Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

My cloud saves work and the emulation seems 100% faithful so far.

Not bad, Microsoft. Not bad at all.

Installing some of mine just to test out how it is. Really bummed that the handful of games I want to play most might never get added to the list of playable ones. We'll see.

Super Meat Boy seems to work well, can you only use cloud saves for the emulated games? Not getting a HD save option

Guys, quote this message for my gamertag if you'd like an invite to the Preview Program. It'll be in the email line. I've sent out about 10 today so I'm not sure if there's a limit but figured I'd try to help. Hit me up and I'll send it asap

Thank you sir

Most of the good games are at the top of the list or at least on the first two pages, but people need to put in work for Shadow Complex and Dead or Alive 4.

Sorry if this has already been answered, I just woke up, do we know if this will be region free? i.e. Using an NTSC-J disc on a US Xbox One and we can play it? I just want to play my Cave shooters, because if not, this will be completely useless to me.

edit: for clarification, if you quote my message as if you're going to reply to it, you'll see an email section (above this edit) revealed and my gamertag is listed there. Send me an invite on Live and I'll add ya that way. :)

sent you a message

Just sent you a message, cheers!

I just sent you a friend request, thanks!

Added. Really appreciate you doing this.

Thank you sir
Np guys, glad to help. Added about 12 so far and send the Preview invites. Don't remember how long it takes to get a message but it should be pretty quick. You'll then have to download the Preview app, select the option for Registration and then it can take up to 48hrs from there.

Good luck.

So how do you bring up the 360 guide? I can make it come up using the Achievements menu on GW but can't otherwise. I heard it's Xbox+Start or Xbox+Back but both of those just go to the Xbox One dash.

Press BACK and START at the same time brings up the old 360 guide!

Spoiler:
If you record a 360 game with a snapped window the recorded footage will show the full screen including the area for the snapped window but in black. So better unsnap if you use Game DVR 5 min. recording option :)

I'm having a weird problem with BC. I live in Finland, all my systems have regions set to Finland, Xbox One uses finnish language but all BC 360 games are in german. And it seems like there's no way to change the language. Anyone else having similar problems?

Good tip, I was wondering how to do that. thx

Great, thanks.

Still waiting for Hexic or anything else I own to appear, weird how it's only got one game so far.

Do 360 developers submit source code when they submit their games for approval (like years ago)? I guess that would be one way to re-target on x64. If not I can't imagine how they are doing this safely.

Whoa, there it is. It's not emulation, but rather compiled to x64. Makes sense as emulation would have been too slow.

Mass Effect has x64.

Banjo Kazooie is also x64.

Tried PDZ and it said install disc, but apparently it's not compatible at the moment. VERY SAD :(

The name of a Hyper-V container doesn't have any bearing on the code running inside.

Is Hexic meant to pop up automatically?

If it is on your account it should. In you never added it as a free "purchase" and just played it off the pre-installed copy on your 360 then it probably won't pop on Xbox One. Look up Hexic HD on Xbox.com and make sure your account owns it.

yes sir! Just booted up world of Keflings. It's kind of weird, u get the 360 logo boot up, then you get the XBLA screen and bam It works. Even shows me friends online with the old 360 icon. Streaming on twitch even works

That's because it's running the 360 OS.

How do my 360 digital games end up on Xbox One? Assuming they are on the list...

You download them.

Region setting on 360 is a config file. Each game can have its own emulator setting, so it would be possible to have a JP emu running on a US One assuming there were no IP issues.

Source code has nothing to do with it if they are using a Hyper-V solution as indicated in interviews. Each game is running inside a virtual 360.

Think of it like running a game in DOSBox. Or a Windows game in Parallels on OS X.

Thanks for the info, but from where? My titles don't show up under the Xbox One store or in My Games.

If you're in the preview program eligible titles will show up under the Ready to Install section of your games. Just like any other XBO title.

If you're not in the preview program or you don't have any eligible digital titles, then they won't show up.

XBL itself has been slow all day ever since the announcement, so if you don't see anything under your game section just let it sit there for a few minutes.

If you are in the preview program and still aren't seeing anything, make sure you have the latest system update and make sure that Hexic HD is on your account as that is both free and an eligible title.

Welp, I know for a fact I haven't done that, but your link redirects me to the homepage. Got another one?
