SHENMUE 3 kickstarter (PC/PS4) - FINAL DAY - NEW KS RECORD GO GO GO!

I don't think that $10,000 is too much to ask to become an NPC in the game. I'm sure there's a few fans ready to put down that much cash for such an opportunity, and I wouldn't want more than a few walking around 1980's China anyway.

Right?

I would absolutely set it up on the street and ask people, "would you like to try a game of Lucky Hit? How about a game of Lucky Hit?"

Hot damn, i'd honestly go to my parents and be like:

"14 Years Ago, I witnessed a man get from Hong Kong to Guilin with nothing but the clothes on his back and his Lucky Hit Machine. I don't need to find a job because I have found my goal in life...to track down Lan Di and bring him to justice!"

...before my dad beats me and tells me to stop being crazy with my money.

P.S: Everyone voted for Lucky Hit as their Best Game, right? Thought so.

Which reward would you like to have for - 80 USD, and for 750 USD? No step in between. So this Kickstarter management sees its future in increasing the 800 USD backer tier? Seriously? Have you ever talked to anyone who has managed a Kickstarter before? Do you want to scare all word of mouth entries that are supposed to fill this campaign for the coming 20 days - before you start encouraging people to up their pledges? Do i see myself sinking 800 USD into this project at any stage? Do more than 1% of the pledgers?
you may want to refresh the survey. there were options for 80, 100, 200, 300, 400, etc when i filled it out.

What do they mean by "physical" journal? The same kind of book you could flip through in the previous two games? Because that's kinda an essential feature. It wouldn't be Shenmue otherwise.

Edit - Oh, sorry, I get what it means. An actual real life journal.

Lan DI !!!

Also, to be fair. The Kickstarter needs more high tier options. It goes from $500 to $3000 right now with no in between or above. The Kickstarter has plenty of tiers leading up to $500.

yeah, i think the point that the kickstarter has been less than adequate is well and truly hammered home.

it's time to be positive and keep pushing towards the next stretch goals, as well as sharing memories of the old games and hopes for the new one

it may just be coincidence but i always notice an upswing in pledges when this thread is positive.

Shenmue 3 is actually going to happen, but 95% of people are just moaning about how the campaign looks and how it won't be a record smashing Kickstarter.

The game is actually going to exist. This is amazing. Yes, it'd be nice if it had some more cash, but it's happening!

A $5,000-ish tier where you could provide in game voice overs for NPC's would be a good way of boosting funding. And instead of flying out to LA or wherever it is game voice casting is done you simply send an audio message to YS online after getting your lines. It would save YS the cost of dedicated audio studios to record speech audio.

Ha ha, zing! :)

Kicktraq is now projecting a finish between $4.6M and $6.1M. I think if they do these new rewards properly, increase the level of communication and we get a nice final push then we can definitely get towards the upper end of that range.

Someone posted on the Kickstarter page that Shenmue is already the 13th highest funded campaign which puts things in perspective. I think a nice goal will be to displace Bloodstained at $5.6M as the most funded game and #8 overall.

Haha, yeah, they've used stuff I said early on too!

Yeah, I'd like to see some extra tiers soon. hopefully they're working on some higher end tiers and maybe even trying to get a physical PS4 tier in the pipeline, as it seems like a lot of people want that. Anyway: TIER IDEAS

$60 - Physical PS4
$100 - Limited Edition Physical PS4 w/ Backer Exclusive Case
$800 - Exclusive Nozomi, Ren, Joy and Lan Di capsule toys + kitten in box plushie
$1000 - High Quality Ryo Hazuki Jacket Replica
$1500 - High Quality Phoenix Mirror Replica w/ name engraving / backer number on back
$2000 - Help design a custom in-game jacket / item of clothing Ryo can wear
$2500 - Help Design & create a unique capsule toy that can be won in-game
$3000 - As Above only we will send you a fully 3D model replica of your capsule toy
$4000 - Help Design & Name an in-game NPC in collaboration with Ys Net
$5000 - Voice an in-game NPC that will be fully integrated in the world who Ryo can talk to

They don't have to do them all and some could be limited maybe, but there's a few ideas.

They added the jacket and have now referenced the replica mirror and the NPC stuff. Now for those custom capsule toys and kitten in a box plushie...

Someone help me sort this out. In an interview recently, Suzuki said he wanted to drastically cut down the number of characters in the game to about 10 (can't find source right now). But then he said in the AMA that, "Choubu is a riverside village with lots of shops, souvenir stores, hotels and temples." That implies more than 10 characters, right? I mean somebody has to run all those establishments.

So I guess we should assume that by "10 characters" he means 10 main characters. And that means the NPC reward tier is likely not for one of those 10 characters.

Got my Dreamcast and Shenmue today, woop woop! Only ever played it at a friends, never owned a Dreamcast. Got a bit of a steal at £39. Seller wanted a local pickup only on EBay but I asked if I arrange a pickup would he be okay, he was. £7.49 for me to arrange delivery.

Copies of Shenmue alone are rocketing up to that kind of price. Doubt I'll get the sequel for a while, auctions over £70 :|

DC has a little yellowing at the font, going to attempt to clean it up.

Also, compatible with Windows CE, lol.

Looking forward to something in between the "Telltale reimagining" of Shenmue 3 with 10 characters and "truly open world" [sic!], and Im not sure where my threshold for, "oh let Sony fill it up to 6 Mio." lies.

If you have not grasped it so far - the intent is to get a whole new generation of gamers interested in Shenmue - who faked excitement on several reaction videos on youtube, because somehow they felt, they were expected to - and now slowly might be loosing any interest.

Who could blame them? From what they have seen so far.

You and I pledged. Yes.

I just ordered a DC as well, and dug out my copy of Shenmue. But I'm worried that it'll be an inferior experience after playing on an emulator with a wireless 360 controller. That right joystick for looking around is just huge, and I haven't been tethered to a console in so long.

If done right the mirrors could be a really nice reward and give a good boost to the Kickstarter.

And we'll finally get to see if the mirrors are actually reflective or not.

Shenmue had mirrors in some areas, and they worked so well because they actually rendered an entire room and characters on the other side of the mirror. That probably wouldn't work with something in a character's hand that can be moved around.

I don't think my PC could run it great, so I'm just happy to get to play it. Controllers are a little strange lol.

Somewhere in the loft I have an older Panasonic TV I'll hook it up to. Play in the intended aspect ratio and resolution.

Shenmue 2 on the Xbox is going a bit cheaper than DC. I'd prefer to own it on DC though, just feels right.

The thing with tweeting Gio Corsi is, even though he's third-party relations, it's up to SEGA at the end of the day. And if they don't want to make the jump on Shenmue and Shenmue II after this Kickstarter we'll probably never get them.

I think Shenmue I and II HD is pretty much a done deal. It's just a question of when.
