Persona 5 Trailer 2

Why are people complain on the lack of info? Do you want them to spoil the game or something? I'm sure as we get closer to fall they'll show more stuff but I'd rather them show as little as possible.

Yep. I'm totally fine with this trailer, and fine with them not showing off much of the game. So many developers will talk about their game for so long and show off so much that the hype has died down when the game is actually released, and people go in knowing a lot about exactly what to expect.

For a game like Persona 5, I really don't need to see that much to be convinced.

Fo sho. When they announce the release date, I'm gonna unsub myself from all Persona threads and stop reading anything Persona related until I've got the game in my hands

Yeah I'm fine with no more info. Excited for a release date + pre orders though!

It is not impossible... but very unlikely.

What's funny is that Atlus Japan is kind of an anomaly among popular Japanese developers that haven't come to Steam yet. Before it used to be the opposite.

It's one heck of a world when Idea Factory beats you to the punch on recognizing a market though. I won't let them live that down. :P

Now now, while I do agree that a PC release would be swell let's not mix up it up with them needing a PC release as much as the others. But it would be fun as hell to see how people not used to the Atlus tax would react.
But man, having releases for Linux would be a dream come through....like 10 years after a Windows release perhaps.

I hope Atlus joins on steam at some point. When I look at steamspy sales for JRPGS although not massive it seems like it's never insignificant. That said I don't have any idea of how expensive some of these ports are.

LOL just beautiful

You know, I wonder if dividing up in dungeons could be a much more used feature this time around, since we've seen a fair amount of footage of the MC running around alone. I'd assume it would just be for an intro dungeon, but since heists are a big part of the game, I think dividing up to do different tasks could actually be a bigger feature this time.

The intersting thing is that when MC is alone he has a lot more HP than when he is with the group. It could be some sort of intro but your theory might also be true.

Being able to split up later in the game would be cool for some story and gameplay reasons. Every character having a different way of sneaking around and all.

Would be cool if, in the much later dungeons, you could like have the characters not in your party do the solo stuff. Would be a fun way to level them up without having to get grindy.

But yeah, after GTA V I'm convinced more games need to allow you to split up and regroup. That mechanic is one I'd love to see in more and more games.

Personally, I don't want info on the game. No character stuff, story stuff is needed. I wouldn't mind a few OST sample, but I could live without that as well. I just want a release date.

Just a release date, and 2 minutes of the game live in a dungeon fighting random fights is all we want.

For Persona 4 all the characters weren't revealed before release were they? Persona 3 had that long promo video which was also nice. I like how Atlus does this. :)

I'm inclined to agree with you, no point for JRPG with turned based systems to be 60FPS. Though I wouldn't complain if it was.

Technically, it should be able to and that's all that matters. Any game benefits from 60fps if it's possible and it really should be for this game on the PS4. It doesn't appear to do anything innovative graphically and I've seen far more impressive technical games on the PS3.

It would be a shame for them to not optimise this enough on the PS4 to get 1080p/60fps.

Not saying the PS4 can't do it, I just don't see why they would when the game looks fine at a locked 30FPS. Yes it will would look better at 60FPS, but if it's not gonna benefit the gameplay I doubt they are gonna seek that. Hopefully they do, I just doubt it.

Again this is a PS3 game ported to PS4, so 1080p/60FPS is certainly possible if games like GoWIIIR and TLoUR can do it, but those are both action games which will benefit more with increased frame rate.

60fps will definitely improve the gameplay of any game over 30fps regardless of genre. Trying to get golden shadows for example would be easier at 60fps than 30fps because of more responsiveness.

For Persona 5, navigating the traps or moving between cover will certainly be aided by 60fps over 30fps.

I also doubt they'll optimise it for 60fps and it will be a crying shame as it is certainly possible from the gameplay we've seen.

That's if Golden Shadows exist and if the traps and cover are difficult to navigate in the first place. Again, I don't think a JRPG is designed with 60FPS in mind. It would just make the game look a lot smoother. So aesthetically 1080p/60FPS would just make an already fantastic looking game look smoother and cleaner. That's the main benefit for a title like this.

I highly doubt 60FPS would improve dungeon exploring in any significant way, based on what we have seen. None of that dungeon crawling exactly looks difficult to get around in the first place.

Oh please. This isn't a twitch game. I'll agree the game would probably LOOK better, but given the style they are going for if we get a locked 30FPS with all that business going on I'm ok with that.

I think 60fps benefits everything, no matter the genre, but I also think it won't be 60fps, and I'm fine with that. I really didn't want to start this discussion, so can we please be done with it?

This game seems more active than past Personas with the dashing, traps, and platforming, so 60 FPS should improve the dungeon crawling. The game's art style would look even better too. P5 is nothing amazing graphically so they really should get to 60 FPS with ease, especially if Sony is assisting a bit with the port.

Also I really want to try a turn based RPG at 60 FPS for once.

Is this confirmed?

I'm just saying that it seems extremely likely that the PS4 could handle 1080p/60fps and Atlus should rightly be criticised if it doesn't perform at that standard as that means a shoddy port in my eyes.

Exactly. I'm mainly a console gamer and don't mind 30fps at all but ports of last gen games should be running at 1080p/60fps on the PS4, especially when they aren't taxing like Persona 5.

All I remember was that a few months before the PS4 version announcement at TGS, Atlus was talking about how helpful being with Sega could be when dealing with PS3, PS4, tools and middleware. How Sega has ported PS3 games to PS4, they have Yakuza games on both consoles, etc.

My guess is Sega will be helping with the PS4 port and if further help is needed as far as porting the engine, that Sony could help on the knowledge side. I don't expect Sony will have anyone working on the project outside of a tech-support role.
