Wonder how many bosses the game will have.
Why are people thinking the Wii U version will be cut down or inferior? This isn't some AAA 3D game pushing hardware and polygons/effects, it's a 2D game with some 3D elements but still designed to look mostly 2D. It should be pretty simple to port it to Wii U with nothing lost at all. The developers weren't considering the Wii U port too different to do themselves because the system wasn't powerful enough, but because the engine they chose doesn't support Wii U so it would require being a completely separate code base to do the exact same things.
For the 3m stretch goal I expected something better than the WiiU port, but the icon of the 3.250 looks pretty promising !

Nice that the Wii U version was added. Any chances of this game matching the greatness of the SOTN soundtrack?
Koji Igarashi, the namesake of "Igavania"-style games, is leading the project, with Michiru Yamane composing the music and Inti Creates leading the development.
To each their own of course, but allowing this game to reacher an even bigger audience is pretty awesome.

Hm, glad the Wii U stretch is official, but can the Wii U run UE4? I'm curious as a (current) Wii U-only owner.
Not only that, it's being made by people who have released AAA games on the gamecube & wii and therefore know the wii u's cpu backwards, forwards and sideways, and should have a good working knowledge of the graphics from the blackgate port.

When these guys left and were fired from Retro Studios the studio didn't miss a beat in terms of quality. I'm more likely to believe the reasons why the Metroid Prime series was so good extend greatly beyond them. Yet their own offers were bad. Blackgate is not a good game period. Just because they came from Retro Studios doesn't mean that quality is automatically replicated. That's been shown in the past to not be the case when people have thought that about other developers.

They were fired from Retro? Do you have a link to that, I hadn't read about that, just that they left to form their own company. As for "the studio didn't miss a beat in terms of quality", these people left right after finishing Metroid Prime 3, so they have a good enough legacy behind them. And their Wii U port of Batman Blackgate didn't get mediocre reviews for its technology or quality in porting, but in the game design, and this time Armature isn't going to be designing one bit of the game but doing a straight port.
Damn, Wii U relegated to Basement-status.
I need to see that photoshop.Gahigiddy waiting at the bottom confirmed

Sorry, I can't be positive about a Wii U port, probably, not good for the rest of versions when they wanted "Build the biggest, most beautiful game we can, or make sure it "
I want to see this at the bottom of the goal castle.![]()
Someone photoshop IGA into the frame, and "Konami sucks" instead of "Rare sucks"
From the Kickstarter page
Yamane did the SOTN score![]()
You didn't even read the update, then.
8. IGA said so in one of his interviews. But he said it's a preliminary number and with stretch goals they're looking to expand that.
And I don't believe it.

It's so weird to me that people actually want a Wii U port. Even if another studio is handling it, considering the engine I expect it to be inferior.

It's weird that there is a population of people who have a Wii U and nothing else and want to play the game?

Glad a Wii U version might be in the cards now, but I realize that Nintendo will likely have moved on to NX by the time this releases. At least I won't have to buy a new system to play this, but knowing that it'll be an inferior port still kind of irks me a bit. Maybe they'll offer up a better version on Nintendo's new system, if it is capable.

Don't believe what, exactly?And I don't believe it.
That's what he was saying.Sorry, but what is weird about that?
There are a number of Castlevania titles available through the eShop, and they might want to experience a brand new title in the series.
GuymelefAnd I don't believe it.
Who writes these updates? I know it's not Iga himself.
They haven't detailed how it will work. I guess that will be discussed after it hits that goal.Has it been confirmed anywhere that Wii U is getting a physical copy, too?
Did any of you guys read the FAQ? Former Retro developers (armature) are handling it. I wonder how that's suppose to be a sign of inferiority (considering these are the key people who did Metroid Prime and pushed the GC hardware).
Upped my pledge to physical.
The campaign hit the local coop goal on the first day and they still haven't detailed what that means. They haven't detailed how it will work. I guess that will be discussed after it hits that goal.
There will not be complete parity no. The PS4/PC versions will run at 1080p, XB1 900p probably, and WiiU will run 720p with concessions for example. There is no sorcery that will make it just work without concessions and not affecting other versions. It would mean something if Retro Studios as a whole was developing, but a couple of guys that worked there once does not insure anything. I'm sure the game will be competently done and "play" just as well as the other versions on more powerful hardware, but you can't deny that sacrifices will be made to get that to happen. Even if they are just cosmetic changes, that still denotes a compromise in the original intended vision for the game. It's still very nice that they are throwing us Nintendo fans a bone, but there is no way this will parity the other versions and it's disingenuous to think it could.

Don't get me wrong, I want the Wii U version, but not because of some staunch refusal to branch out to other systems or anything, but because I simply can't afford to make expensive purchases like that for a while. It's possible this might change by the time this game is finished of course (in which case, I'll be getting a new PC). As it stands right now, I'm really glad I'll at least be able to play it, perfect or not. There will not be complete parity no. With that being said, if you absolutely must have it on WiiU it's great that you can. And the concessions are something you just have to live with.
