[IGN] 40 minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain demo 1080p60 - 6/18 at 5 AM PST

Had tons of fun watching this with a lot of my coworkers. Everyone is super impressed by the game. Sept 1st can't come soon enough.

2. Kojima said that players who own GZ will be able to visit Camp Omega again and carry out several tasks there, but he didn't go into detail. He did say that there would be a cool feature that hadn't been done in games before. Sounds interesting!

Also... Soldiers, POWs, and VIPs you extract in Ground Zeroes will carry over into The Phantom Pain as a part of your army, so that's pretty sweet!
I wonder if that one scene from the phantom pain trailer where that pow was being waterboarded and then shot in the back at camp omega is a mission in this.
 
I love how you can play as other characters. I'm totally going to do the side quest with the other guys and save boss for the main harder missions.
 
Fair enough. I've noticed frame rate drips occasionally (probably once every 20 hours) and, if I'm honest, my momentum with the game has slowed down significantly since I hit level 20. Once the difficulty curve drops off and fights start to get easier I can imagine it will fall foul of repetition. Hopefully the main quest will keep me entertained. It feels less and less meaningful doing sidequests, too, because I get no xp from earlier ones. I'm tempted to start a new save on Death March and try to do every sidequest.

Indeed, I've got a gut feel that MGSV may beat out The Witcher 3. I think the depth of gameplay on the scale Kojima has designed will be unprecedented. And the Fox Engine seems so robust that it's going to be polished like shit.

I understood what you meant to say on your last comment, but polished shit doesn't sound very robust ;)

I really like the Witcher 3, though. And if the performance of GZ is any indication, not having performance dips or control issues get in the way is just going to increase the awesomeness.

I'm so excited for this that instead of my nightly Witcher 3 session tonight, I'm totally diving back into Ground Zeroes for some Metal Gear Goodness.

I have the MGS Collection on PS3 still, but some financial trouble earlier in the year led to me having to sell my PS3 :-( Was hoping those ones would hit PS Now sometime soon because I really want to play through the BB story before MGS5 hits. Busy time of year, though, so that may not be an option even if I had the platform that can run it lol
 
Amazing, cant believe MGSV and MGS4 are both PS3 games! What a huge leap in gameplay designs, if i thought MGS2 -> MGS3 was big, this is WTF Jackie Chan territory!

It's just a shame that there is no Fulton in GZ. Without it extracting people out is a chore.
 
I bought Ground Zeroes Day One for PS4 but I didn't redeem the code that came with it because you couldn't around that time. Is it now possible to redeem the code or do we have to wait until the game releases?
 
We got a redeem code with GZ and also I think the prisoners we saved in GZ will be carried over. I imagine the only way the game will know is by your achievements. I don't think there's any dedicated 'import save' option.

There definitely is an import save option. It's at the start of this new E3 demo.

TPP release is when these codes will work, I really hope someone at Konami didn't set the redeem code expiry date too short and these all still work !
 
incredibel, but whats to stop you from doing an entire mission with d-walker? jesus that thing tore through everyone on the escape!
 
That Fox Engine man. KojiPro has some of the best programmers for sure. The other demos had some of the best looking jungle, and it's 60fps open world! I wonder what happens to the tech if Konami is backing away from AAA development.

I had no clue this would be the least HJ Metal Gear though...that collector's edition will be worth a TON someday.

they said soon. i can wait. hopefully they are considering a beta.
 
It still seems to be like you have almost infinite fultons, you have tons of money and you can fulton pretty much infinitely.

1. They've confirmed verbally that Fultons will be fairly limited. This probably is 'E3 presentation mode'
2. In earlier demonstrations, Fultoning had a fairly high money value attached to it. You were free to do it as much as you wanted, but you'd eat substantially into your mission revenue doing so.
3. TPP has a huge structural/design overlap with Peace Walker, and in PW, Fultoning was really limited until you upgraded it a lot. Like 4-5 times per mission to begin with (which was never enough).

MGS6.

They already started hring people for it.

Man that demo is a huge bummer. All my fears from the previews have been pretty much confirmed.

The game looks like it's really well made but the actual game look super repetitive and instead of having a proper campaign experience like in previous MGS games you just get another generic open world sandbox game with hundreds of boring and generic missions to do.

It basically look like if it was an Ubisoft take on the MGS stealth gameplay.


I'm getting so tired of all those open world games we're getting almost every month nowadays.


Also fuck Keifer, was not worth it to get him over Heyter if that means he only has like 15lines in the game. Sounds like some kind of ego trip from Kojima or something
