Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Have they revealed Miriam's voice actress yet? I hope they don't make her a mute "blank slate". She deserves a personality and a background.

Who'd you like to voice her in English? I'd love another MGS alumni to voice her too so I'll have to say Jennifer Hale for Miriam!

Lucy Briggs-Owen (Vicar Amelia, from Bloodborne) is the voice I imagine for her in my head.

For the japanese version, I imagine her with Megumi Toyoguchi's voice (at least her voice in Nisekoi:, especially when she says "boy"), Hana <3

Kimberly Forsythe or bust.

Interview with Siliconera

This makes me glad and it's the reason why I back projects on KS. Sure, I'm happy to get the game but I want Devs to seriously consider public funding. It's why despite all the backlash, I'm happy that MN9 got made (putting aside that I enjoyed the beta)

There wouldn't be Bloodstained without MN9.

I'm eager to see what Bloodstained's success will, in turn, result in.

This is a good interview, to think that publishers showed interest only to close their doors when they saw the full concept, at least we will have this game now.

And Rie Kugimiya as the japanese voice.

Not really, dear god no

Seriously, though, I think Maaya Sakamoto would fit her really well. Ryougi was perfectly voice casted in that sense, and I think there's some similarities here in character.

Roguelike.... I can't even ...if it makes it to 5 million, this game will be the complete, ultimate love letter to the genre and all kinds of takes on it. Regular mode, Classsic, the minigame prequel, HoD mode, and now Roguelike.

Rogue like would be pretty interesting. I'll always prefer the well crafted design of an IGA game, but having a rogue like add on would be a lot of fun.

Not a big fan of rogue like games, but rogue like metroidvania sounds like too much fun. Hopefully the plan is for the procedurally generated castles to have power ups you need to find to explore more of the castle with multiple bosses and an end goal boss that earns you the share with friends code.

If you guys are interested in a game that is basically a procedurally generated Castlevania with combat focus, check out Abyss Odyssey. It has a serious CV vibe going on style- and theme-wise.

It would add a shitload of replayability to the game.

OK, I was wondering what mode could possible live up to the hype, and this mode is really close to doing so.

On the other hand people were worrying about lesser platforms like the Wii U and the Vita affecting the game design, but this right here is sure to cause huge design changes going forward.

Well, I'm loving the new announcement and even considering raising my pledge to $125 to get a physical PS4 copy with all the extra exclusives and what-have-you.

I sent them a question regarding the beta access, but does anyone know if they've said anything regarding access still being given to people who pick a console physical item and then have the PC as the additional digital copy in the $125 tier?

Just backed for a digital copy. I wasn't going to but I just decided fuck it & backed it. Now that the $5 million stretch goal has been revealed I'm glad I did. Hopefully it'll reach it.

If roguelikes have infinite replay value, how come they are always boring after 5 hours?

Yeah this is generally my problem with rogue like/procedurally generated content I eventually just get bored of technically different but still the same areas and challenges

it really depends on how well crafted they are. I mean Rogue Legacy is enjoyable for me still but I can't play it a ton because of the problem you listed.

on the other hand the binding of isaac I have sat down and played for hours straight as even if I hit the same rooms there are so many items and they interact differently that each run can go drastically different. In either case I could see why people wouldn't enjoy playing the same stuff over and over but I am excited for this, especially if it supports co op like the main game is going to.

Cool. Not my personal brand of mindblowing crazy goal, but cool. I hope we reach it, but now I know that I'll be content even if we don't.

Craaaaaaaaaaaaap.

I really shouldn't pour anymore money into this KSer because of my vacation next week.

But the thought of something that would basically make this game truly have unlimited replay value? That's hot. I may be tempted...

Exactly why you like Isaac is why I don't lol different items that change up how the character plays are cool, but not enough for me to want to repeat the same type of content over and over.

I'm hoping this roguelike mode is truly a roguelike metroidvania mode where you get a randomly made castle the size of 1/4 ~ 1/2 a gba igavania title that gives you a few hours of gameplay to fully explore.

eeeeeeeh

It's a good thing, in a way, it means I no longer care about it hitting 5 million.

EDIT: You know what? Reading it, it sounds like what the Chalice Dungeons should have been. I'll allow myself to be a little bit excited for it.

EDIT2: Are there leaderboards for this mode? It would be really cool if RotN GAF would have the creator of the OT generate a new dungeon every week and share it for us to compete in, wouldn't that be interesting?

It's annoying how I'd rather have the rogue-like stretch goal moreso than most other stretch goals.

I wish they would maybe put it to a quick vote before they list out their stretch goal plans. Or, put more creative thought into their stretch goals. Instead of having us go through four shitty stretch goals to reach the wanted fifth one, why not have all five stretch goals be interesting and constructive to the design of the game to begin with.

In fact, kickstarter stretch goal or not, a rogue-like feature for this type of game is almost crucial as it gives the game immense post-campaign value. This isn't a matter of adding in a feature to get more backers, this is a feature that should be in the game for the sake of making a good game.

Swordwhip looks kinda bad. I'm happy that the concept is exactly what people expected, though, it's pretty much the Threaded Cane from Bloodborne, and that's absolutely amazing!

Hopefully more people feel the same way as me about the design and they tweak it a bit.

I think full mod support (for custom levels/enemies/items/etc.) would have been the realness. Procedurally-designed levels sounds interesting, but they're fairly hard to get right. Instead of hand-crafting levels, you're spending a ton of time fine-tuning and balancing algorithms. I suspect doing something like that right is going to take a fair amount of resources itself, and it's only going to be a good mode if they can get it right.

There are so many modes and bonuses in this thing i really hope they can deliver.
