Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

I think they're totally separate. You have to be invited on XB1
 
This is awesome! I got a bunch of games downloading right now. The only thing I am really pumped about is all the old XBLA games. Hope they get them all working.

Meh if its streaming.

The former would make me consider getting an xbone once the games I have on my 360s backlog are supported so I can get rid of it. The latter would not at all.

It's on the console. You download a digital version of the game once you insert the disc (or just redownload from your library if you're on digital) and it works.

It works 100% offline as long as you downloaded the recompiled version beforehand.
 
Had they announced this at launch that would have been epic but personally I barely have time to play all the new shit that comes out much less my old games.

I do not own an X1 but this is serious incentive to invest. What a megaton this one was. I do not remember reading any rumor about anything like this.
 
huh I'm playing geometry wars on xbo

I was kinda indifferent about this but it's neat to see some of my 360 digital games showing up in my library

yes sir! Just booted up world of Keflings. It's kind of weird, u get the 360 logo boot up, then you get the XBLA screen and bam It works. Even shows me friends online with the old 360 icon. Streaming on twitch even works

Still can't install Nuts N Bolts, but I got Geo Wars, Perfect Dark, Banjo 1, N+, and other XBLA games working just fine. Loving the implementation so far.

Geo Wars looks 720p to me. I really doubt that there will be any change to the native resolution. Framerate might be improved for some games, but only as far as the cap.

So it acts like a standard Xbox one app not like laying Wii games on a Wii U?

Exactly, remasters seems to be a viable solution at the moment and I do not think publishers want to lose out on that revenue. That isn't to say they won't support titles being allowed for BC, but I wouldn't be surprised if this feature isn't widely supported. Good for Microsoft for allowing this feature though! Funny how things change so much for a company that started off so different from where they are today.
 
God damn, well played Microsoft. There's still a ton of people out there on last gen, and if they're looking to buy a new system and see "oh, this one plays my old games for free" that's a huge selling point.

Geometry Wars Retro Evolved works perfectly. Seems to run at its original res, completely playable, no glitches or framedrops at all. Works exactly like the original besides the fact that I can't open the 360 guide right now.

Check your OS version.

If it isn't 6.2.13171 / xb_rel_1507.150610-2200 then you forgot to enroll in the public update when you got in.
