Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I am perfectly fine with 2D crowds if the resources are spent elsewhere but at least make them look like racing fans at racing event.
Forza 5 crowd is straight from the office.

This.

Also, reduced loading times, no announcer during the loading screens, less midday sun,

But one "feature" that will make F6 infinitely better than F5.......No Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear bullshit. Port-a-loos........really?

Saw this posted on the Forza forums, quite an interesting quesiton. I wonder how big Forza 6 will be in terms of gb? Forza 5 is 40gb and it only has 300 ish cars and 17 tracks. How big will FM6 be with 450+ cars, 26 tracks with variable TOD and Weather?

Will the graphics live up to the Forza 5 reveal at E3 (which blew me away), before Forza 5 was downgraded for launch?

I remember it looking lush with 3d crowds and an Nvidia card hidden away in the booth..

Edit: Comparision of E3 build vs Retail - http://www.gamepur.com/feature/1290...parison-screens-graphics-downgraded-vast.html

Holy shit are we bringing back that old debunked rumor. First it was twisted pixels game Loco Cycle that was running on PC. They later came out and admitted it was their decision to do so. Second multiple outlets reported on seeing Ryse and Forza 5 running on actual Xbox ones at that E3.

Welcome to the club!

No, this is a Forza thread! (Thanks!)

1v1 with a buddy is still super fun.

Congrats on the promotion.

It certainly is, and I won't be too disappointed by it if it is. Would be cool if we could have at least a couple AI racers though. And thank you, my life has meaning now!

Which class did you choose? ;)
(This always reminds me of Shining Force, sorry)

Wing Knight.

Bring back Fujimi Kaido please Turn10

tohoforza4

Yes! And give us other hillclimbs like Pikes Peak as well. Nothing's more fun than pushing weak cars for all they've got up a steep hill and just barely getting there. It's great for split-screen laughs.

Ah that takes me back. Remember the Ryse "downgrade"? Good times.

I read otherwise ( cinemablend, eurogamer ). Do you have links for that? Just curios.

You read wrong

And yes, there were some games that were - categorically, without a shadow of a doubt - running on Xbox One hardware. It'll come as little surprise to learn that first party software was more likely to be showcased running on the new console, with Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 5 the most high profile title we saw that was visibly operating on the actual unit.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-hands-on-with-xbox-one

Can't believe people still bring this up.

It was running on an actual Xbone as reported several times.
They probably just needed to tone down things for full grid.

IIRC, that version demoed at Jimmy Fallon's lacked cube mapping among other things, and IIRC it was still running on FM4 physics

Especially when the downgrade was based on blurry images of the e3 version and the final game. I have seen much worse downgrades, too. Doesn't make F5 better but I think the downgrade-shouting masses came to a time where everything xbox related was drawn to bad opinions, no matter if true or not.

I don't trust driving game videos until something is show where it is a player clearly playing the game. Far too much done in photomode or videomode where they graphics are uplifted beyond what you actually play.

No assets, minus higher poly cars, are different in photomode/replays in Forza. ;)

They graphics is basically the same. heheh

In the case of Forza Horizon, photomode and gameplay differences can be almost indistinguishable.

The car your racing is always the high-poly car in Forza, so no asset difference.

Man just threw the game in for a spin at LeMans in the LaFerrari and it sounds so good. Hit the bass up full.

So if the game has dynamic lighting will this fix the awful contrasts on some tracks? I always felt some tracks were too bright in some areas then took dark in shadows especially cockpit view.

Only in time trial and other game modes where you race alone actually.
Well you learn something every day, disappointing. Although the fact that I haven't noticed differences between the cars say on the menu to game, shows why they'd do it.

Have proof of that? I'd like to see a comparison between something like the P1 on a full grid vs solo.

I'm not saying you're lying or anything (I know other games do that), I just haven't seen it myself in Forza 5.

Yep this is true. It looks gorgeous I just wish they toned the contrast down a bit.

I always thought the Top Gear stuff was a good little side thing every now and then.

It was probably quite expensive for what it added to the game.

Probably not so much now...
I hope they still get the guys to do voices in the game without the TopGear branding. It added a bit of personality, which is hard to do in a racing game.

I don't know if we can all agree on what looks better, to be honest:

The 2D crowd in FM5 is worst because they don't move. I would be ok if FM6 didn't have any spectators. Would look better than static cardboard cutouts and it would free up some resources.

Just took these two shots. One is from solo (Rivals/chhallenge) the other is with a full grid.

Why does it matter if they move or not? The only time I noticed the crowds in 5 was the 3d flag holder that were mixed in. Most of the time it's nothing but a blur.

Playing racing games solo can sometimes, to me, often feel quite...maybe "lonely" is the right word. Like I'm running round an open-world game with only a few NPCs who act suspiciously like robots.

I get that crowds are meant to fill some of that void and give it some atmosphere, but they do nothing for me in that respect - 2D, 3D, static or in motion. So yeah, dump 'em.

In fact, drivatars in FM5 do more to make me feel like my solo game world is occupied with personality than crowds.

Actually all the crowds in these racers look quite bad. Some look like bad photo shops, others sorta N64ish with the glove hands and alien hands. LOL. They are look goofy, noone is the clear victor here. Just kill the crowds altogether and have giant animated bill boards with car sponsors. Or have sections at the side of the track with a flat 3D jumbotron with an overlap of streaming video - fans holding up signs rooting for their favorites. In other words severely limit the 2D and 3D,the less the better, cause it just doesn't look good in these games.

Horizon 2's crowds are pretty amazing for a racing game, actually.

Completely non-interactive, though. In PGR (from 3, I believe) they at least used to step back from the barrier when you made an ill-judged power slide.

You can see them at the start of some races and when slowing down at some turns. Ultimately, I don't care. If 2D crowds are back in FM6, I won't care. I'm just stating I think they look worse than 3D modeled crowds that animate.

Is there meant to be a difference between these two?

The top car has less polys.

I agree partially. They look the least worst to me. But someone did say it perfectly, they look like they were ripped with photoshop from an episode of The Office. LOL. Nailed that one! :D I think its a tough call for Sony and Microsoft with what to do with spectators. You wanna have all that power going towards your engine, not wasting even a tiny bit on great looking crowds.

Sigh.

I bought a PS4 at launch—it's the system that made the most sense for me—knowing that I would miss Forza so, so much. Forza is the only Microsoft-exclusive series that interests me.

But the early word on Forza 6 is weakening my resolve to save money. I miss it.
Man I feel the same but I guess have the option to borrow my bro X1 for this and Halo 5.

There are less polygons on the top car.

First i was searching for differnces but once u said polygons i cannot unsee it anymore.
Difference is pretty big. But the lower poly one is full grid and higher is 1 car ??
Thats weird i never heard about it before.
But its defenitly there. My guess is many race games do this, i for one never checked it or noticed it in fm5. Until this comparison :P

Everything I expected from the next Forza. Can't wait to see more at E3.

My dream would be to do a full 24 hour race on Le Man with transitions in time and weather. Would be so cool.
