The boss, I agree with, the weapon, not so much. A weapon is something that won't affect the length of the game, so it's alright. Then again, the boss is almost a joke boss, so it's sorta ok, especially if you don't encounter him in normal gameplay.

It's one of those pretty unknown cult titles, actually. This is also the HD version, the original is in NES style:

The game is known for its really high difficulty, its enormous map, its tricky puzzles, and its fantastic soundtrack.

Yes. Despite the fact he occasionally gets hit and even died earlier, his performance is really solid. I don't know much about the differences between the speedruns of the HD and the original versions (I'm only loosely familiar with the original cause I know J who is one of the runners of it), and that can be completed in 2h30m-ish.

I am so, so tempted to increase my pledge from $65 to $135 (shipping to the UK). Can't really justify it though, I'm not going to get paid much this month due to leaving one job and not starting another for two weeks. Plus admittedly the main thing I want is a second copy for the Vita and, well, it'd just be cheaper to buy it when it comes out anyway.

I just look at it -- And I don't like it. I don't mean that I don't like Igarashi's games, I do, but I don't like what I see in terms of the Kickstarter. It's a big game show. It's so sliced up with gizmos and bonuses and gifts and stretch goals -- It's so parsed out. Something about this level of exploitation makes me uncomfortable.

But.. I love Igarashi's Castlevania games. (I just recently started playing Portrait of Ruin again in bed every night.) That's the conflict.

You think that all this gamifying kickstarter stuff is gonna matter after today? All that mattered was they got a shit ton of money and after this all that money will be making a great game. In fact the majority of backers seem to enjoy the game part of the kickstarter.
