I just realized that Roy have those cheerleader leggies.

So when is New Pork City coming back? That stage would actually work for eight player Smash, and Lucas needs something to call home.
I think New Pork City would be much more playable in HD. But they should tweak the colors/textures/lighting so it's easier to distinguish the platforms you fight on from the city in the background.

What happened to Street Fighter and Nintendo after the SNES? Did SFIV on the 3ds get properly updated or did Capcom just completely ignore it after it launched? Did that success lead to a Wii U port? Nope, Street Fighter has almost been completely divorced from Nintendo since the SNES days and is going to be Sony exclusive for the next 5 years.

There was CVS 2 for GC, Alpha ports on the GBA, street fighter on virtual console, Tatsunoko vs capcom and its expansion, Project X Zone and its upcoming sequel, and SSF4 3D.

Nintendo has only missed out Street Fighter 3 of the numbered entries (but they did put SF3 characters in Alpha for GBA) and SF5 is a sony exclusive, SF is going thru a complicated marriage to sony, but Ryu and the characters have been very involved everywhere, including nintendo, all along.

Ryu is super deserving to be in Smash Bros. Some of you are crazy. Easily one of the most important and iconic third party characters to appear on a Nintendo console. I think many people complaining forget how huge Street Fighter II was on the SNES, or weren't born.

Next on the "deserving third party characters" list for me would be: Simon Belmont, Leon Kennedy, Crono or a Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy/Monster Hunter rep.

Then you have the "impossible" third party reps that deserve to be in there: Banjo Kazooie and Pierce Brosnan James Bond =(

People aren't interested in some characters and would have preferred others.

Not that hard to process

Yes because Ryu's and Roy's inclusion means your favorite character isn't going to be in the game.

Don't like them, don't play/buy them. It's fine not to be excited for a new character, I'm not excited for Fire Marth. But saying that they shouldn't be in the game just because you don't like the character and would have liked someone else is childish and selfish.

Not directing this at you, but just people who are shitting up the thread by saying ________ shouldn't be in the game or I wish we got ______ instead of ________ as if there's a locked number of characters in this game and there's some sort of elimination process.

SFII was so big back in the day that I remember an incident where a robber broke into someone's house and was caught the next morning playing SFII in the living room.

I was only a kid at the time, but I've read up on all this. Quite the cultural phenomenon.

I never got why people think Marth is bad.
Or why Robin needs buffing.

Marth lost range and speed on a lot of his moves. All of his aerials have huge landing lag. Good thing is shield breaker is good in a game where shields are godly

Robin is the "Okest" of all the Fire Emblem characters but he is still not that great.

This Smash design is a mix of Roy's Awakening design and his original one. His armor is the original and he also has short sleeves like in the original, but many other elements of his design come from Awakening, like the white segment in the middle of his shirt and the long boots (although they've been redesigned). His belt and arm armor are straight out of Awakening's redesign too without changes.
His hair doesn't look terrible, the headband isn't as outrageously long, he doesn't have a bunch of belts wrapped around him, that dumb shoulder guard isn't there, the colour scheme is his classic look and his posing doesn't make him look like a tool, so he's already a million times better than his Awakening design

I think there's some room for Roy salt. Because what are the chances of another Fire Emblem character after this?

I'm wondering if Konami even gives a crap about Smash enough to sign off on Snake or a Belmont in Smash. The rest I have no qualms with

Because Marth is bad and Robin needs buffs.
You can't just say that. Explanations would be nice.
The only reason people think Marth sucks is because he isn't top tier anymore. Needing to put actual effort into a character? Yeah, he sucks. Same people who think Meta Knight sucks (Granted he has actual problems like heavily disjointed hitboxes)

Robin is perfectly fine the way he/she is, which is another problem. Can't a character be balanced without being easy to abuse or have something people can spam?

It's going to be a much harder sell in future Smash titles for another FE character if for all intents and purposes both the "Smash fanbase" and Sakurai himself feel like Marth, Ike and Roy are mandatory, Lucina is a face of the franchise and Robin is the biggest play style wildcard. People are going to see "new FE character" and go goddamn rabid, especially if DK, Metroid and Wario continue to go under served.

Ugh.

Why couldn't Sakurai at least put Dream Land 64 on 3DS and Fountain of Dreams on Wii U?

Or.. put the FoD track in the Halberd stage, and give Dreamland 64 a nice Rainbow Curse song.

"Oh but guys, she totally has reduced landing lag! She totally has a lot more knockback on everything! She looks like Melee Marth! Best girl. RIP Marth. They should have replaced Marth."

Funny how that all worked out.

It was kinda funny seeing the Lucina waifu brigade get the wind knocked out of them when it turned out she was Marth only worse. It will be even funnier if Roy is legit good and ends up being the best FE character. XD
