Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Video – Time To Go To War

Gordon: "Penguin is holed up in the Safeway at 3rd and Lincoln, pick him up and bring him in."

7 minutes later:

Penguin: “You may have captured me, but five of my associates are still out in the open, see if you can bring them all in! Nye-hehehehe”

Gordon: “5 of Penguin’s men are still on the loose, check your map, pick them up, and bring them in as well.”

Spoilers, bro.

Looks good, real good. HOWEVER, just going from this it does have a "AC now with Batmobile!!" feel to it.

I mean, I loved AC. I liked it better than AA. It was my 2011 GOTY. I just hope that AK expands on the AC gameplay/setting a bit, and more than just adding the Batmobile (which looks totally bad ass).

I have high hopes for this game. It will probably come down to this or Bloodborne for my GOTY.

Well the combat system seemed improved, lots of new cool moves and mechanics there, but the biggest different should be the Batmobile, so yea it seems like AC only bigger, much better looking and with a Batmobile with added improvements to the various mechanics introduced before and some new ones (like fear takedown), don't seems too bad for me but maybe others had higher expectation for a next gen Batman game, I think by now it's really clear what the game is about and you should set your expectations accordingly unlike some of the reporters being disappointed it's not AA :|

I think so. In the Ace Chemicals demo, if I recall correctly, Batman takes down a sword thug in a blade takedown like way (but that didn't look like pure gamelay, but sort of like a semi-cinematic).

Went and rewatched that video.

Yeah, the part you're talking about looks like the same semi-cinematic stuff as the Deathstroke boss fight in Origins. I really hope they haven't taken the blade dodge out. I just love it for some reason.

Graphics are nice and the Batmobile looks like a lot of fun.

But I still kinda wish they tried to make an open world that feels more alive. While it's looking amazing on the graphics side, it's still so empty that it just looks like a big videogame level instead of Gotham

I really hate the vehicle combat.

But the game looks pretty damn amazing when this was really running on a PS4.

Traversal and puzzle solving with the car has some potential, but the short combat sequence with the tanks was underwhelming and derivative imo. With some luck, tanks are not roaming the city all the time. The width of the streets was also a bit "meh" from a visual standpoint. The labyrinthine network of alleys in Arkham City seemed to have been replaced by a lot of uninteresting empty space (at least in the trailer).

Forgot to mention his face as well. What the hell happened to it?

17575982294_84e0e3d830_b.jpg

He looks like Robocop "Dead or alive you're coming with me"

Still not keen on the partitioned Gotham taken over by bad guy thing though felt a little off in AC feels even more forced now

If that's what it looks like on PS4 I can't wait to see PC gameplay (though I think they did at last e3?).

Game looks great. This year is looking to be killer with the Witcher, Batman, and TPP.

Looks fucking amazing. Day one. Cant wait to spend all my time playing this when its released. Doing everything.

Just started The Witcher. That should hold me over until then

Just watched the Gamersyde video and it looks amazing. I really hope the PS4 version really does look like this. Performance seems pretty stable too.

Looks great! Pushing UE3 to the limit. Will be the first new game of 2015 I buy.

Mmm, yes I am curious too about them using UE3, I bet it is a heavily modified UE3, the wet surfaces and the particle effects make the game IMHO.

Did Epic aimed to high with UE4? I am really curious about it.

It is sad to say this but Batman VO is not that good :( In my opinion Roger Craig Smith did better job in Origins.

I agree, Conroy is getting too old for this shit.

Or maybe it was the voice director who didn't give a shit.

The batman face and movements have always sucked for some reason in Arkham games. The line delivery while cool that it's Conroy is very flat. Not a deal breaker though.

What are your E3 predictions oh wise one.

Anyone else notice that she
wasn't holding the plant when she got out of the Batmobile
?

if someone already posted this then lol

Currently replaying all the Arkham games leading up to Arkham Knight. His voice sounds right in line with those.

I was watching some streams the other day of people also replaying. I think a lot of players that just spammed attack all the time in previous games and never really went deeper into the mechanics, should be worried about the driving and batmobile combat. Seems like they will have a very frustrating time.

So overall I'm still extremely excited about this title--Arkham City was one of my most played games of the last generation and I've been dying for another Rock Steady Batman.

Two things I'm not as jazzed about when it comes to this one though:

Combat looks like it can get really jumpy, with Batman constantly making impossible leaps across the room--I was hoping they could tone that down and make it slightly more grounded and limit the distance with which he can auto-lock onto enemies.

The aesthetic has a strange look to it at times. Things can be a bit too shiny and there are so many colouful lasers/lines on screen when 'going to war.' Not a deal breaker, but the look comes across as a bit plastic.

I could go on and on about how this may be a bit of a stretch from AA and AC, but I won't lie. I am going to play the crap out of this game. While I'm being honest, as much as I think the season pass is too expensive, I will still get it and play the shit out of that too (and I usually don't go for season passes).

Come on June 23!

Looks good for console footage, bodes extremely well for the PC version.
We know it will pack several exclusive high-end effects, can't wait to see them in action.

Great trailer of course, from a gameplay perspective AK seems to add just what's needed.

I think that comes down to the style of play. Like in previous games, simply hitting attack in a direction with a combo at least over x3 would cause Batman to dash across the room. For me, when I play I don't like being very punch heavy. I rarely use the jump/flip over to get a breather and use more quickfire gadgets, especially the grapple gun to pull enemies in close and also anticipate the counters. Resulting in the fights being way more up close and less dashing and jumpy.

I think it looks fun. The mobile in tan mode seemed off, as I thought Batman was mostly non-kill..and shells and missiles would do a lot of fatal damage?

There were PS4 button prompts during last year's Sony E3 demo, which turned out to be a misdirection. Really, unless the game in question is console-exclusive or the version of said game is categorically stated, chances are it's the PC version.

It categorically states it is captured from PS4.

Are you people insane?

Looks kind of dull to me after Mordor.

Really? Mordor was so dull and bland it put me to sleep.

This looks incredible, can't see how it would be anything but an amazing game.

Even if it was AC 2.0 it still would be a 10/10 game for me.

As I've already said, I was making a general statement and made no reference to the titular trailer. I'd like to think common sense -- which, in this case, is the notion that devs/pubs generally put on public display the most visually impressive version of the game available -- isn't a telltale sign of mental instability.

You can really tell the videogames industry has some severe trust issues right now when you release a video with a giant "This was captured directly from a Ps4" sign and like a third of the replies to it are people wondering if it is indeed Ps4 footage

They use the excuse that they are "remotely controlled vehicles"

Not a chance in hell of what? W3 is already outperforming BB and it's really doubtful batman will get the same praise. TPP is TPP it's gonna outpreform BB and Batman.

outperform in what?

While I disagree with you (I think W3 is fucking incredible, possibly one of my favorite games ever), you can't disagree with the fact that this is gonna be a hell of a year for games!

yep i cant disagree.

oh wait what?
i heard this gen sucks :P

Everything in this trailer totally turned me off playing Arkham Knight - the fist fight with 20 armed dudes, the driving combat against the tanks and the seemingly pointless appearance by Poison Ivy who immediately goes straight back in to police custody.

I liked Asylum but the formula had got a little stale for me by City, so I think I'll skip this as it doesn't look like the stuff I didn't like has changed.

1. Batman games are going to have massive combat arenas. That's not going to change.
2. Batmobile is a new addition and looks fun as hell.
3. You don't know how long you've been tracking her before the video started. Saying that, she was a pretty small character in both previous games anyway.
