Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

Xbox Won

I'm not even exaggerating. Kudos to MS on the bomb dropped. Hopefully future consoles strongly focus on building a software ecosystem like Steam has. I would still get a PS4 for myself, but I'd definitely recommend an Xbone to anyone who asks me for a recommendation.

its not streaming

how do we know this? the guy on stage said "100 games will work by launch" and "thanks to the power of xbl" i'm not taking sides here, i just don't believe native emulation is possible. I'd be asking the same questions if sony were making the claims too

Gaddam! How many mics did MS bring to drop today?

Sony has got one hell of an uphill battle with their conference, but tbh, I can't imagine it beating what MS has currently shown (unless The Last Guardian and FF7 Remake are released next week).

Holy shit!! I can play my XBLA games on the Bone?!!! I'm going to need a bigger HDD!

This is huge. If Sony has no bc surprise, I can see the sales swinging over towards Xbox in the future. Hopefully every publisher is on board with this.
This won't make a difference at all for sales. It's a great thing to happen but not the game changer some are saying.

It's not a game changer, but it's quite a few notches above immaterial.

This is a big deal and a very good feature and really adds a nice bulletpoint to contrast their system with Sonys.

Hope all of you Xbone owners were grabbing the free digital 360 games included in Games with Gold as dun dun dun... Those could work on the Bone now!

This is really great, but I just wish they were able to implement this at launch.

All that grumbling by people about no BC and it also would have helped people stay with the XBOX brand rather than going to Playstation.

I'm assuming it includes XBLA titles and DLC too?

Very much looking forward to this but a bit wary of the "Publishers need to approve" bit.

There may be no work involved for them but I still expect some will block BC and instead try and get some more money through remasters.

It's certainly better than nothing, but the online requirement and incomplete library are huge negatives for me. Relying on publishers to approve games you already own is incredibly dumb.

It times well with the rumour about stopping x360 support.

Just pathetic that they kept it from people at launch if it was possible.

They definitely gave the impression that it wasn't streaming.

Been wanting to play Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon again....Probably should give fable a go since I've never played them.

Also, I wonder if the digital library available to play with will include original xbox games...

So I can simply put my Xbox 360 game into an Xbox One and it'll start playing? This is awesome.

Nops... You will ONLY be able to play it IF MS recompiled the game and make it available to DOWNLOAD ( you are good to go to download the game, install and play).... otherwise. Nops.

Curious how it is going to work for games that have a last and current gen version.

Guess it is finally time to pick up that external drive.

All I want to know is if i can play my Xbox 360 Japanese games that are not region free on an US Xbox One.

Otherwise, importing a Jap X1.

Very much looking forward to this but a bit wary of the "Publishers need to approve" bit.

There may be no work involved for them but I still expect some will block BC and instead try and get some more money through remasters.

And then there's the issue like... THQ games
