Media Create Sales: Week 23, 2015 (Jun 1 - Jun 7)

Wait what? A game debuted higher on Ps4 than Ps3

As someone responsible for a miniscule part of some of those PS3>PS4 numbers in the recent past (Sengoku Musou 4, Dragon Quest Heroes, etc.); I'm buying a PS4 this summer, and I suspect a lot of other people are too for games such as Sengoku Musou 4-II, Godzilla VS., Sengoku Basara 4-Samuragi (which I greatly debated between PS3 and PS4), Chaos; Child, Final Fantasy XV, and Batman Arkham Knight.

Also (at least for the summer) the current game line-up for Vita is looking better than 3DS, with Taiko no Tatsujin V and Tokyo Xanadu.

Surprised Witcher 3 looks set to pass Xenoblade. Who would have thought.

Is it really surprising? Not like Xenoblade sells much to begin with. Lots of western franchises sell way better - GTA, CoD, Battlefield, Destiny. Witcher is just the latest. The previous Witcher games never had a chance to do well in Japan because they were limited to PC and Xbox. I mean look at Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne. Games with western-friendly aesthetics aren't really a handicap in Japan like people seem to think.

wow that Xenoblade Chronicles X vs Witcher 3 comparison is just sad

I guess Splatoon cannibalized the former's legs or somethinge
I doubt that, its not like both games are selling to the same audiences, Inthink it rather has to do with the lack of an RPG fanbase on Nintendo home consoles.

Genei Ibonroku #FE is bound to do poorly too.

Perfect lol

Super happy about splatoon and hopefully it encourages Nintendo to step out of thei comfort zone, rely less on the old guard (the pressure the have on Miyamoto to create a smash hit that uses the Gamepad must be exhausting) and let the younger developers have a shot at making new stuff.

What. Holy cow, I genuinely never thought Splatoon would be successful (like, at all, lol), this is such a great outcome. It's odd seeing WiiU above 3DS.

So Koei Tecmo just announced a 3DS port of Hyrule Warriors. Would be interesting to see if it'll do much better or worse than the Wii U one in Japan, which did quite well.

So DQ Heroes 2 for Vita and Hyrule Warriors for 3DS. I for one am shocked to my core.

...Oh God, now I remember your posts when you were throwing the hypotesis of HW 3DS. LEGIT SHOOK.

We keep saying PS4 will probably overtake WiiU sales in Japan late 2016. If a couple big titles like KH3 and others did poorly, and the WiiU has an okay holiday season with a huge Zelda holiday in 2016...

In other words, is it possible the PS4 will never pass the WiiU until 2017 or even ever?

Just looking at 3DS eShop Japanese charts, I see Fire Emblem If there, already. Is it available for pre-purchase?

I expected Stella Glow to bomb. It's a no name game and basically the swan song of a dead studio. A shame, because it looks pretty good.

PS4 is still surely going to pass WiiU in late 2016. There are simply to little title for Wii U which had chances of increasing the hardware sales.

Mario Maker is the only title i can see moving the market for those minecraft type of players. While PS4 had DQ, FF and possibly all other big Japanese IP which make sure the worst come to worst, PS4 will still do better than Wii U.
