Ah got ya. What a weird tactic. Is it really something all high ranks are doing? Lol
Problem w/ hopping is that you can't squid mid-air = easy prey for chargers.

Maybe going side to side would be more effective? I'd imagine being on foot would make it almost meaningless since you move so slow though
I've noticed that the people in b+ to a that does this. It's usually the close range weapons like splattershot or .52/.96 cal.
Does it yield good results?
On mall I find a lot more success just playing strong support and killing opponents that try to slip into the base after I coat things. The last 45 seconds, I just try to wall break or if I'm already deep in enemy territory, I just throw out all the sprinklers and drag people out into combat situations or assassinate them in one on ones.
It's usually useful getting in front of chargers or roller. With my blaster, I'd use this because it keeps my momentum from walking and the walking while firing is slow to the point it's practically standing still. I'd avoid doing that if I can swim away and get some distance.
How are you having such shit luck?

Maaaaan I got to rank B and apparently became incapable of winning a fucking match after that :/ I've lost like 5 in a row and probably 10 of my last 13 games. I'm done with that for awhile.

If you already mastered Brush, then you have achieved God status. Honestly, it's a weapon you either master, or are awful at. I can't say any other weapon is like this.
So not really sure what else would fall into the worst category, as most people can do decent with most of the other weapons.

Already tried Rapid Blaster and liked it. Although I need to have a couple strength ups for it to be decent at killing, I like its ink coverage per second
I edited my post. But honestly, for the most part I think most weapons can be used decently by everyone. Brush is like, no in between. I don't think its the worst weapon, in fact, everyone that is good with it, they absolutely destroy with it. But Brush is the one weapon you can be absolutely awful with.
Don't know what other weapon that is true for. I am curious what people tell you is the worst weapon though. I think it's awesome you are trying to master the weapons people think are the lowest in the rank. What an awesome way to play!

Lag made it unplayable so I quit for the day, lost/drew so many 1v1's I should have won and have won before lag became a problem. I was still consistently first on my team but died a lot more and thus couldn't carry my team to victory as much anymore.
I'll add you Vylash. I still haven't forgotten on what you did to me on Mario Kart. I'll keep coming back to you. :x

My vote is for the Rapid Blaster. Any Blaster really...
They black a serious punch but the range is so bad. I find them unusable.
I don't think you are the only one, I mean that's fairly obvious just reading here. I'm just surprised by how bad it is for you.

Rapid Blaster? Yes, I think it is the worst weapon for combat, but it can cover ink nicely, and both versions of it have great sub and special weapons.
Standard Blaster and Custom Blaster? No way, it is one of the best weapons in the game. Particularly, the Custom Blaster because it has access to the bubbler.
Disuptor is overpowered. Normal easily.
What does Disruptor actually do?
Isn't smash at like a metric shitton from the pre-release OTs?

People keep saying Blaster for worse (next to Brush) but I like them. The only weapon I can think of that I'm not a huge fan of, is the scattershot. Not Scatter shot Jr, not even Scatter shot Pro. Regular Scattershot. It's too... Vanilla. Standard. Plain. No real weakness or strengths. And there's no challenge in using it.
I don't actually know. However, you can see them in squid form, they're slower, and they're killed far more easily.
