New thread, new news.

No word yet on what this means for TNA's very immediate future.

This is mind boggling on so many levels.

lol. That's hilarious.

What happened to Fox?

TNA just got hit in the back of the head with a sledgehammer. Well, if TNA is gone in the fall.

I eagerly await TNA's response to this.

"No guys, we aren't cancelled. Destination America just really loves wrestling"

Considering the top show on Destination America is called HILLBILLY BLOOD, you can bet your ass the Briscoes are going to get that John Cena push.

Oh shit, that's hilarious..

They still think they have a market for it so they changed the product.

I think the ratings for TNA have been fine. I think they are just run like shit. DA could see the writing on the walls so they went with the safer bet.

I think I actually went to the tapings in Toronto that will be airing during that stretch. There are some great matches in there.

Lol so it's all on tna. The rumors were that da didn't like the demographics or whatever. but then they just pick up another promotion. Too good.

So not worth it
ROH getting a national TV deal is huge for them, great news as their programming has been great. Stellar if you compare it to what TNA does.

Ideally it'll be ROH and TNA on DA (not that it matters to me living in the UK), just to increase the wrestling out there. However, there's been so much drama around TNA (more than usual) that I wouldn't be surprised if this was a swap over, with ROH getting a few months of crossover leading into TNA. I can imagine DA think they can bring TNA viewers over into ROH before they possibly bin TNA.

Maybe Destination America is getting into the wrasslin' biz. Maybe they will merge TNA and ROH to form a new fed that will take on Vince McMahon and the WWE.

This is it. This is the competition we've been waiting for.

Believe!

Sweet, I hope the production values will improve over the Sinclair shows, which always had really shitty lighting (though to be fair I haven't watched ROH in a few years so maybe it has already improved since then).

Between ROH, Lucha Underground, NXT and New Japan, I'm going to OD on wrestling soon

Can someone give me a tl:dr backstory on what is going on?

--TNA wrestling moved to Destination America
--Destination America probably realized that TNA is a horribly run company
--Stories of Destination America cancelling TNA surface
--TNA denies cancellation
--Destination America announces that a different promotion will now air on their network

Well, it's owned by Discovery, right? Money wise it could be done.

No, I'm not serious.

How did Destination America not write wrestling exclusivity in their contract with Discovery?

To be honest, they probably didn't have another option. It was either go to DA on whatever terms they could get, or die.

-TNA has been a terrible, poorly run company since 2002, and it got worse when Panda Energy bought them in 2004, and installed the daughter of the owner, Dixie Carter, as the head of the company.

-TNA gets a deal on Spike TV in 2005 when Spike looses WWE. It manages to get a consistant 1.1 raiting, no matter what they show

-In 2010, they decided to go all in, and sign Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, and Jeff Hardy (who just months prior was main eventing WWE shows), and move their show to Monday Nights, directly competing with WWE Raw. This is a spectacular disaster, and couple months later, the company is moved back to Thursday nights, and raitings fail to improve

-In late 2013, Spike tells TNA they will not renew their contract once it comes up in Sept 2014.

-After months of negotiating, Destination America picks TNA up in September 2014. WHile they are moved to a Friday timeslot, they are given 2 extra shows on the network- one featuring classic matches, and a studio style show

-Within 2 months, both of the extra shows are canceled

-Last Week, Dave Meltzer reports that Destination America will not renew the contract, with TNA being canceled in Sept 2015. Dixie Carter goes crazy, saying that it is not true, and threatening to sue Dave Meltzer for slander

-Today, Destination America announces a deal with Ring of Honor, an independent promotion that draws more fans per show than TNA does.

ROH is stellar compared to any US based wrestling company and as for TNA i could literally pull a random HDNet 1 hour ROH show and it would be more entertaining then anything TNA has done in probably a decade.

As much as i hate to see a wrestling company die, TNA needs to die so the remaining wrestlers on the roster with talent can go to global force, ROH, WWE etc. TNA is like a loved one who has been on life support for years and is completely brain dead and lifeless but you and your family just can't pull the plug yet because it's a loved one.

Your baby is dead Dixie, pull the plug.
i just realized how dark the last bit was after i posted it but i still stand by it. PULL THE PLUG

Well, TNA is already canceled, so there shouldn't be any problem bringing on a new show
Discovery isn't renewing their deal as of today.

Discovery can't get out of their deal until September.

This means they either plan on using TNA to get ratings for its replacement or they are taking them off the air right now and paying Dixie to have her company stay at home till September.

Now I know where Jay Lethal went after I thought he dropped off the face of the earth.

Time to jump ship Angle, Roode, and Austin Aries.

it would be nice if ROH ratings go sky high after the move and becomes a worthy 2nd place to wwe ratings wise

It would be nice if Discovery/DA gave them some extra budget to work with to actually be some kind of competitor. As it is right now though we're going to have NXT, Lucha Underground, and Ring of Honor all on the same night.

Begun, the Wednesday Night War, has.
