Warner Brothers suspends [new] purchases for PC version of Batman Arkham Knight

It looks like it is still being advertised for nvidia cards . Just checked ebuyer.

I wonder what nvidia will do about this.
(Got it free with my gtx 970 and it's really bad!)

The same they did with AC:Unity (wich still misses the promised tessellation patch, btw): nothing

But! But! Consumer outrage and whining does not matter?

I hope all the tools saying this in the future would finally shut up. Though i think the whole xbone fiasco was enough empirical proof.

I think it mattered a lot less in the past. Customer's voices could be drowned in advertising and PR noise. But now, with social media and internet in general being so widespread, it's a lot harder to sweep your shit under the rug.

I really wish I didn't go against my better judgement bite on the season pass Monday because of GMG's having it for 40% off. I wonder what WB might do to compensate people who don't get a refund or when it's re-released, of course assuming they do anything.

Shadow of Mordor was a good PC port though.
It was so good I could run it at High Settings+30 FPS lock and had no issues.
I could play with unlocked framerate but it would fluctuate and not stick at 60 FPS.

It just baffles me how they couldn't get the same people who did Mordor to do the Batman AK port, or at least make the port to similar quality as Mordor :/

Shadows of Mordor was made by Monolith who is primarily a PC developer, they handled the PC version and I imagine it was the lead platform and ported it to consoles. Arkham Knight seems to have moved to PS4 as lead at some point.

Do you guys expect that people that already own the game will get some kind of compensation, like free dlc or another WB game? Ubisoft did it with unity, so it happened before.

They didn't have to outsource the port for that, since Monolith Productions has a long history of PC development. Apparently the console ports were outsourced.

Between this and Skyrim paid mods- PC is the one platform where consumers can revolt and win, for better or worse.

If iron Galaxy has any sort of rep after this it would be quite a feat. Suspending sales is crazy

I doubt this can be really placed on them. They were only given 8 weeks to do a full PC port. Usually QA testing takes longer than that.

Only the last gen versions were outsourced from according to the Wiki for the developer who did the last gen ports.

This has been debunked, they've apparently been involved for like five months.

However messed up the situation is, you have to admit WB has been handling it well so far. Pulling it from sale, honoring refunds, taking responsibility.

This is a great move. Hopefully this means they'll take it back and give it more time and resources. I'm happy waiting a couple of months or more (if it even takes that long) for a good version or the game.

How on earth did this thread turn into some beat off contest about platform sales?

Oh, some uninformed person posted negative things about the PC platform as a whole? OK.

There are already two interesting entries in SteamDB

  • Zep-MS17_0.01-WBQA-PC_1085259-06_24_2015_Auto
  • Zep-MS16_0.19-WBQA-PC-FullPatchRC4-4US_1083639-06_20_2015_Auto

Is that appearance of these entries an indicator that this will be released soon?

I think (and this is speculation) that they only take responsibility because a significant number of people started to request (and get!) refunds for the game. So my praise go to valve and their new system and not to WB, tbh.

It's certainly a catalyst, no doubt about that, but WB still had to make the grand decision to pull it from sale to prevent others from purchasing it until its fixed. They could have easily made the public apology and vowed to fix it, but keep it on sale and let uninformed people still purchase it.

Avelanches most recent game Just cause 2 was a great PC port, but that was published by square-enix, and they tend to have excellent PC ports. Don't know if just cause 2 was ported in house or not.

Man so weird JC2 seems so far in the past and now we're getting 2 games from them within a few month period.

Not really it just shows that they are working on something and testing it. But as you can see there is Patch that was in Release Candidate phase 5 days ago that probably never went up. And there is patch sent to testing yesterday.

I wouldn't be surprised if Valve told them to pull it down or they'd pull it down actually.

Very nice indeed. Of course they got themselves in this situation, but what they are doing now deserves praise. Well done WB.

Was it not rocksteady that outsourced the development to IG? WB were just the publishers no?

Always assumed the role of the publisher is to just get the game out there and trust that the devs did all the qa.

WB owns the game, they own the rights, they likely control a lot of what goes on here. It could be that WB wanted a PC version at release when Rocksteady couldn't do it themselves, so they hired another team to do it.

WB pays Rocksteady's wages, they pay Iron Galaxy's wages.

This game even tried to bite me in the ass at work.

Had a recent customer come back who I built a custom PC for saying the new batman game runs really badly and that he was disappointed. Said I lied about how it would be able to play anything out there.
Luckily I could show him all the posts about people with the same issue, think I'll forward him this news so he knows I'm not bullshitting him.

Gad damn.

(We're talking i7 4790k OC'd /16GB Mem/SSD/980)

I'm both glad we're at a time where devs/pbulishers are getting punished and forced to do stuff like this, hopefully it was those of us who voted with our wallets.
The other side of both is that I'm not glad we're still getting publishers and devs who think they can release unfinished products on us, it happens ALL THE TIME and this is just the next level of it.

It's good to see WB taking the right action and removing it from sale until it's fixed.

I really think it'll probably take them a few days to even figure out what's wrong with game let alone start patching it, although I would expect a small patch in the next couple of days to fix the main issues of missing assets like AO, Rain textures, etc. and then after maybe a week or two I would expect a patch to fix performance issues and texture pop-in and so forth.

I pissed but if all this is swept under the rug and in 2/3 weeks we have a game as stable as city/origins then I'll be ok with this, as it really is a great game it's just been destroyed by this atrocity of a pc port.

They attempted to sell a completely broken game, and when under considerable backlash, later recalled said broken game instead of suffering endless steam refunds and negative PR.

That's hardly worth praising. I'd call it damage control.

Wowwwwwww. That's a huge move. A good move, shows they are Tajik g it seriously.

I'm about 10 hours in and not having any real issues at all (except for what's missing in terms of effects) so I do hope they doesn't interrupt my playing.

Surprisingly I have locked 30 fps with a 2 gb 680gtx at 1080p only lacking AO and dynamic rain spec layer.

But I can't play at 30 fps so I will wait for a real patch that makes SLI usable and locked 60 fps achievable.

After having continuously played from start to end the three previous games at locked 60 fps (using downsampling and physx effects), entering one of the fights in AK at 30 fps is like watching another person play. It is not enjoyable at all, for me.

I find really tiresome to launch a new AAA game to find problems that low-budget indie games do not have. I mean, nobody is able to see the intro videos are a stuttering mess? I'm talking about WB and rocksteady logos that are the first thing you see when you start the game. It's fucking terrible someone sells something with problems in the first second of use.
