In an industry that churns out a lot of the same ole same ole, we have people complaining about mechanized dinosaurs. That gameplay reveal looked great, and showed stealth, hunting and strategy. The weak points weren't so obvious and it seems there will be specific ways to take down each machine. The fact that its an open world RPG with:

-day/night cycle
-weather systems
-Monster Hunter gameplay aspects
-Writer of Fallout NV
-stealth
-Witcher devs
-Enslaved/ Dark Earth/Turok vibe
-female protagonist
-tribes and factions (which leads me to believe there will be human vs human combat)

is a breath of fresh air. Color me impressed.

It's funny, from the little they have shown, combat looks already 10 times more interesting than The Witcher 3 to me and I was hyped for that game like a madmen a couple weeks ago lol.

It seems they're defunct by now.

Their game was still in development december 2012, but they had a full comic book
which outlined the story premise of their game. Especially the intro with fallen decrepit city scapes and tribes living in wildlife, seems almost 100% identical.

Basically, you'd have these clans of adolescent tribes ( since no human would reach adult age ) and along the player's quest, you'd slowly find your way to the last surviving 'modern age' man - so the goal was to give humanity its full life span back.

Well Dark Earth had a similar premise as that was well. So its certainly not the first. No idea is original

People need to stop saying this. Again, they got New Vegas' writer to pen the plot for this game along with some of Witcher 3's scenario writers. I wouldn't worry about plot for this game with the talent they were able to get.

Oh yeah forgot about that. Gives the title even greater prospects.

Has there ever been a Sony first-party WRPG before? I find the idea very exciting.

So basically the setting is kind of a second 'prehistoric' age? There were cities and civilizations, but after a big fallout humanity got back to hunting/gathering, but the machines from the earlier period are still around. That pretty much it? I love this concept.

Only other thing impressive was Uncharted.

We still havent seen Nintendo's hand, but I'd def say MS won the show

Despite my excitement with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake announcement, this was by far the most appealing thing to me at the conference. It was so beautiful, it looked fun, and I want to try it as soon as possible. I'm truly excited for this game.

I agree, mostly because we actually got to see gameplay, and it looks rad.

Uncharted 4 was cool too, but let's be honest, it was just more Uncharted with the same cinematic gameplay that would get old if you failed a segment once.

Honestly, that's the moment that makes the entire trailer for me. To us these are giant badass robot dinosaurs, but to Aloy and her people the machines are simply the creatures they share the world with. Such a brilliant detail that speaks volumes about how GG is approaching the premise. I am ridiculously excited for this game.

Similar in the sense that its an open world rpg and perhaps some of the mechanics are similarm you could say that about any open world rpg. We need more details before any parallels can be drawn

The talking was for show, you know since it was being shown on stage and streamed across the interwebs for millions of people. If you saw that trailer for the first time would you have known, without the talking, what was going on outside of a red haired woman killing robo dinos? Would you have known that she felt bad for killing the first dino and that she was out hunting others for their green goo?

Combat is one of the things we will see improve greatly this gen. We are starting to see this: Horizon, For Honor, From soft. games...
It was high time the main gameplay feature was settled in the first place, where it belonged.

I personally just wished for regular Dino's. Mech Dino's kinda lost it for me.

To me the mech concept does not match the setting. Will be keeping an eye on.
