What's the point of even saying this?
Are you trying to lower our expectations? Is the demo misleading us in some way?
Tabata misled people for months.

I'm like 90% sure this was a mistranslation; he actually says the complete opposite lol, that it's wrong to assume this will be a completely different game from Versus XIII because of a few changesTabata summed up by saying, in short, that Final Fantasy XV, while based on Versus XIII, is a different game.
So FFXV is basically about an all male cast travelling around in their car fighting monsters and any female characters are seemingly only a minor, disposable element of the story?
Must be a lot of Supernatural fans at Square-Enix![]()
I just wonder if he'll ever talk about why Nomura left really. His role on KH didn't really change so it's clear this is another Matsuno situation.
And you are implying he is still misleading us game-content-wise?Tabata misled people for months.
This scene's not gonna happen now, is it...

If they make her just some damsel in distress... ugh.
E3 is not the major media showcase anymore. Gamescom is far bigger (in term of attendance)

I think you should try to "drift into the deep end" sometime...........
Tabata misled people for months.
RIP awesome looking scene![]()
They revealed KH 3 when it was 0% in development..... in... 2013....
November 2017 seems way too far off, especially if they are going to start beginning to heavily market the full game at gamescom. That would be another 2 years. That would be insane.
That's a good point. In that case, I look forward to seeing FFXVI in 12 days time then.
Yeah, but everything about this game is insane.
No noctisNo magic included?
No sequel?
Summons battles scrapped?
Summons relegated to cut scenes?
i dont know what else can he possibly hide.
I just want to know if he left before or after he presented FFXV at E3I just wonder if he'll ever talk about why Nomura left really. His role on KH didn't really change so it's clear this is another Matsuno situation.
So my Star Wars analogy wasn't far off from the truth.Tabata summed up by saying, in short, that Final Fantasy XV, while based on Versus XIII, is a different game.
Announced in 2006. Still scrambling and changing things around with no solid release date in sight.
Way to fuck up a franchise Square-Enix. You too, Nomura.
I bet FFXVI will come out before FFXV does
Did he fire Kitase too? The guy is on a roll.

Naw. The bet is on if this or TLG comes out first.
I doubt Tabata has the power to get him off the project, company head decision, same with Nomura.
gamescon: game cancelled![]()
About a single character's inclusion in the game, and continued reference to her?
TIL: Tabata is the new Toriyama -___-
I mean for some people, Nomura is like a flawless god that never did anything wrong =/
He was the one who wrote the complicated mess of a story for Kingdom Hearts and created vaporware Versus XIII. I love Nomura but the way people have suddenly started to hate Tabata is just plain wrong... and sad.
That's a good point. In that case, I look forward to seeing FFXVI in 12 days time then.
No, he claimed for months that there was nothing to worry about, nothing had changed. Then he proceeded to go on about transparency and listening to fan feedback, etc etc while repeating to fans - namely Versus fans - that things were okay.
This stuff was hidden for months, and it's not just the exclusion of Stella but entire scenes have been removed including the original opening, and they changed Nojima's script and brought in another script writer.
So you are claiming that this all happened after the XV E3 reveal (and Nomura's removal), the past couple of months? Because this is a shocker if true. No, he claimed for months that there was nothing to worry about, nothing had changed. Thank you. So what if they made this change 9 months ago. We know now don't we? Its not like they released the game and was like oh yeah Stella isn't in it anymore, Noctis is the only playable character, and the opening you were expecting has changed. He straight up told us.
Likely because the idea of an all-male party is so atypical for a JRPG, particularly a Final Fantasy when even the last two mainline offline installments had an even split, with the only all-female game being a side-story released as a direct sequel in X-2 (not bothering to count Lightning Returns when a single character =/= a party). It comes across as limiting in respect to party dynamics and individual character perspectives, and it's not like gaming in general is starved for stories focusing exclusively on men. The fact that the designs for the main party are so dull and lacking in variety doesn't help, either. Why is Backstreet Boys on a road trip so devastating for some people?
I say well done on not having another high school or high fantasy setting which has been done in the past.
I agree that's silly, but completely changing and rebranding vaporware is wrong in my book. It's not your idea, not your intention, not your expression. It is Nomura's.
I don't doubt Tabata's talent, but why not do his own stuff instead?

If it really is another Matsuno situation, wouldn't that mean a full clarification on everything that happened wouldn't get out?
Both Matsuno and Nomura have expressed how stressful leading a mainline FF is. Matsuno outright left Square, like Sakaguchi. Nomura said he'd never direct one ever again and will stick to KH. XIII has a very in depth post mordem about development issues. And looking at the original FFXIV, you have to see how bad things are.
:-(

Actually I am not very good at managing myself, especially at managing lots of different projects, but because of my staff and all the staffs are very very intelligent, very good and very capable I’m able to run all the different projects at the same time. And also the most important are the Co-Directors in each project, again they are very capable and skilled people, they are the people actually managing the actual everyday job on the ground. That’s why I’m here, they are supporting me all the time.
Also there is Noctis, he hasn’t been in front of you, I mean moving etc yet in a real gameplay but he will soon, in the future.
When I created Stella, back in 2007, I actually created something that is not my type of character, but obviously time has past since then, about six years now, and then she actually became something that I quite like now.
The reason why we bringed Tabata-san into the team is because he always said to me that it wanted to join the Final Fantasy XV project. I asked him in the team, his vitality and mentality are always very motivated and very high. In the future campaign and until the game is out, Tabata-san himself will be going to speak in front of you guys more often so please ask him in details when he’s available.
They have in past announced FF games way ahead of time.
At this Square event in 2000 they revealed 10, 11, & 12, and I think revealed that that project that Sakaguchi was working on turned into 9.

What if you were in his position? What if you were offered this project which was long stuck in development hell and be asked to complete it. What would you do?I agree that's silly, but completely changing and rebranding vaporware is wrong in my book. It's not your idea, not your intention, not your expression. It is Nomura's.

So basically starting from scratch. I cannot believe this. It's gonna take another few years now.
Crazy how Square released FFVII-VIII-IX-X in such a short time frame, while also making some of the greatest RPGs ever. And now, we're waiting years in between trailers for updates of a game that may or may not have been cancelled. What a ride.
