Drinking another beer in celebration!

I assume they're going to digitally release the previous two games since a huge proportion of gamers were probably still crapping in a nappy when they were originally released.

It will be interesting to see what is made of them today outside of nostalgia since from what little I remember of the first game was extremely limited and boring. I remember running around a small village with nothing to do but play with gashapon toy machines and get back home before dark because everything was closed.

Am I reading this right, do the pledge rewards stack, I hope I didn't just pay $175 just for an art book. <_<

As I understand this gets me.

Copy of the game for either PC or PS4.
MP3 soundtrack.
Digital artbook.
Printed artbook.
Shenmue 3 T-Shirt.

2 million? Didn't the previous ones cost like 50 to make?

There was a good twitter post earlier explaining how kickstarter funds work in such a way that when the $2 million is reached it will trigger the full investment from much larger backers, in this case Sony and possibly SEGA.

I'm in for $310 on this one which is pretty wild but for me this is the quintessential Kickstarter. In the past I've often thought about how much I would/could give to a Shenmue KS if it ever happened and now it's here! I'm glad that the next month when the payment is due will be light on new game releases so the budget allows for this.

I'll go with a $29 pledge later this week.

I actually don't have any interest in Shenmue, but what I know from it makes me appreciate it and the work that was put into it which is why I'm going to back this.

Can I ask a stupid question? When Kickstarter takes your money, when the game is founded, or when the 31 days time limit expires?
Also if I pledge an amount, can I increase it after the 31 days limit is over?

It takes the money at the end of the period I believe. No, you can't increase after the Kickstarter ends.

Even though I'm really happy, I'm kinda disappointed for now. Sure, 1,7M in 7 hours is great but... come on, it's Shenmue 3. It's like a dream coming true. The game should have a lot more than 20k backers for now considering the hype and the noise.

For now, it just shows to me that we really were a vocal minority. :o

Brofist 310 club. My first kickstarter.

The Kickstarter is going to hit $2 Million in almost 14 hours let alone 24 hours. Tried telling y'all, don't know why it took so long.

Only questions I have are:

1.) Shenmue HD Collection on PSN/Steam when and how/if the gameplay be different?

2.) Why Sony over Microsoft when Microsoft originally published Shenmue 2.

I could care less about which console Shenmue 3 was announced for but I'd certainly like to hear the story of how Sony and Yu Suzuki came together. Especially since during the conference the announcer said "and now a game all Playstation gamers have been clamoring for" or something to that effect.

Almost positive your funds are collected when the kickstarter ends, so when the 31 days is up. As far as increasing your amount after that? I have no idea.

It actually depends - i've backed kickstarters that had extra options you could add after the kickstarter if you pledged a certain level, but I don't expect this for a project like this.

It's amazing that the average pledge has stayed constant at around $84 the entire time. You would think the average would start high and gradually fall.

Kickstarter description is terrible. Basically all they said is 'give us money or Shenmue wont be happen'.
Where are other money comes from? Some from Sony that certain, but other? Because no way in hell this will cost less than about $12-15m

So I just checked my backer number.
#268
Also, if my counting is correct, Yu has to sign 1,659 autographs and we haven't even started. The European legions are coming.

Did my duty as a dedicated fan of the series, $175.
I told you to believe. I never would lie to my brethen.

Also wondering if I should upgrade from 300 to 500. I want the fucking figures so bad.
DO IT!

Someone pointed out to me that there's a nip slip in that GT reaction video. I don't think a single person besides him noticed that over Shenmue reaction. lol

Fastest ever to reach 1M, vocal minority.

The moment it is funded/campaign ends it takes your money, no you can't increase your amount via KS after the campaign ends. Sometimes a campaign will allow you to add on via paypal if you wan't to upgrade after the campaign ends, but that's all up to the creator.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to the creators but I wish YS went with a better firm to handle this Kickstarter.
Frankly it all looks VERY, VERY amateurish and barebones, the tiers are imo wrongly composed and in general it all seems like a lot of wasted of potential, especially compared to the latest high-profile kickstarters.

It's a shame - should gone with someone who can put together a decent campaign (whoever did IGA's one did a pretty fantastic job). I wouldn't have thought after all this time and a reveal at Sony's E3 conference they'd half-ass it so badly. They'll easily make target, but with better rewards and stretch goals they could go a lot higher.

Oh shit, those ebay prices are gonna skyrocket.

good call - those of you remotely interested in Shenmue 2, the best version is importing the PAL DC one, which plays on US systems with no issue and will surely continue to rise after this. of course, it's entirely possibly (likely?) Sega will finally do the HD ports with the success being seen here.

do bear in mind that its late as hell over here, parts of the world havnet quite woken up yet, and this thing literally crashed kickstarter. i had to wait and be backer # 1,200 something, you have no idea how much that sucked, haha

Should be the same except with higher resolutions, 16:9 support and better anti-aliasing and texture filtering and if they're clever, implement the time skip feature from Shenmue II into the first game.

There's no DLC or anything to be integrated to it's actually very straightforward for an HD remaster,

Isn't the OG Xbox version playable at 720p?

sitting here, regretting that I can only afford the 29$ version and not the 100$ >.<.

But I'm happy nevertheless! I hope it will be as good as I imagine.

They need to add more tiers over $1,000. These people are eating them up hardcore.

Pledge $50,000
