I don't think it's weird. It's obviously not going to stay a PC exclusive. No one believes that.

Really? Why not? If Firaxis intends for Xcom to become their next big strategy franchise after Civ and fully support modding then going PC only makes a lot of sense.

Probably worth noting that the game also seems to be coming to linux and mac, if the logos at the bottom of the official website are anything to go by.

Firaxis made a move to have all of its "current" games working on all three platforms, so you should 100% expect Mac/Linux support for XCOM 2 either at release or very shortly thereafter.

PC exclusivity is good because it suggests a certain design philosophy and certain priorities are at work that will probably make the game more like I want it to be. Couldn't be happier with everything I've seen and heard so far.

PC only? Considering Enemy Unknown was out on PC and consoles and eventually Android and iOS this is really disappointing.

Hopefully the game comes to other platforms later.

Yes. This is sounding good so far. The last X-com had son great mods. I can't wait to see what people might come up with if this is more mod friendly.

This could be my game of the year right here.

Alright, I really want to give this series another shot. I tried XCOM on PS3 for about half an hour but didn't like it too much. Now I have a gaming PC and would seriously reconsider it, but the question is, will I like it this time around?

Yeah, I wasn't even anticipating any Big Holiday Releases up to this point.

Super-stoked for some smaller stuff like Firewatch and The Witness, but now I've got an actual Holiday Release to fawn over.

Yippee!!

PC exclusive? Straight to the trash it goes.

Womp. My old gaming laptop struggled to run the last one and there's no way I can convince my wife that we need a gaming PC.

I am disappointed in my console brethren who didn't purchase this game. How are we ever going to convince Square to make another Tactics game?

Do many non-indie titles launch on PC then have a console release later? I'd imagine it's quite hard to sell a $60 product when the older version is $25.

Tropico games. How many non-indie PC exclusives come out these days that aren't simulators?

I really don't think that is the angle they are going for. They just want XCOM2 to be as popular and longlasting as Civ 5 is on its workshop. If you want to see where paid mods will start, look towards the next big Bethesda game.

I'm sure they will not have paid mods, but will do expansions that will change the game enough to break compatibility so if you to use the newest mods you have to buy the expansions like in Civ V.

Yeah I want to see the 2012 game amped up in terms of complexity in every aspect of the game. I want to see the graphics modified to prioritize procedural generation rather than beauty which is what they have done. All of these are anti-console design decisions.

Dude what lol.

What can I say? Used to be a big PC gamer, but after investing in a great PC a good five years back, I realised it's impossible to play things on a computer. There's just so many distractions on a PC, so I never finished anything on it. If a game is PC exclusive it's basically the same as it not existing for me.

Honestly PC exclusivity makes a lot more sense in terms of the quality of a game than most other platforms in that there are legitimate benefits, like incredibly easy distribution, no licensing fees, mod support, no need for devkits, radically different control scheme, fast patching and many more.

Randomized maps are the only thing I wanted from the sequel and they delivered. Awesome. The game will much, much better with it.

Hell. Yes.

PC exclusive is great news. Not because I don't want console fans to be able to play it, but because a PC exclusive can better use the strengths of the platform from a gameplay and interface perspective.

I have heard the distraction angle before but it doesn't affect me as much as others. I just play my games.

I wonder if this is really a large budget game or it's going to be an attempt at a smaller budget (which would frankly be smart).

Will they go all out on graphics (as much as they can) or open themselves up to the larger, lower-spec PC market?

If it's a full budget all-out game, that would be the first we've seen from a big studio (& no console version) in... >5 years? I mean Crysis comes to mind but that came to 360 eventually. Crysis Warhead?

If it's a high spec game either I jump back in to PC gaming or I'll play this in 2023 or something.
