Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

One thing I would love in this game is more acrobatic motion, if that makes sense. I'm thinking of something like Ratchet and Clank, when you are strafing and can do cool flips and side steps and stuff.

3x rollers vs 3x chargers, how fun.

And have multiplayer be people spamming those movements all the time? no pls.

Am I the only one who has so much fun splatting paint with my main weapon that 90% of the time I keep on forgetting to use my Sub and Special..?

I must be missing out on loads of points doing this but I don't care lol
I keep getting splatted before I pop special so when I live long enough to use them I usually forget they exist.
Seekers are amazing tho, particularly against people who don't know how to target break.

So I did something really stupid yesterday while trying to save a dying hard drive (that died so I lost all my data) which caused me to lose all the data on my Wii U External harddrive. I was Rank 20 with everything I wanted weapons wise unlocked so I lost that.

I did however ease my frustration from playing from W1-W5 in the single player again. Got more scrolls this time and now I'm less stressed. Yay! Today has been a shit day, but ended on a higher note.

so ive been playing with the paint brush on turf war and had a consistent score of 1000 or more with the team im on almost always winning

is the paintbrush considered an overpowered weapon? i hope i not cause i really like it :(

Bummer

At least you level up fast online and the best weapon is early

The issue with the mall is that, unlike the other maps, every route out of the spawn all eventually lead to the same single choke-point, the hill in the center. In order to cross into the enemy's half of the map, you must cross right through that center point. Every other map features middle areas wide enough that you can feasibly enter the middle ground and reach one of the opposing side-alleys for sneakier incursions, but the mall isn't built that way. It's what makes the sniper nests so perfect, since you feasibly only need to worry about keeping an eye on two spots (the center and the opponent's side-alley), and if you can aim, then you win.

I have never not been able to get past the ramp. Ever. I've seen that sniper line chase me, sure, and it's been dangerous and tricky on the other side, but I can always break through at least once or twice a match.

Maybe I'm just good at being an asshole jackrabbit. And maybe I should mention that I use the Splattershot Jr. and have the bubbler shield.

Total lockdown might be possible with 2 expert snipers, I suppose.

If I can tell that I'm being chased on the other side I'll run right on into their base, that usually freaks out somebody and forces them to try to deal with me, giving my teammates behind me some more time at the middle.

Lot of people dismissing it. I'm still not sure where I stand on it. It's ability to lay down paint is amazing and maybe in the best in game, but offense sucks. Think it really depends on your team's makeup, and how well you control the map. It's at it's worse when you're bottled in. It's also a weapon that really depends on teamwork, it's ability to lay a strip of paint into enemy territory is great...but won't really shine unless a teammate is following you.

I thought it was the opposite - it's not too good at spreading paint unless you wave it around like a maniac all the time, but if you play it sneaky and pop out of stealth in peoples' faces, you're definitely killing them.

A lot of people thought it was crap at the beginning.

Which is what you should be doing. It's roller mode is only suppose to be used to traverse enemy paint or unpainted areas.

I take that back. I can read Dan's name but there was no way to dodge that. I felt like I was in an all Japanese lobby

Edit: maybe its me.

That's what you get for playing the blaster!

But yeah, I saw that. Some crazy lag bs going on in that Port Mackerel match, I'm pretty sure I bumped an enemy roller and they died but I didn't for whatever reason.

Yeah, that was me. It was bad during that match.

Quit messing with him. We don't need anymore people going around painting walls like an artist. :p

If you manage to write "keep it fresh" on the wall somewhere it's automatic +300 points.

BTW have you guys noticed the mall in this game has beach next to it? What a sweet location!

It's not impossible (I suppose if nothing else, the directory thing right in the middle can be used as some sniper-cover), but my point was just pointing out what makes the flow on that map so different from most others, particularly if a team has a skilled sniper on it. If the hill is under enemy control, you won't have much time to either climb the ramp into the enemy's side-alley or charge down the other hillside before having opposition on you. It's harder to pull off a "leak and flood" situation compared to other maps.

That said, I still wouldn't say it's the most one-sided map. In my experience, Walleye Warehouse remains by far the most prevalent map for total one-sided victories. I've almost never seen a legitimately close match there by the end, so I probably like it less than the mall.

My tip to you is to learn the distance between you and your enemy to 1 shot them. If you're forced to fight in close range combat (as in so close that your aoe doesn't hurt them) you have to hit them directly or you're dead.

Never try to approach an enemy who knows where you're at since blaster's range is not great. Use corners and edges to your advantage.
Oh yeah, I'm usually not doing too bad if I can get enemies within the max range or near max range of my blaster :) I can usually get a direct hit, though I'm more likely to 2HKO with the splash.

It's the weapons that outrange me that I'm kind of stumped on, like Dual Squelcher or .96 Gal. With Splattershot Jr., if I fight an enemy that outranges me I can usually toss a bomb far enough to force them to move. I don't really know what to do when I'm outranged as a Blaster, other than to go ink somewhere else (which might not be possible if the hill is taken in Arowana Mall).

----

Regarding the Paintbrush; do I have the right idea that I should be mostly using the "roll" part of the PB as a speed boost which consumes ink, rather than a way to actually ink up large amounts of space? It doesn't do a lot of damage on impact and doesn't cover much of the ground anyway. The PB's flicks are really fast but don't seem to kill much faster than normal roller flicks.

Didn't you see me go swimming all the time the first few days?
