Caitlyn Jenner poses on the cover of Vanity Fair

Probably worth it to put some of the shoot in the OP. This is pretty unbelievable that people can transform like this with modern technlogy, medicine, etc...

Literally looks like a model in her mid 40's. Looks like Angelina Jolie a tad bit.

well..

wow

I'm still learning about the science behind SRS so excuse me if this is seems offensive/ignorant but how did she transition so fast? Is it usually that quick? That TV interview wasn't that long ago.

It's been an ongoing process for awhile. The interview was just the first time Caitlyn acknowledged it publicly.

I was trying to decide if I consider that person a woman and then I realised that it really only matters how that person considers themselves.

Being male and not having any identity issues I really can't imagine how hard it would be to feel like you were given the wrong body but at least we're leaving in a technological age where folks can physically do something about it.
That is at least something.

Was hoping to find some unknown super hot chick in this thread, turns out to be about a transgender person. What a pleasant surprise.

Good for her.

The story juuuuust faded from my mind so that cover took a second to register.

She looks great.

She looks good, damn!

So happy for her :) I hope her bravery in being public about this inspires many and removes some of the stigma from this.

That her big moment is this well received, and that she looks so flawless... I can feel her happiness all the way from the other coast. Powerful.

The rest of the family is so irrelevant right now, finally.

It's like a textbook example of how not to talk about a transgender person.

  • Saying "he"
  • Focusing on genitals/surgery, asking invasive questions which they wouldn't ask of a cisgender person
  • saying "looks convincing" like they are wearing a disguise
I mean damn

People are so quick to judge and attack on here now. I had the same questions as the person of that post. I'm curious as to how the surgery went, and probably would have used he in order to refer to the time before the surgery. Now maybe that's wrong but a simple reply without shaming is all that's required. Not all of us have experience with transgender people, and simply don't know. Some of the sarcastic and judgmental replies to his post are annoying.

Damn that transition was fast. Wasn't long ago when she had that interview. She looks great though. Quite shocked by the amount of positive support she's getting.

its just internet trolls. Many of us are learning about this as we go. Its no different than a boy asking about the vagina in sex-ed class. Some keep the old parts, some change it up, some choose to keep it private apparently. Just be respectful

Is pointing out how not to talk about a transgender person not informing someone, by pointing out how they were wrong?

There were more problems with his post than his question, but typically transgender people don't like being asked "so what's the situation with your genitals?". That's the kind of thing you can research for yourself.

Might be a douche for saying it but I will probably never refer him as a her. I don't have anything against transgenders, it's just something that's weird for me to say.

You should put this in the OP! :)
So how is her family accepting her? I haven't really been keeping up with Kardashian's *ba-dum-ts*

(still serious with the question though)
They've all been very accepting and supportive. :)

That is wrong and very close minded. Imagine, for example, you see someone in the distance - they're blurry and you can't make out your gender, so you refer to them as "them". When they get closer and then you can tell they're a woman, would you not then refer to them as "her"?

Caitlyn has told us that she is a woman, so she is. That's all there is to it and yes, you should adjust.

I would understand you not understanding it, but point blank refusing to use their preferred pronouns? yes, that's douchey.

It's not hard to say "she" instead of "he", not at all, you are just refusing to do so because it apparently inconveniences you (somehow?)

That's really nice to hear

I think sometimes people just make honest mistakes because they don't really now about how touchey the pronoun thing can be at times, but when you're aware of it, why not just do it? :/

Eh, forget about genders for a minute, the person is asking to be refered to in an specific way, would you like people to intentionally call you something else other than what YOU are comfortable with and want to be refered to as?

If you're not going to respect their change and chosen identity, at least respect their will.

By doing that, you show that do you do have something against "transgenders".

That is going to get super awkward with all your daily, personal interactions with her.

But I'm sure she'll understand, seeing how you've been there with her from the start and making that mental switch, what with her past identity as a male, is super challenging. I mean, you probably have spent hours upon hours thinking about her identity as a man, so I think it can be forgiven that you'll sometimes slip and use the wrong pronoun.

Congrats on the name !
Still facepalming to see lots of articles mixing both names

She looks like those rich old ladies that overdose on surgery .... so fits her family I guess.

Weird to see it so fast... I wonder if she was doing hormone therapy for some time because the breast implants can go really weird if made before the fat change from the hormones

So you're fine with impersonalizing and dehumanizing an entire subset of people because you feel weird using their preferred pro-nouns? Okay then...

Yep, count me in the same camp that didn't realize who that was at first. (I actually thought it was the Kardashian matriarch at first, shows what I know)

Good for her though, she looks great!

I'll never understand why some people feel so strongly about pronouns for transgender people. What exactly do you lose by using the one they prefer? How can it possibly bother you in any way? Legit questions, I'd like to understand this.

Be careful. I've seen people getting banned for saying such a thing. I agree with you, though...
