my empty case, it didn't work. so I had to buy the disc only twice. Made me mad.

On top of that, the demo of Dino Crisis that is supposed to come with RE3 was accidentally swapped with the demo disc for RE3 that was supposed to come with Dino Crisis. I guess the reseller who saw the RE3 labeled demo disc unfortunately though that meant it was a demo that came with RE3 sigh. Oh well.

It's not going to happen with this because RE0 was a Gamecube game, it's old enough that it's considered OK by most folks. It hits the spot everyone is comfortable with.

Now if it was RE5 Remastered (or hell even RE6 lol) then, yes, people would groan.

You're definitely right, but I would actually like an RE6 remaster ... it would probably run a lot better on current hardware.
