Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

The Kelp Splat Charger weapon loadout is pretty awesome. (you get the blueprint by beating the second boss)
The sniper, sprinkler and killer wail is a fantastic combination giving you loads of range and keeping enemies on their toes.

Best i've done with a sniper yet.
(also It made me laugh because it's just a charger with a piece of kelp stapled to it)

So my Amiibo triple pack from Walmart had a shipping label created yesterday and the listed estimate ship date was also yesterday. I'm hoping Walmart is just slow with processing and that they didn't oversell their allotment.

Anybody else order from Walmart?

I did, mine's still processing as well.

Wait, you're saying this buff is also activated if a teammate - for whatever reason - exits the game mid-match?

Cause that'd be pretty cool(and quite thoughtful), especially since some have been complaining about there being no bots to even the teams in an emergency(not sure how I'd feel about bots anyway).

It's nice, but it's not ideal; no amount of buffing would enable you to be in multiple places at once, which is the big advantage of a full team.

I tend to enjoy simple online modes, so all this talk about minimal maps isn't really an issue for me.

I just want to hear it from those who've played it:

Do you enjoy the game? Does it feel balanced and competitive?

Does it get tiresome holding the trigger to paint the map?

I fucking love the game.

Ye it is pretty balanced so far but the modes should be taken into account. The designed have weapon sets so you can't pair super power weapons and specials together.

Yet to be seen for the competitive scene. I think clan wars will thrive tho.

.

Oh your last point is good. And I'm really surprised Nintendo didn't add Amiibo support besides the Splatoon line. I mean come on gear designs based on the amiibo you scan would be awesome. Or at least shirts with logos lol (triforce etc).

Btw. My copy arrived. I'm playing the single player mode. It's very good so far (beat lvl 6)
I'm very tempted to hope into turf battles. But I wanna level up with a friend. I hope his copy also arrived today lol

I can definitely see them adding other Amiibo gear down the line like they did with MK8.

going to take a nap soon so I can play after midnight too bad I have a doctor's appointment at 8am or I would have focused on leveling up

I think I'll play single play for the time I'll have

You're doing so much more than just holding the trigger to paint the map. It's just a fast and hectic game. The biggest thing to keep in mind online is positioning and map traversal.

Yeah, you need to cover most of the map with paint to win, but at the same time, your paint is also what you use to move around the map efficiently and what you use to reload. There's so much going on at any second of the game that it just doesn't get boring.

I've only played in two of the stress tests and those hours just flew by. The matches happen so fast and then start up pretty much instantly, that it's hard to stop.

It feels balanced and competitive. Knowing what choke-points to hold, knowing what areas to paint first, when to go in near the enemy area and knowing when to "Squid-Jump" to other team-mates just adds a lot to the game.

It might just look like your painting the floor randomly in videos, but there's a lot more going on here.

I'm starting to enjoy that Splatoon is built around no voice chat, and not just removed from the game. If they do add voice chat, I hope it's between rounds so it feels like a chess match. I would love to see a new type of online tourney born out of the early days of Splatoon. Take 2 teams and they play however many games. Since they will be switched every round, every player or someone designated to keeps track of the indiviual player scores through screenshots, and after every round is done, you reform teams add scores compare and declare the winner. Not only would it breed a close community, it would be exciting have to win with people you're competing with, making you have to win and out do them.

If you don't like the motion controls, at least try to use them in single player and see if that helps you get used to them. It may be a fear of failure, but I feel anyone might be missing out on a big reason why Splatoon is so great if they aren't using the gyro controls.

Finished the single player with all the sunken scroll. It was quite a ride, and the last boss was really intense. Now time to unlock the school girl outfit

God damn. This game. So polished. After playing Witcher 3 with its technical hitches and weird movement, and USF4 PS4 for a bit with... Yeah... This is a breath of fresh air. Controls like a dream, movement feels just right, satisfying in every way.
I'm really not looking forward to sales.

Was randomly thinking about a Splatoon sequel (already, I know) and the first thing that came to mind was that I hope the next game increases the number of characters on one team. I think this concept is strong enough that 4v4 though 8v8 could be pretty rad.

I preordered at 39.990 before it went to 44.990, but then it went back down to 39.990 anyway so all preorders adjusted.

Unless you mean the 3-pack, which AFAIK has always been 39.990.
Ah no I meant the base game. Was snooping around a few days ago and read something about the price hike. Thought it was 34.999 before. It's a little too much for me I think, I don't know, I'm definately getting it after classes end but hopefully I can get it used of something

No way I'm spending that much money on Amiibos heh

But if you can kill a lot easier then you can still win.

Well, except killing isn't the goal. Fire rate and lower ammo consumption would be more beneficial in that regard; does the buff also have that?

It's a great idea and a good boost to have, it's just that simply more bodies is something that can't be replicated with a buff to players, and that's unavoidable.

Yes I enjoyed it immensely last night. It was fast and furious lol
The traversal mechanics are so well done and offer a lot of strategies.
You can get the higher ground, hide, defend a choke point. I think it has more strategical depth than any multiplayer FPS out there (when the main mode is just getting the most kills). The weapons have each a drawback and strong point. I haven't seen any weapons being too powerful.

So do you guys all feel after playing it a few hours that it's worth the money as it currently stands? Online performance issues?

Totally. At worst, you're going to spend at least 15 hours minimum on it. No online hiccup last time. Almost no wait time between matches. I didn't have time to play the mini-game!
I can't wait to go back home and play.

Oh baby, what I did earlier today...

Playing online on the underpass level, destroying the other team and pushing into their territory when I notice two enemy players heading towards our spawn. I head off towards them and press up to call another dude from our team to me, we roll on other and I trap the two enemy players behind a paint wall as we both decimate them. Completely ruined any chance the other team had! I feel like a dick sometimes because you can completely screw the other team if you play it smart.

I think most of us have only played the game during the stress test so far. From what I played, the game runs perfectly online. Buttery smooth, 60 FPS and no sort of lag whatsoever. The servers in the last stress test were down for a bit because of the amount of people jumping on, but they then fixed it and everything ran perfect again for another hour.

Hopefully it'll be able to hold up again tomorrow when everyone else gets the game.

Squidding Hell. Dusted off my Wii-U and I cannot for the life of me find my power supply. Anyone know if places in the UK sell them separately?

I'd contact Nintendo - they offer replacement parts that stores won't stock. I've seen a few third-party power supplies on Amazon, but I generally don't entrust them with the safety of my equipment.

if they do add voice chat it probably won't be during matches. that precedent is already set.

How many of you are buying it digitally?

*raises tentacle*

Quickest way to get the game as I don't live near street date breakers. I wanna go through singleplayer but these streamers makes me wanna hop online and roll em out.

I'll have bought the game 3 times though, digital, one for a friend's kid and the Wii U bundle for my girlfriend's sister graduation present. Gonna have two of em going in two separate rooms for the next week before we give it to her.

My Splatoon amiibos shipped from GameStop (web in-store order), now I'm just eagerly awaiting their arrival. Anyone have any experience with how long Gamestop's shipping process usually takes?

This game's release really snuck up on me. Ever passing minute increases my hype though. AAAAH SO CLOSE YET SO FAR

Glad to see the excitement. Played it a couple times and watched the videos. Still not seeing whatever you all are. I cannot remember the last time I was so in the opposite direction of the reviews and the folks here. Maybe over time I will get it.

Hope you guys have a great time.

When you are one man down you need to kill.

You can't cover enough area to make it worth it.
