Dark Souls III leaked info and screenshots [RUMOR - Better Details Write-Up]

Okay, I've added this note to the OP:

---

// Mod Edit:

For the PC note, since it seems to be people's main doubting point, here's the actual quote:

"First off Dark Souls 3 is coming to PlayStation for and Xbox One in 2016. PC is listed, but it says 'negotiable' next to it."

PC is listed as a release platform, so this would most likely refer to the date, or if it's a retailer focused document, is in reference to how buying the SKU is negotiable given how many retailers no longer sell PC games.

I wouldn't let this effect my assessment of the rumor's veracity.

---

I also put in the rest of the screen.

Makes a lot of sense to be retailer focused, it even explains why they even have screens, and bullet points like "15 NEW BOSSES", "5 BILLION WEAPONS", it's something that would be on GameStop's preorder page the moment they announce it at E3.

Think this one might be centered around the Flame of Chaos?

Looks like a city build around a primordial chaos fire

Yes, there are very few bullet points, much like a GameSpot page.

It's also one of the easiest sources to get leaks from since many of them care about their job security when they have bad jobs.

A thread with Dark Souls news is always something I like to read, I hope it's indeed true and Dark Souls III is coming. Having finished Demon's Souls, Dark Souls I & II and Bloodborne I can't wait and can only hope for the best when it comes to the world design, variety in the enemies and different weapons as well.

As for being released on PC I honestly hope it happens. I might not even get the best performance on PC so the console version could be the best choice but this is a game with many fans and enthusiasts who are PC-only consumers or Console-only consumers so releasing in both platforms would be the best for everyone.

If you are a true Souls fan than you know what makes these games so unique and addictive so I don't understand if some people are secretly wishing for this game to not be released on one platform. As someone who love the series I want people to give these games a fair chance and if it gets released on the 3 platforms it means more people will have a great time with the game. I really like this fine hobby and love to have a great time with such games, It's only fair to hope that we get as many people, specially true fans, to have the opportunity to play Dark Souls III. Many of us can't simply afford to own more than one gaming system so people need to make a choice sometimes. I really wish that most of us can have the chance to play this game later on. It's always about the fun and that is what matters in the end.

That sounds reasonable.

I'm not arguing that at all. But when tracking total units sold, you don't only count what sold at the start (which you pretty much mentioned below). And the main reason Dark Souls 2 sold so much at the start was due to the expectations based off of the first game anyway.

And it would be pretty surprising if the first game didn't pick up the bulk of its sales when it was heavily discounted.

Conversely, more people have their hands on the profits of a game on consoles, usually Sony/MS take 30%, retailers around 15-20%, other costs should be around 5%, now you only have 45% to split between the developer & publisher.

So what's the preorder bonus? :P

Is it real ?
Is it fake ?
Is it Dark Souls 3 ?
Is it Bloodborne DLC ?
Will it be made for PC ?
Is the sun melting ?
Am I going hollow ?
Am I going insane ?

I'm confused when it says "15 Bosses".

Demons had 22 bosses, DS1 had 26, DS2 had 30 without counting DLC.

So is it 15 new bosses + reused bosses? That seems a little weird.

I mean, reusing bosses is practically a tradition in the series, but if 15 are new and 15 are old, that's a 50% reuse rate on bosses, and they've never been that blatant before.

I'm getting some serious bloodborne vibes! I'm so excited, ok after this and the E3 trailer I am on complete media black out! Hopefully we get that bloodborne dodge too!

It's so weird. One area looks like Heide's before it sunk, another looks like Aldia's Keep, a third like a Bloodborne street and a fourth like Anor Londo. Then that big everything is burning shot with what looks like Nito on the upper right

Totes real
Incredibly convincing fake if fake. Essentially looks like what you'd expect a Souls game using the upgraded Bloodborne engine to look like
PROBABLY
NOPE
NAMCO LIKES MONEY SO YES
NO THE SUN IS PRAISING YOU BACK
YES
YES

The only thing that's weird is the fact that the UI reverted back to Dark Souls.

That's true, Bloodborne did so much to clean the UI, it would be weird going back to a UI that occupies half the screen.

Then again, the game is supposed to be done by another team & developed simultaneously with Bloodborne, so UI improvements could be implemented later.

...so why were people doubting this again? because they were wrong about one thing?

I'm not sure I'm remembering right, but haven't people dropped a few hints that the Bloodborne DLC will be much, much more than anyone expected? Even ignoring the text there's so many changes it seems unlikely that this is anything but an entirely new game, but I guess there's maybe a chance that this is basically a giant expansion pack or something.

For me this is real, and if it isn't then it's someone's uber mod, but the notion that the site made those for clicks shows that some people do not understand the effort it takes to make those screens and concept art.

UI and armor are obviously placeholders. The game must be very early in development anyway.

It reminds me a lot of DeS too, which is a good thing.

Demon's Souls had 16 bosses, not 22.

Anyway, saying "15 new bosses" is weird, this is either Dark Souls 2 DLC or Demon's Souls remastered with the 6th archstone.

The dot points are also the kind of thing you see on press material aimed at summarising key selling points for journos writing previews.

I actually liked the original Bloodborne UI better than what shipped, and I also liked the original Dark Souls UI better than Dark Souls 2 (but I ended up acclimating to it, so it didn't matter).

Seems like it would be kind of late for more Dark Souls 2 DLC, despite the release of SotFS. Demon's Souls remastered however...mmmmmm.

I'm pretty concerned that this is getting announced so soon. I want them to spend enough time crafting the lore and the world as it was clearly lacking in the previous instalment.

I will also be surprised if Miyazaki is fully directing this game with Bloodborne's DLC still to come out and the fact that Bloodborne was only released a 2 months ago.

They did say that bosses will have this "heating up mode" where they're changed drastically. It could be like the weapons in Bloodborne where there was less but there was a lot more depth to them.

When I think I've got this industry sussed things like this come along to keep it fresh. I can't get my head around the timing for this, it's only been just over a year since Dark Souls 2 and Miyazaki has just finished bloodborne. Yet here we are with screens for Dark Souls 3. From must've got their hands on a tardis. Would really love to find out how they achieved this so quickly in today's industry.

Day one ofc.

Why is the health and stamina bars exactly like Dark Souls 1? Sounds a bit odd, but nonetheless, am I the only one getting a Deep Down vibe to the graphics?

is this the real life?
is it just fantasy?
are you a kid now?
or are you a squid now?
are we human?
or are we dancer?

My #1 want is a Bloodborne-style class with the same kind of shieldless speed and mobility. I think it's going to be tough going back to regular Souls gameplay after spending so much time with Bloodborne.

Haven't played DS1 or 2 very much, but would something like this be easy to fake?

Like, are there mods out there that have completely new levels?

I imagine the heat mode is just something similar to how Bloodborne bosses shift forms and movesets while fighting them which was cool.

Bloodborne's UI definitely could use some improvements, but it's so much better than the previous three games, everything was oversized & misplaced in the previous games.

The currency needs to be near the health & stamina bars, & we don't need to be told what weapons we have equipped, it should be obvious by looking at the character, and something needs to be done about the items/spell slots, but to be honest, I don't know what can they do with those.
