He's got a likeable face.

Note to self: Don't joke with comic book fans.

Good lord, I don't care about the timeline.

It wasn't a complaint. It was a joke, a pretty obvious one. Then I even said as much in the part you just quoted. Somehow, you still missed it. Go find your sense of humor. Then come talk to me.

Haha the guy on the humor campaign here sounds like the most perturbed dude in the thread.

Maybe I don't give two shits about Cap 2.

Maybe in this context you should. They picked a pair of comedy TV show directors who then hit a sequel to Cap out of the ballpark and now have the reins to Marvel's largest pair of movies, The Avengers.

Maybe just maybe Marvel has a plan here and doesn't need a big name director trying to add their own special touch.

Bruh. It's Spider-Man.

I'll still watch it on Netflix as I said. I already only watch one or two films at theaters per year anyway as its not really my thing and there are far too many superhero movies now to keep up with.

Don't have much excitement over a teenage Parker again. Actor looks like Puny Parker as they would say so I guess that's something. Hope its a success for the new generation and for Sony's sake, they sure need the money.

Best wishes.

I don't really think of this character as a kid anymore. Are they doing another origin movie?

Nope
“In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics,“ Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, told CraveOnline in a one-on-one interview at today’s junket for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“It will not be an origin story,“ Feige continued. “But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”

They must have some productive meetings in Hollywood. They go from having the guy from the FaceBook movie to some other random star no one has ever heard about.

I guess if you can spend that much money on a film you can afford to do whatever you want.

I guess I felt better about Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire and the early 2000's cast.

This new stuff is like fitting a dog in a dress.

Kid looks like a nerdy teenager. Check,. Director has nothing particularly offensive on his resume, no moreso than the Russos or James Gunn. Check.

Fine. All fine. Casting means relatively little if the film itself is garbage

If you feel better about the Seabiscuit guy in his mid 20s playing Spiderman rather than an actual teenager that's your hang up dude.

Don't know what to think about the director. Never heard of him or seen any of his work.

Me too, we know it can work, just look at characters like Hit Girl. But they had to find a middle ground due to pushback of going too young.

They could still do a kid Nova film at some point. It's only a matter of time before Marvel does their own Sharkboy & Lava Girl kind of film to get the younger audience.

Please, no. They should use Ms. Marvel, Araña, Runaways, Young Avengers or Avengers Academy.

Well there is more than teenager Peter Parker..you know he does age in the comics.

I get that but

1. He's white in the comics so I'm not sure why there was any need to mention that.
2. As stated before, we've barely had a look at a real teenage Parker. Garfield was old and already graduated by ASM 2 and Tobey Spidey graduated in the middle of the first movie.

I'm sorry the hardcore Spider-Man fan loves his teenager years.

Never watched a movie with this kid, but people putting him down for being an unknown are beyond whack. Since when does that dictate acting ability?

I have no idea who he is but he fits the Peter archetype I guess.

And he is short so as a short dude that's kinda cool.

Bring it on.

Haha. Hey, as far as I'm concerned all of those could work.

All I'm saying is: Harry Potter. Does Marvel have what it takes to get together a young cast and stick with them through a series of films and a storyline that can unfold (and age in front of our eyes) over many years like that? I would LOVE to see them try it.

This kid is going to be asked to be the major actor in six or more movies that will likely all gross over a billion. My guess is they did due diligence and found a guy who can act.

We love his married life. His teenage years are nonexistent in comparison.

This. You only get so many people on board with his films when he's young like that. Make him just a tad older IMO. I might skip the high school film.

To me he wasn't some dorky high school student during Civil War.

Interesting résumé...

I really liked this movie. So this guy puts on a clown suit but he cant take it off and it slowly transforms him into a demon. Its pretty gory as well. Had a really good time with this.

Nah clearly he sucks. He hasn't been in much, clearly no one who is any good wouldn't have already had major success at 19.

There's no reason to believe he is any good at all.

Where's his Wonder Boys or Social Network hmmm?

/s

I don't know. They would have to do annual or biannual sequels for a Harry Potter approach to work.

You know how people age naturally right

And there's going to be multiple films over a number of years right

But part of the reason why it was such a big deal in Civil War was because Spidey had been around for at least 10 years.

And also it's not following the comics.

Of course and the invention of Hollywood has made it possible to skip all that and go straight to what's good.

RIGHT. They are cashing in on the major comic entries or arcs.

No one's blood boils thinking about how this is all going to play out?
