Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I'm honestly at the point where I'm stunned leaders of that company haven't lost their jobs with how poorly planned this entire thing has been.

Love the gaming communities reaction. "Fuck that shit you're releasing this year Nintendo. Give us big announcements even if they're not coming until late 2016-2017 because I'd rather be hyped for those then play these games you're releasing this year". Amazing how no one cares about xenoblade chronicles x, yoshi yarn story, mario maker because "weve already seen this".

to be fair, aside from release windows, the time spent on Xenoblade, FE If, and Yarn Yoshi felt like a waste because it's shit we all know already. Xenoblade's out in Japan. FE IF's out in 8 days. Yarn Yoshi's out next month.

Good conference overall, probably my favourite actually surprisingly!

- Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam looked like a fun romp. Looking forward to seeing more of that!
- Zelda: Triforce Heroes looked brilliant, nice to have a game that expands on Zelda: LBW
- Starfox Zero struck a nice balance of traditional looking gameplay and new stuff. Excited.
- More Yoshi's Wooly World! Great snippets of gameplay, looking forward to getting it on the 26th!
- Dual Amiibo/skylander figures was interesting. Wonder if Activision will get more involved in amiibo distribution!
- Hyped as fuck for Yokai watch, nice to get a release date for other regions.
- Super Mario Maker shot up my list. Now I've seen more content, I'm genuinely looking forward to it.
- Xenoblade Chronicles X release date. December is so far away!
- Mario motherfucking tennis on Wii U. Best tennis games out there, can't wait!

Just a really nice mix of showing off more of games we already know about, and showing new and interesting games! The volume of exclusive stuff was much more satisfying than the previous conferences. Love how Nintendo actually chats about each game a little too. As opposed to spewing PR dreck, and showing CG trailer after CG trailer.

Top notch!

It wasn't very good but it wasn't that bad. That's all I'm saying. It was pretty disappointing but I'm interested in some of the things they showed. Plus Star Fox is looking gooood.
How was it not bad? :/
The problem is that there might not be fans left. I am not buying the NX.

Thier game appeal to me for they are not releasing them.
I am not buying it either, unless the NX happens to be the handheld as well. I never miss on Nintendo handhelds.

It wasn't bad. I liked seeing a few games that I was interested in, but nothing was really "new" other than footage of Super Mario Maker. I was hoping for another Mario game to celebrate the 30th Anniversary, but I suppose not. Release date for Xenoblade is good. Yarn Yoshi is something my wife and I (mostly my wife) will enjoy in co-op. StarFox looks okay but I'm guessing it's early footage.

Overall, it was an okay show. Microsoft and especially Sony really brought a lot of heat this year, which I think makes Nintendo's announcements feel less impactful.

When do they usually announce their roundtable when having one?

Don't even know if we are getting one this year

Zelda U better come out on Wii U. Or the NX better bebackwards compatible.

We are probably looking at a Twilight Princess scenario all over again. I think NX will no doubt be backwards compatible as well. It's why I went ahead and sold my Wii U, because as neat as the system is, it's pretty much over.

There was some cool stuff in here, but we already knew about most of it, and there were no 'wow' moments.

Really underwhelming.

The entire thing felt like it was aimed at children. Nothing but kiddy games. Children aren't the people who watch e3. The more mature games like Devil's Third and Fatal Frame didn't even get a mention.

I'd say the event was "underwhelming" in one word. I mean, a lot of people were expecting megaton after megaton from Nintendo after Sony's press conference, which wasn't a fair expectation to go into. This seemed like typical Nintendo when all they can really show are games that are coming out within the year, not games coming out who knows when (Zelda U, for example.)

I'm interested to see how people react to the announcements.
  • Metroid people technically got a Metroid game, but it's probably not something they wanted.
  • Zelda people got a Zelda game, but they'll be upset that it's not Zelda U.
  • Paper Mario fans didn't get a full on Paper Mario game, but they did get some Paper Mario that will probably turn out better than Sticker Stars.
  • Mario sports fans didn't get Strikers, but they did get Mario Tennis.
  • Animal Crossing fans are getting something on the Wii U, but it's definitely not what they probably thought they were getting.

I guess every year can't be like last year for Nintendo, but really not a bad year. Nintendo went the route of "let's show games coming out Spring 2016 or before" while people will compare it to Sony's "let's drop megatons that really aren't coming out this year". I appreciate Nintendo focusing on games coming out soon, whether the hype is there or not.

I also enjoyed the Muppet scenes. I can't wait to see all the new gifs.

This has easily been the worst conference of the big 3's. I wish they would wrap up this starfox gameplay and have Shigi show the last thing(I hope its a real donkey kong). I really felt like they said F it and are putting energy towards the NX.

And now that Fatal Frame actually exists and is coming in the fall, I piss at NoA once again. Should have freaking push Yarn Yoshi for a summer release when they don't seem to have nothing for that time.

I mean there are games in there that I'm excited for and I finally got my release date for Xenoblade X but it was overall pretty disappointing, especially on the Wii U front. I feel like development is shifting from Wii U to NX now and I won't be surprised if Zelda is for NX as well a la twilight princess or maybe even NX exclusive.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Nintendo knows that the Wii U is their Saturn. They want to reboot as quickly as possible. If they do it fast they can still have a system that is similar in power to the PS4/Xbox One.

They need a new system but they need to do it right.

Hardware wise- enough to get ports
Third party support (ability to get easy ports from mobile)
Full fledged online features from the start
Unified account across all hardware
BC and content transfer from WiiU and 3DS to this new unified account (remember the complaints about the Wii VC transfer? imagine now with DLC and digital retail titles if your content doesnt transfer)
Integrated Amiibo functionality
Integration with mobile (apps, etc)
Keep cost down. No Pad that makes the console expensive for no reason.

Basically the opposite of what the WiiU was.
seems obvious enough, but Nintendo have messed up 3 launches when it comes to services.

But children don't care about all the developer stories and talking.

I don't know who this was aimed at.

Wow you guys are making me feel guilty for being satisfied.

Starfox, Zelda, fire emblem, Mario maker, yoshi, Mario rpg, xenoblade.

Did we watch the same conference...?

Over half of those titles were already announced. If you really want to be blown away, I can show you a highlight reel of Super Nintendo games.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

This is extremely harsh reception at Japanese stream for any type of conference, really :(

And rightfully so.

Though it changes nothing for Nintendo in Japan, the 3DS software line-up is amazing.

Wii U is dead.

I was actually one of the people that loved the idea of a Metroid game where you played as G.F. troops, but what that was looked rubbish.

The lack of new stuff makes perfect sense. They fucked up by having a huge lack of games for the WiiU release, so they are doubling down to have plenty of games ready for the NX launch.

A localization announcement of Dragon Quest VII 3D or Bravely Second would have saved this presentation for me. Barely.

But we didn't even get that. I'm glad I didn't hype myself up beforehand.

Wii U is likely the last Nintendo home console I will ever buy, so I wanted it to go out with a bang, with continued support until 2016 at least. Doesn't look like that's going to happen anymore. Zelda U will be the last whimper from my dusty Wii U next year.
