Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

I imagine there will still be gloomy looking weather in the game. They are probably showing blue skies because its new. I doubt the whole game will be filled with sunny blue skies all the time.

of course. Experience with modded Fallout has shown me that this idea that removing the baby poo filter will remove all semblance of atmosphere from the game is poorly thought out at best. Modded copies of the last two Fallouts have thunderstorms, snow, and all sorts of inclement weather systems that actually go alot further to add to the atmosphere of the world than a uniform poo filter ever did or ever could.

But the dogs in Witcher 3 don't have hairworks.

But I agree, there is a big focus on the dog in the trailer and the dog doesn't look good.
I mean that's what a RTS is pulling :

Lol, in-game Rome 2 doesn't look nowhere near like that. Those pics are legit pre rendered bullshots.

All have about 1/100th of the interactivity of Fallout 4.

Mind sharing this particular interactivity that's missing in these games? Is it like Crysis where you interact with every object like box, cans and stuff?

I doubt Obsidian will ever get another crack at Fallout (even with New Vegas outselling 3). I'm not certain they'd want to work with Bethesda again--even if given an option.

I think Bethesda reveals their stuff pretty close to launch. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out this fall.

Pretty sure they said they'd love to. Or Sawyer did atleast.

I was hoping to see something along the lines of The Division when it comes to graphical fidelity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Division is not really an open world game, but zones and multiplayer levels that you load into. I could be wrong though I haven't followed the game.

Whether they put most of their efforts and resources into visuals or not, the PC community would still go unsatisfied and feel the need to "fix" what they don't like. The perfect game doesn't exist. A game of this size/scope is a huge investment. There is no way to make it look like Crysis 3 on every NPC and in every environment ON TOP of finding in fixing every possible bug. It's just unrealistic to think that it's possible. You'd be looking at a 7-10yr development cycle with budgets that look Destiny's for development alone.

Actually, it probably should look close to Crysis 3, considering that game is roughly 3 years old now, yeah? It isn't unrealistic to make a game with beautiful NPCs and character models - Bethesda just doesn't usually seem to invest in that area very much.

If the game needs to be delayed, then that's perfectly fine. Too many games adhere to sales as opposed to general quality control.

Let me know when Obsidian gets to make another Fallout game, Bethesda sucked at it.

I don't know, I think Bethesda deserves another chance.

Fallout 3 still was a great game, it was just Bethesda misunderstanding what made the old Fallout games really good. They knew what made them good, just not really good.

I know it's probably just PR fluff, but this warms the cockles of my heart;

“We know what this game means to everyone,” said Game Director, Todd Howard. “The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”

I love it when devs are genuinely excited about a game, and they know how excited their fans are.

They went a little overboard rebelling against last-gen piss filters.

Aside from that, it looks like a Fallout 3 remaster. A little saddened by this, because I was hoping for Fallout 4 to be the game which introduced us to truly next-gen visuals.

This is the one game that I could not give a fuck about the graphics, good or bad I have to ask myself 1 question......is this game a new Fallout? Yes.
So I'm gonna be there day one, season pass in my pocket.

That being said, graphics are good. It was never gonna look mindblowing, it was gonna look like a Bethesda game.

Todd Howard's profession is monetizing your good faith and dreams. He knows what you want to hear.

I'm sure you all know about it by this point, but I just found out...

Looks like that post on Reddit was 100% spot on, at least so far. He said it was going to be released in October, which would be beyond crazy.

because it's been over two hundred years since the war. and as ridiculous as I feel it was for Fallout's Capitol Wasteland to be coated in a nonsense green haze that can only be tenuously justified lore-wise, it ain't like Boston is the nation's capitol, so I doubt it got hit with quite as much shit anyway.

I mean, it's the same answer given every time that question is asked. it's a ridiculous question. there's a lot more context for Fallout's mood and atmosphere than just dank skies, which is why I never feel bad about removing the green or orange filters first thing before my Fallout 3/NV playthroughs.

i mean, it's only been, what, fifty, sixty years since world war 2, right?

how come when I go outside it's not a war torn wasteland, how come there's no dust in the sky, or rubble on the ground?

because it's been, what, fifty, sixty years since the war, right?

Your post is reminding me... I always found it odd that hundreds of years after a nuclear holocaust, there is still no functioning government in place and the societal structure is still in complete shambles. I try not to think about it too much, realism is not what Fallout has historically gone for as a franchise anyway.

A game of this size with the overall eye candy of a game like Crysis 3? I wonder what type of PC or console you'd need to run a game like that at just 30FPS. People are expecting too much from Bethesda and the people who enjoy these games don't usually play them because the visuals are top notch.

So, with women and gaming being a big deal these days, how pissed are people going to be that you can only play as a man?

What's the excuse? Voice acting= $$$, so budget cuts?

Confirmation that you can only play as a man? I'd be surprised if the Lone Wanderer did not have a character creator, very surprised.

I'd wager the voice acting will be like most character creator, open world games, where they have limited lines and like 2 male, 2 female voices.

This game is completely and utterly a cross-gen title. They might have cancelled those versions along the way( or shelving them for later release) but its pretty fucking obvious that this was originally a old gen title as well for a lot of time into development, and so the game will suffer a lot because of that. Everyone celebrating " no cross-gen woo woo" should stop now.

It certainly seems that way. They may have planned it as cross-gen to mitigate risk. One of the interesting things this gen is that Console sales have been brisk and software sales of previous gen games have been dropping fairly quickly (outside of FIFA, COD etc.), rendering the costs of maintaining previous gen ports unjustifiable.

I mean it looks far more capable than previous gen could possibly do, but it was adapted after development already started.

It's massive open world.

This isn't Ubisoft we're talking about here. This is Bethesda. I've never seen a comparison that I could make outside the fact that they both make video games.

Did Watch Dogz impress everyone even after they touched everything up? What I said traditionally, there isn't a real comparison to be made. Skyrim? Oblivion? Morrowind? Fallout 3? versus?

GRAW2? City views and bright lights? This is post-apocalyptic.

All we've seen is one trailer? I don't get the "It doesn't look like Witcher 3, Infamous!"

Until I see the disc slid into a PS4/Xbox One and download the first 50 patches, I think jumping the gun on the graphics is a little crazy.

Though its GAF and I loves me some crazy.

If they're doing a voiced protagonist i hope they let you pick a voice like Saints Row did, that would make it palatable to me.

Still i like what i've seen so far, one thing i've wanted from Bethesda since Oblivion was another large city to explore on a world map in their game. Fallout 3 didn't have one and Skyrim's Holds were largely small settlements.

One thing that modding Skyrim has shown me is that the vanilla game isn't as populated as i'd hoped, and i hope that's something they change with this game. Obviously it's unrealistic to expect too many people in a post apocalyptic world but The Witcher 3 does a pretty good job of making settlements feel lived in and populated, even if you can't run into every house.

Nope, especially considering how pretty much everything was static.

Well there was some structure in the originals as well as NV with the different factions like NCR. F3 on the other hand...

This is the first trailer. This is the best the game will ever look.

It looks pretty good. As long as it is atmospheric like Fallout 3, I'm in. I know better than to expect a memorable story and NPCs from Bethesda, though.

RNC.

There's also a new Emperor in China (although that may not be canon).

My thoughts to, really don't know what some were expecting. One thing I never thought about fallout games was that it's pretty, just always OK looking. Maybe the PC versions of fallout 3 and New Vegas were miles infront of the console versions that I played so some people expect a lot better. Fuck it looks good enough for me, just can't wait to play it really are among the best games I have played despite there issues.

Well said

Fallout's lore has always worked to that end and Fallout 3 is basically the only outlier. There are several groups vying to become the functioning government of the new world. Fallout New Vegas's main story was literally, in its entirety, about that. You were an agent of progress and you got to decide which of the new societies would rise and fall over the ashes of America.

i dont know about the voiced character

when you played FO3 and you made decisions you would read the texts in your own voice in your head which was good, why mess with that?

You can still compare the graphics to any other open world game though. But I am not very worried about that. Gonna wait for mods on PC.
