Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

I'm in the UK and I'm on the preview program so I have some of my XBLA games on my X1, but was gonna go and pick up a cheap Mass Effect. Am I right in thinking that disc support is US only at the moment so there's no point me grabbing it yet?

is there some trick to get Geo Wars to show up? I own it and when I go to the website it says already purchased but it doesn't show as ready to install and when I do that friend trick it shows as "bundle only".

My UK Mass Effect, Kameo, VPinata and PDZ all work fine. I think... VP/ME certainly

ME is region free so I think it works

Only 2 PAL discs currently work - Mass Effect and Viva Pinata (can't remember which one). I got a cheap copy of ME earlier and its downloading the install file.

Edit: beaten, seems more discs work too

Some games just don't work right now unless you're in the preview program.

Just tried PDZ and GeoWars2 this morning. I'm very impressed by the quality of the emulation.

I wonder though if the BC games will be "exclusive" to games already on the Xbox Store. For example, Red Dead Redemption is available to buy but Nier is not so I wonder...

However, I have read that Lost Odyssey is on the wanted list and isn't available on the store.

seeing 360 games on your xbox one games list, awwesome. I really hope they add OG xbox games too. I already want to rebuy certain 360 games

Agreed! it was like fucking Christmas when the press conference was over and I checked my XB1. Install, Install, Install, Installl....

Just got in the preview and played some hexic HD. Worked perfecly.

Gonna get mass effect this afternoon.

I want to play some of the rare games but I don't want to buy them since I'm getting Rare Replay in a few weeks....

Do you own the digital version?

I checked mass effect on xbox.com and it says to buy it, but I swear I paid a fiver for it a few years back, gah.

Also now I know why geowars was saying bundle only too, it was bought on an old account I had before microsoft messed it up with it's stupid non-removing credit cards policy they had back at 360 launch, i'm on another account I made from 2008 now.

*edit* playing N+, how long does it take to pull your xbox 360 info for the first time?

Maybe you changed your xbox account and gamertag. :(

Personally I've the limited edition of Perfect Dark Zero and the game isn't supported, is it normal? (sorry I haven't read all the pages of the thread :))

Some advice would be much appreciated. I'd like to play the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time but I only have a PC and a Wii U. I'm planning on buying an Xbox One though and would ideally prefer to play it there (because of controller support and runs better than on 360). A few questions...

- Any guesses when this service will roll out and how quickly we can expect ME2 and ME3?

- Will DLC be compatible in backwards compatibility mode?

- Will we be able to transfer saves between the games?

Thanks all

Well... nier is on the voting page so that's a good sign

Super Meat Boy runs perfectly fine, really good.

N+ has frame rate issues, the original game was never this choppy on a real 360, the xbone version has stutter.

Don't forget to give feedback on how the game runs via the Xbox Preview Dashboard app, on the quests section each game can be individually left feedback.

I went to Gamestop yesterday to pick up Halo Wars and the employees where talking to the other customers about it. They seemed excited.

For the games like lost odyssey which will be bc, is it better for me to find the game for cheap or wait for the xbl online store to upload it later this year?

I'd say look for it now.

Microsoft should include a digital download available in the store for every game they put up. There are tons of games from last gen I want to play but don't want to track down copies of. Lost Odyssey, RDR, Blue Dragon, Vanquish, etc. I'm OK with paying a little bit more for the convenience that comes with digital copy.

Hard to tell. It seems, going digital will be more future-proof, in regards to upcoming console- and gaming systems. That MS added disc-compatibilty for the x360 emulation is not self-evident, i think. But eventually I'm all alone with that opinion 😊

I've had frame rate issues with N+ and A Kingdom of Keflings. A World of Keflings is a little better but still has issues. N+ is unplayable co-op online though. Just stutters endlessly :(

I just realized that this is the first generation where the last-gen consoles had digital content. Wouldn't that alone make all the 'BC doesn't matter' or previous BC stats virtually irrelevant? Being able to play all your old digital games makes consoles a bit more competitive with PCs

Yes, but that won't stop people from telling you otherwise.
