Also, the katana looks super badass:

$5M is newgame+ uh, damn. Now we really need to hit that goal.

Sword beat Whip?

Ya'll is some boring people.

There are a zillion games with swords.

You might as well have written in "Gun," since that's the only thing more popular.

I don't think the 5M and Pyrite Coin goals are the same thing.

You are right, let me pull up what they said:

You guys somehow managed to cross 4 off the list. You deserve a Backer Achievement for achieving Backer Achievements.

That brings you to 53 achievements. You're in uncharted territory, but for now all you can think about is the coin you finally hold in your hands.

The Pyrite Coin was clearly not made by professionals—but then, professionals wouldn't try to make a coin out of fool's gold. It's lumpy and a little off-center, and the etching of Miriam on the front would not qualify for most of our fanart achievements.

The strange man behind the desk told you it would unlock a bonus stretch goal. So you hand it to him, and he looks at it with a loupe that doesn't seem to have any glass in it. He cackles. "Thank you!"

"You'll be able to use this in the arcade," he says, pointing you toward a long hall you hadn't seen before. The sign, written in the man's spidery hand, says:

"NEW GAME PLUS. - >"

Finally backed this morning at $60 for a physical copy.

I'm a scrub and outside of having played SotN a million times I've only played most of the Iga games since that one once on their release, so I don't remember how NG+ worked in those. Does it scale at all or anything? What would potentially be the benefit?

Yeah it sounds like NG+ is gonna be some in between goal probably either before or after the 3rd playable character

It was introduced in Aria of Sorrow which itself introduced the soul system where any enemy you killed had a chance of dropping it's soul which Soma could use and NG+ would let you keep any souls you earned along with potentially cranking the game up to hard mode if you wanted.

Aww yeeeeah, Clan Katana was the best clan. Glad I converted from the sinking ship that was Broadsword early on.

Cool stuff in the update, but I gotta know what that $5,000,000 goal is. Cahmaaaan....

also, I hope Boss-IGA isn't an Eldritch Abomination - more of a Belmont pastiche with strut included (and the Iga-hat)

EDIT: and yeah, I don't think NG+ is related to the 5 million goal.

A) And of fucking course, the option I voted for loses. Whips > Swords, why don't y'all understand? I think I'm like 2/234535 with regards to voting polls in Kickstarter Campaigns.

B) IGA in vampire cosplay > IGA dressed up as the local hentai monster. But the update seems to imply that he won't look like that in game so that's good.

C) So do we automatically get New Game Plus now or do we have to get to a certain cash threshold?

I don't think the 5M and Pyrite Coin goals are the same thing.

They aren't, Ben Judd already confirmed this

I didn't even know there was a vote for the weapon, I only knew about the vote for the familiar. :(

I'm happy will katana winning. Where were we supposed to vote for weapons. I thought it would be after the kickstarter?

The Sword vs Whip website was up well before the Kickstarter. Like I said everyone forgot about it after the announcement and I kept on voting for Katana clan every few minutes. ;)

Nice use of the Coin, though I'll forever shake my head at IGA as a backer-only boss and whatnot---kickstart for posterity and not for the incidentally timely when it comes to something this nifty!

Well fuck, the exclusive backer content is very enticing if that much thought is going into it.

I figured it would just be a redeemable code and bam, you get the Swordwhip and some random secret boss unlocks at a set point in the story.

But now the boss is Igarashi himself (well, in some form or what-have-you) and the Swordwhip isn't just granted to you from the beginning? I can't complain about that at all. Hell, I want it!

I still very much have my qualms regarding various decisions made in this campaign, but I'll be backing at the $60 Digital tier to make sure I get that exclusive content. The PC beta and GOG are only icing on the cake, so to speak.

Not only is it a backer only boss, but he's a backer only boss for every tier but the $28 one.
Really puts me off.

Clan Katana stays winning. :x The weapon does look dope, though.

I find it amusing that the super secret extra boss is a fight against the creator himself. There's nothing allegorical about that at all, no siree. :p

And since the last couple of updates the pace of pledges has been accelerating. If this keeps up (and it probably will in some capacity, given the behavior of most Kickstarters), they have a very real chance of clearing $5,000,000. Crazy.

Probably asked a million times, but it'd be nice if someone could answer: are physical copies exclusive to backers? Because I might have to upgrade my pledge if I won't be able to buy a physical copy when the game gets released.

EDIT: Oh:

There will indeed be a physical release of the game in the future. However, the Kickstarter-exclusive box set is a celebration for fans willing to support IGA in his time of need, so the retail version of the game will not contain any of the Kickstarter-exclusive bonus content.

Physical copies won't, but the exclusive back-only content will be.

No, physical copies are not exclusive to Kickstarter; the exclusive bonuses mentioned in the $60 tier are though.

The thing is, shipping to Mexico will likely be tricky, slow and/or expensive, so I'd prefer being able to buy it from Play-Asia or other site like I'll do with MN9. Even if I'll miss the cool extras :[
