Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection announced, October 9th, UC4 MP beta access

I know Master Chief Collection was broken as hell, but at least the price was supergood:

-Halo 1
-Halo 2
-Halo 3
-Halo 4
-ODST
-Multi
-Halo 5 Beta

with a price launch of 60€

This collection seems just poor compared to MCC, at least they should throw Golden Abyss in.
ODST came out after the MCC did. Multiplayer has been broken as well and there's some glitches in the main campaigns.

Sure then it shouldn't be 60$ is all I am saying. Or maybe one the first game remastered or something. This is just 1080p/60fps bump.

It doesn't matter how many games they stuff in like the Cascade Cassette 50 Collection MCC, if they're broken for eight months then you've been robbed whatever price you paid.

That's what Remasters generally are though. In this instance it's 1080p, 60fps, improved lighting, textures and models. So $20 each campaign for that, for what aren't even particularly old games. Personally I think that's a great deal, especially for those who have never played one or the other, but for those that don't, just wait a while. I'm sure the prices will come down.

I still have Uncharted 2 and 3, as well as my PS3, so I think I'll be skipping this one.

Also I don't have a PS4

The main benefit I see from this collection is that UC2 multiplayer will be populated once again. That was a damn good game. I would almost consider getting it just for that.

You should re-read the announcement. Single player campaigns. No multi.

But full 1080p/60fps is easily enough for me to double dip on all 3.

yeah i mean the super mario bros. collection cartridges seemed so poor compared to the 101-in-1 game cartridges back in famicom era.

Bad comparison.

First party popular series game collections vs. a collection of mini games.

Agree. Wouldn't be surprised if it's $40 or less by the time Uncharted 4 comes out.

Why not? They keep stressing that a huge part of PS4's install base has not owned a PS3 and therefore never played any of the Uncharted games. The collection can benefit the sequel.

I think it's just more reasonable to assume that Uncharted 4 simply needed more development time, rather than release schedule conspiracy theories.

$60 for all three games, right? Basically $20 for each game so why people complaining? I'm in.

Are you...actually acting like that's a similar comparison? Are you serious right now?

Your refusal to see this as anything but perfect is laughable.

lol $60 for 3 games. Thats a $20 a piece. Dont give me that no MP crap arguement because who cares :lol

Jak and Daxter HD Collection was $40.
Ratchet and Clank HD Collection was $40.
The Sly Collection was $40.
The God of War Saga was $40.
The Splinter Cell HD Collection was $40.
The Prince of Persia HD Collection was $40.
The Hitman HD Collection was $40.
The Tomb Raider HD Collection was $40.
The Devil May Cry HD Collection was $40.
The Infamous Collection was $40.
The Killzone Collection was $40.
The Resistance Collection was $40.
The Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection was $50 (5 games).
The Assassin's Creed: Ezio Trilogy Collection was $40.

There's a very obvious precedent for these sort of collections and people really aren't being unreasonable when they point out that this is overpriced.

If people buy it at $60 what gives? I as well as others that see less value in it can wait for a price drop. I will. It's not really hard.

But at what point did I say you shouldn't buy it? lol as a fan I myself will buy it but that doesnt change the fact that its a poor value compare to MCC.

No its not, read the info before saying that
I did. Dont see anything major in it

The box says single-player campaigns only.

yAHJs70.png

that does not necessarily imply that there is no multiplayer at all, does it

They probably don't want UC2 and UC3's multiplayer modes overshadowing the beta, or maybe they removed them so that all of the games fit on a single disc?

I'm prepared for disappointment in the graphics. Its going to be essentialy higher res and smoother...

So... like... The Last of Us: Remastered. We already have an idea of what this will be like.

If TLoU:R was good enough for you, this probably will be, too. If it wasn't, this won't. Seems simple.

yeah, and halo 1 was a 15-year-old game.

i mean, just because halo mcc had more games (obviously, since halo has been around for longer) doesn't mean uncharted should use that standard to price its own series.

would that mean ico/sotc collection shouldn't even be 40 bucks when it launched because it only had two games?

it's like, "yeah, well this game had 6 games in it so that means this other series should charge us less!"

makes no damn sense.

If they ever sell them separately on psn, I would grab 2, but no real interest in playing 1 or 3 again. Still though, this is great for newcomers to playstation. They're definitely worth it if you haven't played them before.

SP campaign wasn't broken for 8months. Stop spreading FUD

Wait... people are upset at getting 3 great console games at $20 dollars a pop?

Yes. Yes they are. 3 remastered games at that for 20 bucks a pop. Considering GoW3 remastered is 40 for one game alone, this looks like a much better deal. Damn fucking shame about no MP though.

This is pretty much where I stand, I wouldn't mind playing Uncharted 2 again but the first one doesn't hold up well at all and the third was just mediocre, a step back in every single way.

I feel the same - but if they had a functionality to play all three games back-to-back as one experience, it would be literally awesome and make up for the slightly lackluster 1 and 3.

I doubt they'll do this though. Probably just be a three-game bootup menu like all the other HD collections.

Who in the fuck buys the Uncharted games for multiplayer? Seriously?? Anyone? The game is about the single player experience and I for one cherish the fact that Naughty Dog still gets that.

IIRC this was an Edge piece

That depends.

If they would have included multiplayer, I would have agreed at being a "value" set. It's half the content removed in my eyes from the original games.

First one was single player only anyway. I guess that putting in the multiplayer components of U2 and U3 was just too much work and it could have ended terribly wrong like happened with the Halo MCC. They're trying to compensate for that with the U4 MP beta.
Personally being mostly a single player gamer I don't care about this, I play the Uncharted games for the single player campaigns, so I'm not really interested in the U4 MP beta either.
Really looking forward to see the improvements they're talking about =)
Also it's pretty good it's coming this year.

Yep.

I remember a very interesting piece about how they reverse engineer the games from the retail discs. Google is failing me right now, I can't find it.
The Jak and Daxter games were written in a homebrewed Naughty Dog variant of the Lisp programming language called GOAL. It's a functional programming language (totally different paradigm than C++ and imperative langs) that's dead. Bluepoint reverse-engineered that.

edit: Apparently that wasn't Bluepoint?

yeah and majority of them were ps2 games i.e. less work than doing a remaster of ps3/360 games.

with your logic, 3 snes games are equivalent to 3 ps3 games.

Good value for those who didn't have a PS3 last gen. I can't see myself replaying this during the Fall madness considering I've played each game through at least twice...

Bluepoint was a GOOD choice.

No, patch 1.04 was before they did that. Patch 1.05 is when they increased bullet damage. That's why people loved 1.04 because the original damage values were better -- you had more "health" to retaliate and climb (climbing being a big thing in Uncharted MP). UC2 wasn't a twitch shooter like CoD but ND were trying to appeal to that crowd with Patch 1.05. :/

Patch 1.04 is also well before they had made spawn point tweaks which further ruined the multiplayer -- patch 1.06 they dropped spawn point adjustments because of the increased damage/lower health and this is when the playlist Plunder became unplayable. You could spawn camp and win Plunder games successfully where before it wasn't possible. Plunder then became an unplayable mess and still is to a degree in 1.09 (the last patch the game got).

Sad thing is, in UC3 beta they had everything damage and health-wise working like UC2 and it was amazing but in the final game they went backwards again and lowered health and unified leg and torso hitboxes. Meaning, even if you shoot someone in the legs they take the same damage as if you shot them in the torso.

So, what you're telling me is that the Uncharted 4 Beta is going to be both awesome AND false advertising...(I played the U3 BETA)

Me. Because you know after the single player campaign is done the multiplayer is where the meat of the game is at. This shit is bordering on Nintendo levels of down play.

I'm still pissed at Bluepoint for changing O to X in the MGS HD collection. Unlike most PS3 games, it wasn't dependent on which region your console was from. Even playing it on my JP PS3, X was confirm. A-holes.

Probably the tens of thousands of people that played MP every day for years.
