[IGN] 40 minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain demo 1080p60 - 6/18 at 5 AM PST

IIRC, some of your Peace Walker staff survives into TPP, right? I remember reading that not too long ago. If so...

KILLIFISH will be wrecking fools!

He was better than Snake, completely maxed in all skills.

Someone who writes for a website called "Metal Gear Informer" does not strike me as someone who may be immune to over-excitement :P

You should actually read the link i posted, he is just quoting someone who played the game, the MGI guy didn't played it yet.

Whether this game does or doesn't devolve into regular-ass fetch-quests we've seen time and time again in other open world games remains to be seen. But the game mechanics shown so far are fucking ace.

There's just one more thing I'm worried about, which is boss fights. Wouldn't mind looking at one. For fuck's sake, I hope it's not the utter crap we saw in PW.

Personally, I think that was DD and then they changed his breed/appearance later in development.

I mean, the dog from the old build looks identical to the Diamond Dog's emblem and we know he was supposed to be a companion of Big Boss from the artwork but it is the wolf that is given the "Diamond Dog" namesake? Seems too similar and redundant to me.

I noticed that too. Also, people reported finding DD in different locations than just Africa, as shown in that gameplay video. Maybe that means... different breeds available to find? Let me dream.
Gotta Catch 'em All

Wait this game has pay 2 win microtransactions?

FUUUUUUCKKKKKKKK

well I guess that means I can play other games.

No, it doesn't. It has pay to build things faster microtransactions, and they have gone on record saying that nothing is hidden behind microtransactions either.

Or you can spend the free time learning how to be a bit more grown up dude. Refusing to play a game just for that reason is single-minded and ridiculous.

I need a Big Boss version of the "shut up and take my money" meme. I want the best Mother Base in all the land.

Presentation could've been better. The part with the mech vs the armored was painful.

He was playing like that to show off game mechanics , if he went all super stealth and the Mech didn't 'die' we wouldn't get to see how to game handles that.

Did he say the prisoner had a high botanist skill?

YES , the prisoner is a Botanist . In fact if you watch earlier in the demo he mentions DD can sniff out plants.

That's the same thing. Asking people to pay more to get less play time is an absolutely repugnant design decision.

Yes I should grow up and accept rackets as a good thing. Kindly stick it where the sun don't shine.

I might still get this, but it's way beyond defensible.

I too am not big on the non-stop open world
games nowadays- but this is Metal Gear we're talking about - this has to be fuken good no matter if its open world or not.
Ive waited too long for this and it being the last MGS By Kojima - Im playing the chit out of it

I still think this practice isn't as horrid as Arkham Knight's DLC practice.

Jesus christ trying to track down which place has the best Pre Order DLC for that game is a nightmare.

The only defense is if the game balance isn't affected by it. If it's like DAI where you have to wait for an unreasonable amount of time for stuff then yes it's indefensible.

Love how the music tracks can be used as helicopter entrance music. I'm going to be obsessed with collecting all of those.

Research is instant , You can't unlock Blueprints and other stuff by paying , I think its just GMP resources.

Since you get GMP by doing missions and everything you do from calling in Choppers to supplies cost GMP.

One of the best small touches ever.

It's always affected by it. They're there for a reason.

This is super disappointing.

Rackets? Like an extortion racket? You feel like you're being extorted by a computer game? Do you ever feel like you're a bit too emotional about these things?

Ahhh, strong principles at work there buddy. Perhaps we could both do with a solar system up our orifice.

No, it's not repugnant. I don't have all day to play these incredibly expansive games, if I want to pay to see things I'd otherwise miss due to time constraints I should be able to do that. If doesn't effect your life at all, you still have all the time in the world, and are seemingly willing to utilize that time on this piece of entertainment so go do that.

This isn't pay to get a better gun for multiplayer and have a competitive advantage.

Also, what is going on with TPP? Are they just being super hush hush about the narrative or does it kind of not exist in traditional MGS form?

Giving us Ground Zeroes early was brilliant. We all know how TPP plays. We're just getting to see the depth now, and I can say that I will spend an obscene amount of time playing MGSV:TPP.
Can't wait.

Am i the only one that is bothered by the mission design? it seems like in all of the presentation they did the objectives were always simplistic, "rescue him", "eliminate him", "retrieve the document" and such, objectives were always pretty basic, i want some cool scenarios like in previous MGS :/

Both , Kojima is being very hush about it and what the press can say . Also he plans to do it differently not relying on Cutscenes as much.

This is SIDE Ops stuff.

I don't think we know of any Main Ops besides , go Rescue Kaz.

I hope they have the song "I ran" by Flock of Seagulls, so I can play that while snake is running through the desert.

If you don't have all day to play these expansive games, you should be able to skip past the difficult parts, put it on super easy or enter a cheat code or something, why the hell would you be okay with paying to see content you already bought in the first place? Sorry I think that's beyond crazy. You buy a ticket for a rollercoaster ride, then find out you don't have the time to do it, but hey you can pay extra to skip it, wtfff.
I'm thinking you're speaking for me and are not the person getting nickle and dimed here

(or you're an actual whale, in which case gg Konami)

Unless the journalists were playing a modified version of the game that was balanced around no microtransactions, I think it should be okay. No one complained about how long it took to build things during that press event.

There are multiple objectives in the rescue Kaz mission which include finding intel.

I don't know why I feel the need to remind people this is the same guy who didn't tell anyone we were playing as Raiden in MGS 2.

You think he's going to try to spoil anything big?

Research is Instant , its the GMP that consumes time to get.

Can't believe there are still people who doubt this game. That last trailer showed off like 50+ scenarios where there will be cutscenes. Why would anyone doubt the story focus of the game? Why would anyone doubt Kojima? Why???

The opening/closing cutscenes in Ground Zeroes proved this is will be a great Metal Gear game that is rich in everything.

Some really have a hard time accepting the fact that this is an open world game. Its not a linear 8 hour corridor game anymore. Just let it go and move on.

This is shaping up to be an all time great. Crow is gonna be served. People will be ashamed of their words.

That's called speedpass. They have that in real life. Its for people that have more money than patience/time.
How does this affect you?

Unity's balance wasn't affected by micro transactions.

Well the entire plot of Ground Zeroes was in the trailers so... Kojimas certainly not immune to spoiling things.

Still miss Hayter ;-;

Big Boss has fewer lines so you won't miss him as much.

Come on , Ground Zeroes was not really some kind of Major suprise , we all knew that Big Boss would go into a coma way before Ground Zeroes.

Its the Equivalent of the Virtuous Mission in MGS 3. We all know its not going to go smoothly since the Game is Called Snake Eater.
