Interviews and press for sure. I mean the man is at E3. They're doing great there. There have been 4 updates in 2 days and interviews and press elsewhere.
This is NeoGAF - I don't beat games, just talk about them.
I'll research these 'Ubisoft Credits' you speak of.
You see Ubisofts current approach to credits seems to be to mention everyone whos ever worked at the company along with everyone theyve ever met. Theyre so long - over 22 fricking minutes long! - I began to wonder if I just hadnt noticed they were looping. Theyre so long, when Matt completed the game, he managed to make some bread and return to the TV before theyd ended. And I'm just talking credits here, not the end sequence too.
Yeah it has slowed down a ton, it doesn't seem like it will hit the bigger stretch goals.Man the stupid rampant negativity surrounding this has seriously slowed down this thing. At this rate it does seem like NeoGAF is mainly responsible for this turn of events.
i mean, it's par for the course for kickstarters, but the slowing down is a bit sad knowing there are many, many more stretch goals still ahead.Man the stupid rampant negativity surrounding this has seriously slowed down this thing. The Kickstarter page has been updated with new FAQ questions. Have these been posted here yet?
That last answer doesn't tell us anything.
Same, that's how my generation learned english !
Moor-Angol...!
of course, name sounds familiar. ICC by any chance ?
Exactly.
Not quite sure what a "Character Perspective System" is without speculating. Hopefully we get a new update with details or something.
They should put a goal for a playable version of the "boat chapter".
If there is WiiU or Mac or PS3 version, I am in. Otherwise, no thanks.
Siliconera have a recap of a Famitsu article with Yu about Shenmue 3

I have no idea what kind of game this is supposed to be,
.
why would you hope for that?
Seemingly not even gonna hit 100k today, so yeah, seems grim for the kickstarter's growth potential.
3. The game isn't that attractive to the rest without ports of Shenmue 1 / 2
I think this kickstarter campaign is terribly done. I have no idea what kind of game this is supposed to be, what sort of mechanics are to be implemented, no concept demo's of the said mechanics, an explanation of the stretch goals.
It's like they're only looking for money from people who are fans of the series. I can't back something I have no idea about. I expected a much more comprehensive pitch from someone who used to be the director of VF.

BloodStained was the first Kickstarter I backed and it was exhilarating to follow. Sometimes I would get 2 updates in the same day because we would meet a stretch goal and then a funding milestone or something. I really felt like I was part of something there.
Shenmue needs to follow that example. Seriously, they should have had an email prepared and ready to send the moment they broke 1 million, then another one when we passed 2 million. Then more updates and more reward tiers added, along with more stretch goals that arrived with information on what these are exactly.
Its like the KS crew set this thing up and then went Out Of Office for a day, not realizing we'd raise 3 mil in a little over a day.

Yes it does? It's going to be used to pay for rewards and go towards game development. :|

Yep. I think I am going to take a break from this place for a while. GAF allows this type of negativity and propaganda to spread and prosper and I am just sick of it.
I agree with you, and i'm a big fan of the Shenmue games. I've been thinking about the same...Why should people who have no knowledge of the Shenmue series back this? Sure, the record setting $2mill was most likely from people like me..hardcore fans.
You could always get info from youtube videoes etc, but let's face it, not many people are gonna do that.
And, considering that the orignal Shenmue cost about $50mill, one has to start to think about the scale and quality this third installment will be...even with Sony's backing.
If ever there was a time for a HD Collection to be announced, it's now. It's so frustrating that we're going through all this revitalised Shenmue attention and there's no simple means for the noobs out there to introduce themselves to the series.

Sick of people caring? What propaganda are you talking about? Fact: Most people wont just drop their money due to positive spirit.

Sick about being a forum for toxic clickbait websites like polygon and obvious trolls who never cared about the game and are just being negative for the sake of being negative. Shenmue fans had to take a lot over the years and now that the game is finally "real", it disgusts me that people are still trying to ruin it for us.
I do agree that the kickstarter is not well managed, this needs to be discussed and addressed. Different topic though.
Dude I know you posted in the Bloodstained KS thread. Are you still unclear how kickstarters work? LOL if you think GAF has anything to do with the slowdown
I loved shenmue as a kid in high school. A living, breathing world finally realized. I loved the ominous music. The NPCs having schedules. I loved being lost, and couldn't figure out a way to solve puzzles, always going back to ryo's hone, searching the drawers, clock, etc.
then I played shenmue 2. Something about the game didn't click with me. I don't know if it was me getting older, or not having the patience to complete the game due to how bigger it got.
Also it's not recapped in the article, but the original blog mentions a forklift and it translates to:
"I want put a mini game of forklift, I am thinking much that it might be put somehow deep in the mountains of Guilin."
A forklift mini game deep in the Guilin mountains?! Hope that translation is right.
Ehhh might be a nice, albeit extremely forced, reference but I don't want forklifts becoming a staple of the series.
They made sense as a job in 1 as you lived next to a harbor, but I want them left there.
(racing was fun though!)
Sure, I am doing the same thing but I still think the organizers of the campaign need to step their game up.what if they were dropping their money on the conclusion of a beloved series with seemingly all the original creators on board though
Ok, I've not experienced that myself, but then I have also not been participating in the discussions on gaf for that long. But then we are on the same level on that the campaign need to improve.Sick about being a forum for toxic clickbait websites like polygon and obvious trolls who never cared about the game and are just being negative for the sake of being negative. Hello Everyone!
Thank you everyone for all of your wonderful comments! Hearing everyone's stories and seeing everyone's reactions is what this all about. Shenmue means so much to so many people and we hope everyone keeps spreading the love.
There is lots of Shenmue 3 Kickstarter left and a long way to go to. So, let’s start revealing those Stretch Goals!
There are plenty more where that came from and new ones will be revealed as we keep climbing. The next Stretch Goals on the list will add new systems to Shenmue 3 that will give a huge boost to the gameplay. The Rapport System will add a depth of story, interactivity and character development that only Yu Suzuki can bring. The Skill Tree System will give Ryo a new way to level up and specialize his fighting move set.
Next up is the Baisha Village expansion goals—spend more time exploring Baisha, with extra mini-games, interactive events and a new character system. The Character Perspective System will really let you explore the world of Shenmue through the different character personalities.
Those blaming Gaf for the slowdown are giving Gaf wayyyyy too much credit.
Slowdown like this is normal for the majority of kickstarters is it not?

Pleased to see that it's getting a skill tree system and I do like the sound of the other stretch goals too. The only issue that I have with this is that whatever they announce as stretch goals, I'm still going to want more.
A lot of Shenmue's events were about being at the right place at the right time, and seeing it from Ryo's perspective. I assume that they can add the "perspective" of other characters?Still not sure what the Character Perspective System strictly is. Sounds like you'll be able to play as different characters maybe? Hard to say.
Really glad to see them address and update us on the new goals though! Still need more tiers.
Has this been posted at all? https://noobdigest.squarespace.com/
Just spotted it on reddit and it's a really great read (especially if you'd never played Shenmue before).
Considering how much it grossed at first, it's slowing down at a much bigger rate than other "big" KS, as far as I can tell.
What if Ryo has a dream that he's back in Yokosuka, racing forklifts? Then we not only could get forklifts, but an Unreal Engine 4'd up version of the harbour.
I think it's too early to say if it's slowing down faster or if it's just settling after being artificially spiked by being launched during Sony's E3 conference. As I said Shenmue 3's day 3 total, although a bigger drop from its day 2 total, is actually higher than Bloodstained's day 2 total.
As it stands Shenmue after 3 days has more funding than Bloodstained did after 21 days. So I think we'll just have to see how the drops are over the next few days to really tell if it being more frontloaded is going to be damaging to it's overall projections in the long run.
