Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

I mean, at least Van Ord was honest. I'd much prefer reviewers use the entire scale and actually grade the game honestly instead of giving everything a score in the range of 8-10.

7/10 is still pretty good.

Doesn't change the fact that it's slightly out of place. He didn't say they gave it a bad score, just that it seems low. When the Metacritic score is over a 90 and you give it a 7, its pretty obvious your score is the outlier. Not that it's a bad it just seems like he couldn't get past the batmobile, which truth be told is my biggest concern with the game.

It's unlocking at 10am PT worldwide at present. No region is getting the game sooner. If, however, WB has asked Valve to set region-specific unlock times, then that should be done some time today.

Ah ok, thanks. I was hearing what I wanted to hear and ignored "PT" in that 10am time. :P

I got one key for the Season Pass and when I redeemed the other it said it was for the Harley DLC but t was like 34 gigs so I'm assuming it's the full game. :P
I came to ask about this as well. First 15 keys wouldn't redeem without entering the last 15 keys sent over by GMG. Once I activated both were listed as Harley DLC, 33.7 GB here.
Has this happened to anyone else?

You're not the only one, don't feel bad.

Got the game free with my 970, so I used the $30 I originally used to pre-order from Nuuvem to get it.
i got 2 copies with my cards, one i activated, the other i sold for 30, with that money i got the SP on steam, still, we shouldn't have, what we did is wrong :(

Steam/retail pre-order keys automatically grants you Harley Quinn DLC. Season Pass is another thing. If you don't pre-order you do get Harley Quinn and Red Hood DLCs as part of the Season Pass later.

I redeemed my Premium edition AK from cdkeys, so i got only one key. Does the season pass dlc just appear later then once released?

Sigh. Season Passes are here to stay, then. First Preorders, then Season Passes then kickstarted games. Next we will pay for promising game developer's tuition before they even make games.

Where the hell is the OT?

OTs one day before release suck but having to wait longer sucks even more

Season passes were here to stay looooonnnngggg before Arkham Knight was even a twinkle in Rocksteady's eye.

Yea...I think "Harley DLC" is just code for Steam saying it's the preorder version of the game.

You lump Kickstarter there like it's a bad thing, when it already delivered plenty of amazing games that would never had happened otherwise.

I love these two shots from the trailer.

I don't know, it's hard to quantify review scores and boil them down so simply. Any number of things could have affected the reviewer's score, franchise fatigue, how they feel the actual rating should be handled, ect. I mean, 7/10 is not a bad score by any stretch its just that so many of us have been accustomed to the fact that 8-10 is good/great and 1-7 is for mediocre/shit games.

I remember when 1-3 was terrible, 4-5 was average, 6-7 was above average and 8-10 meant the game was truly special.

Blame the american schooling system for that. I hate the 7-10 grading scale a lot of people seem to believe in thanks to it.

I'm a kickstarter backer (about 5 games now), I am merely being a bit cynical about this whole investing-before-the-product philosophy we are seeing nowadays.

Nice trailer. I'll be in the minority and say I like Muse. They are really good live. And I actually like their new album. And I haven't liked anything they have put out in 9 years. This is their first album I think is decent. But out of all the songs they use, they go with Mercy? Should have used something like the Handler. Although maybe they are just going with the popular single.

I know its a long shot but does anyone here have any idea about PC version performance? Really confused between PC and PS4 version. I can play Witcher 3 at High/Ultra on 1080p on my PC, but that game is optimized pretty well.

You should have 2 keys. Main game + pre-order bonus. And you need to activate main game first. Did you do that?

Yeah, just found that on their site. Thanks.

Well, DF said the PS4 version is pretty rock solid. So, I'm not worried. If you were able to run W3 at high/ultra settings, you clearly have a decent PC that will be able to run this better than a PS4. There are also plenty of codes floating around in the buy/sell/trade thread from the NVidia offer, so you can get it for a good discount on PC.

Not sure I'm ready for another Arkham game. I'm getting the feeling of an Assassin's creed game where it seems like the developers are just begging us not to care about the story anymore since it's really just become a vehicle for the gameplay. While that gameplay is still outstanding, it's also the same as the other 3 games they have done.

I want to play it but I can see myself getting burned out very quickly this time. I would like to play another 4-5 hours of an Arkham game and that's probably it.

None what-so-ever. Worst case scenario, wait until the PC version unlocks and GAF impressions start appearing.

With any luck AK will have a built in benchmark like the other games, I definitely plan to do benchmarking before digging in.

That'll be a mystery until the game unlocks, unless the GeForce.com performance/optimisation guide is published first.

Gamespot is saying the limited edition was delayed too now. Mine shipped from Walmart already though. Unless it's specific retailers or regions.

Yeah its not delayed worldwide. Mine shipped from Amazon last night for delivery tomorrow and various GameStops have it as I've posted photos from employees through this thread.

Seems to be mainly a issue in the UK and Europe with the packaging causing a delay.

I believe that was for European orders, specifically Amazon UK and a couple others. My Amazon US order shipped so it seems to be ok over here.

Edit: Beaten by Simo but it made me anxious yesterday when I was searching. Just couldn't find anything US-related so I think we are good.

Sigh. Okay. Will wait for the steam unlock.

Just as I'm browsing this thread, my GMG key arrives in my inbox! Now to go home at lunch and get it preloading. Hopefully this will unlock at midnight or a little before like Origins did so I can play a little before bed.

Yeah we have a thread about it linked below and one gaffer based in the US got a email from Amazon that his order had been delayed and then cancelled but that seems more bad luck in that they didn't have sufficient stock to fill his order rather than a major delay thats affecting Europe.

Ah, ok. Whew. I figured if some orderes went through they might be offered a replacement or something anyway. Tomorrow feels so far away.
