i bet you some people at sega are watching the kickstarter with a lot of interestAll people said me if was impossible when I opened a thread regarding the possibility of using Kickstarter. But here we hare, with half the goal reached in a day...
Also, I'm sad, no news of Shenmue 1+2 HD port?
GT is like the anti Giantbomb those guys just do not seem to enjoy anything anymore.
Krej, what would you bet, Sony or Sega funding this?
europe here, good morning my fellow earth citizens.
don't have much money, but 29$ won't kill me..already backed up.
I'm still trying to believe what happened.
I love how Bosman says "I've regained my composure" right before the Shenmue 3 bomb hits
Same.really really wish there was a ps4 physical copy.
Always wanted to play the first 2, and now even more so. Might buy the second game for Xbox, but is the only way to play the first on Dreamcast?
Shenmue 1/2 rereleases, I wonder if anybody at SEGA has thought about that
Mashin Haters said:did u guys watch that kickstart video? The voice acting is absolutely terrible. I hope they redo it and facial animations.
Sony is almost definitely funding this.
Man who would have thought that Shenmue 3 would be trending on twitter.
They're definitely an essential part of the game's funding. This Kickstarter just gauges interest, and more importantly, it raises awareness of the title and allows long time fans to get involved directly. It's working out brilliantly at the moment.I found it a bit annoying that Sony announced it on their stage and didn't even fund the game. Announcing a kickstarter is pretty low, in my opinion.

Is this beating Star Citizen in getting this high this fast?

Ok so after watching the video and reading through the page, there some weird things that stuck out:
If I missed any details please clear them up for me! I don't think this model is inherently problematic (using Kickstarter to gauge interest in niche games) but there are a bunch of things about this Kickstarter specifically that could have been done better or made more clear.
- The pitch video seemed a bit amateurish? Also what's with the awful dubbing (the game characters)? I get the old Shenmue dub had a certain "charm" but its 2015, dubs this bad shouldn't fly anymore (then again it doesn't seem clear they intent to dub the actual game into English which i misleading - or did I miss that)?
- Since none of us are stupid, we can assume an outside publisher is involved. However, even if IGA didn't name them at the start, he was super upfront that most of the budget (if they only hit their goal) was coming from a publisher. Sure we can assume a publisher is involved here but I don't like that we HAVE to assume nor do I like that they aren't named (again we can assume Sony but we shouldn't have to assume shit).
- Who is developing this game exactly? I see a list of people involved but I I can't link them all to one development house. Yooka-Laylee is Playtonic (ex-Rare). Bloodstained and Migthy No. 9 are Inticreates. Shenmue II is YsNet? Shibuya Productions? Neilo Inc?
- Reward Tiers seem wonky? Like there should be more gradations? Maybe they calculated and felt it would be better this way though?
- No budget breakdown. I hate when Kickstarters skip out on this :/
- In general the writeup feels like it could be a lot more robust :/
Think of all the loose storylines that'll be tied up, after a fucking decade.
You know Lan Di is going to eventually meet Xuiying, and it is going to be so fucking epic.
Imagine the moment when Ryo and Lan Di finally meet, and Ryo has to reflect on Xuiying's words about revenge, and how it consumes you.
FUCK
Bumped my pledge up to $500.

Never thought I'd make an uncontrollable yell during a gaming conference. The Dreams are Reality age is here!

Why would you assume shenmue 3 would only be 1 chapter?
Shenmue II is so awesome, I wish I could play that game again with fresh eyes. I've always maintained that, while Shenmue I was a much more crafted experience (it felt like a p&p RPG with an actual dungeon master creating the entire world in front of you), shenmue II was a much better game. Shenmue II was basically a Jackie Chan movie.
The bits with Ren of Heaven are probably my favorite parts of that game.
haha i love my SDF bros
$29 tier gives you a digital copy to play.
