Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

The 5M goal is really nice IMO. I have viewed that as a possible goal from very early on in the campaign and I think it has a good chance of making it, hopefully it does.

I was really excited to see my question featured in the Ask IGA video, but him not answering the question was a disappointment. Admittedly I understand the reasoning and respect it though.

yeah, such a shame we will never know about the 1999 battle :(

But IGA no longer has anything to do with Castlevania, he cant talk in detail about an unreleased game, at least we got some info about the development of Aria of Sorrow.

Have they said anything about Cross buy? I hope it comes to light before surveys go out. Want Physical PS4, digital Vita, but if it manages to pull off Cross buy i'll pick another version.

Mighty No 9's KS ended in October of 2013 and we didn't learn about its Cross Buy feature until last month.

If it's coming to Bloodstained I wouldn't hold my breath of knowing about this anytime soon.

Whoa, the money received on the the third-to-last day ($204,002) was surprisingly similar to the third day ($204,094).

I guess that doesn't account for Paypal-ers though.

We currently are at 4166k in Kickstarter pledges, with an additional 133k from Paypal pledges, that puts the campaign at just under 4300k.

We have only 200k more to go until the 4.5 Million goal is reached.

Awesome, I really hope the $4.5MM goal is reached. Mighty Gunvolt was pretty cool and I imagine Inti would do something similar for Bloodstained.

We'll hit the 4.75m goal by tomorrow morning.

Yep, 4.5 is a given, I'd even say 4.75 goal is likely. 5M, if I had to bet, I'd say we're going to just make it.

So glad Iga has had so much success here, it's going to be a grueling wait!

Bloodstained is now $20,000 away from being the most funded video game project on Kickstarter.

EDIT: Some one brought up the point if Yamane couldn't do the music for Bloodstained, who would a respectable alternative be? My suggestion was to get some of the ex-members of the KKC on board. These guys are mainly responsible for some of Konami's earliest music such as the Dracula Battle Perfect Selection CDs and some Arcade stuff such as Gradius. Miki Hagashino was also a member and along with the KKC did the music for both Suikoden 1 and 2 as well.

At this point $4.5m is locked, it'd have to do significantly worse than the previous days to miss it. If it does yesterday's pace ($204k) on each of the last two days, and counting only the last revealed Paypal number of $133k, it'll hit $4.625m. (And it will definitely do more than yesterday's pace today.)

Yeah, today's total will definitely be higher than yesterday. Four hours in and we're at $84254 whereas yesterday we had $35627 in the same time frame.

I can't check the video right now but it seemed more like he didn't want to get in the way of someone picking the series back up and working with it. I completely respect that and in all honesty IFA new game in the original timeline was made that setting would make the most sense.

Knowing current Konami if we see Castlevania again it will be another reboot, a mobile cash in or some sort of Pachinko machine though.

She would be difficult to replace IMO. It's not like Kojima where someone else being used was common, if I'm not mistaken she was a part of every game Igarashi directed or produced with the exception of Castlevania Chronicles, Rebirth (Which was outsourced to the very capable M2) and Nanobreaker. On top of that she was working on Castlevania games even before IGA was, starting with Bloodlines.

If hypothetically she wasn't involved, I think getting some of the (probably ex-) Konami composers who worked on the older games would be good. Miki Higashino is good but I don't think she'd fit as well in this sort of a project, although I'm sure the output wouldn't be bad.

Aside from Konami Alumni I think Manabu Namiki would be a good fit. He had some really good tracks with a Castlevania sort of feel in Deathsmiles and his work on Castlevania Rebirth was solid.

The KKC Are Ex-Konami composers and musicians, All of them. it's abbreviation for Konami Kuheiha Club. Their music varies from any of their games be it Contra, Suikoden, Silent Hills, Sparkster / Rocket Knight Adventures, Gradius / Salamander / Parodius, and of course Castlevania.

Even Yamane herself was a member.

For example Yuji Takenouchi who worked alongside Motoi Sakuraba for Dark Souls 1 and 2's soundtrack, or Kenichiro Fukui who not only is a former KKC was also a member of Nobuo Uematsu's live band, The Black Mages.

Yeah there are lot of relatively unknown names in the scope of big name composers that did Konami music through the years, I mean the list of KKC members is very long

Typo on previous post should have said "If hypothetically she wasn't involved, I think getting some of the (probably ex-) Konami composers who worked on the older games would be good".

Konami games pretty much always had great soundtracks so I'm sure there is a lot of talent to the series from KKC. I don't know who most of the people are unless they got a lot of recognition for a specific projects (I.e. Tappi Iwase for Metal Gear Solid) though so there's not a lot to discuss there. Only real thing I can add is that just about any of them that worked on an older CV game would be a good choice, just about every game in the entire series had great music.

Haha, that explains a lot!

IGA: Hey publisher, can you give me 5 million dollars to make a cool Igavania game?
Pub: Hmm, I dunno... Aren't these games sort of unpopular these days? I guess if you can prove that people want the game by raising $500k on KS, we'll put up the other $4.5mil, deal?

IGA then raises 5 million dollars all by his goddamn self.

soo, there are backers from around the world and the wii u is region locked, and these games are being posted fom the us, could wii u kickstarter version be US only? or will they produce pal/ntsc j for backers for other regions?

There is an external publisher on board that will probably be handling the different regions for the physical release.

Also digital versions won't have this issue because they'll simply release the game on the eShop in the specific region whenever that happens.

Since i doubt, that the US version will have german, french, italian or spanish text-options, which the game should have, as stated on the kickstarter-page, i guess the pub will use his international branches and/or partners to handle localization.

PS4/XOne games in europe are usually handled through them, too.

well I hope so, I kinda want a Wii U version now and being in the UK a NTSC version of the game would be useless to me

According to Ben Judd they just hit 4325K a few minutes ago.

Looks like the 4.5m goal is pretty much a lock. Who knows, maybe we'll get to 4.75 by the end of the day. That would be amazing.

I wonder how many players will be able to play in the online coop mode. Harmony of Despair allowed 6 players and had 8(?) characters to choose from. So far we only have 3 characters in Bloodstained.

Yes there was only 6 players in HoD, however players could pick the same character. Just the duplicates were different colors

So they could effectively do the same thing with Bloodstained, just with different colored Miriams and whoever else with different equipment / skillsets to distinguish from each other.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Oh that's right. Since the base game only had 5 characters there was usually at least 1 duplicate.

Would be awesome to get a playable character in this online mode that's not playable in the main game. So either Gebel or Johannes could be playable if they're not already in the main game.

Would be fun.

Armature or someone else should ask epic and/or nintendo and/or sony(lol) to help with the port of the ue4, it's in everyone's interest, everyone will gain something from it, it would be stupid from epic, nintendo and sony to not help with the port.

I'm sure they will be able to get some level of support from Epic. It's in thier best interests it gets ported to those platforms as if nothing else it makes the engine more attractive in general.

According to this interview all Epic did was wish them luck and bringing outside help only complicates things in many ways (including legally) so they're doing it all by themselves.

EDIT: Bloodstained is now the highest funded videogame Kickstarter ever. Congrats to Iga and his team. They earned it.

Sony: No way are we investing any time into anything involving the Vita.

Mmmm... i feel slightly dsappointed by epic :\

That's exactly the point of the "lol" after "sony" in my post.

Never fails. As soon as "procedurally generated content" is mentioned as a SEPARATE MODE in a game, people lose the ability to read and think it means the entire game world even in story mode will not be meticulously crafted.

Happened with Bloodborne, too, when Chalice Dungeons were first revealed.

"OMG I DON'T WANT RANDOMLY GENERATED SOULS GAME. GIVE ME MY FINELY CRAFTED WORLD BACK."

Reading comprehension straight out the window.

And I am one of the people that said that for Bloodborne, as well as one of the people saying it here. It being a separate thing in Bloodborne didn't stop it from being the worst part of the game. It's not that you can't make a good randomly generated thing, it's just that it is less then likely when it is just an addon and not the focus of the game. Rogue Legacy and Spelunky are great. They are full games designed around the special functions of being randomly generated with systems in place for it. The chalice dungeons in Bloodborne were awful and a waste of time. It would have been better use of their time for them to have just made a set underground area going from Byrgenwerth back to the city with some of the chalice bosses in it then what they did.

It being a separate mode has no relevance on what I expect the quality of it to be or even how it effects development of the rest of the game.

Also congrats Bloodstained! Torment couldn't be the king forever.
