Warner Brothers suspends [new] purchases for PC version of Batman Arkham Knight

You are having a different experience than most other people. So am I. My experience has been GREAT, but it's not like people are making up issues. Check out Salsa's videos for example. The port is a disaster overall.

Even though we seem to have gotten off lucky, most did not.

Where do I find these?

Performance really isn't all that bad once you get rif of the stuttering.

I have a 970 and 4790k and even turning everything down to Normal doesn't get me a consistent 60 FPS at 1080p when outdoors.

IMO this is a very different case from ubisoft games, the last 3 batman games had their share of problems at launch but they were nowhere near unplayable like this one, hence the reason people trust them and went ahead and pre purchase the game, i just think that people is still to salty with all of this that the hyperbole is getting out of hand, WB and RS made mistake if what it's been said is true about giving IG only 8 weeks to port the game, it is impossible to get a properly working product in that time frame and believe me when i say that they will learn from this a great deal because on the long run PC games is the platform that would always be profitable to publishers, when a game stops to be printed for consoles people rely on used copies and neither publishers or devs see a penny from it, they will always see money from PC games, so this will be a learning experience for WB, ubisoft on the other hand is a company that has built a reputation of lying to their consumers and anyone who preorder games from them knows exactly what they're getting themselves in to

well, none of what you said changes the fact that we shouldn't be preordering. As for Ubisoft games, they did "work". You can even make the argument that Arham Knight "works." The problem is the quality of the products they released. I was able to play watch dogs for example, the issue was that it stuttered like crazy and was an unpleasant experience. Should they really be releasing games in that state? It's like they just want to do the bare minimum to just be able to say that it works. Well personally I don't think that is good enough. How many people would have requested refunds for ACU or WD if they had the option at the time? I'd say a significant amount.

I want to see NVIDIA comment on this too and find out WTF happened between when those videos were made and now. Also going back and forth on whether I want to refund the season pass I bought from GMG for $24 or not. I was considering buying it when all the content was released to see if it was worth it and expected a sale on it by then since I got the game with my 970 but ehhhhh I should have waited another eight hours which would've given me some time with the game and everything first.

Nvidia so far:

- No statement about the promised AC:Unity tessellation patch (M.I.A.)
- GTX 970 3.5gb vram fiasco
- Nvidia driver 352.86, 353.06, 353.30 still stop responding and crash (kernel reloads). Nvidia still isn't able and willing to fix that problem. It is now a month old and people still complain about it on the official forums.

So I can give you a NVIDIA comment: We don't care, AMD is even worse so be gratefull.

I wonder if the DLC is going to get shelved as they fix the game like what happened with Unity. I shelled out for the premium version and I really want Batgirl. But that's secondary to getting a core game that works.

The fact it was removed from sale makes me think its going to be a long time before this is fixed. This doesn't seem to be a one or two patch fix.

Unity was broken on all platforms, this is specifically the PC version that is busted. The whole of Rocksteady will not be working on fixing the PC version, just as the whole of Rocksteady was never devoted to porting it in the first place. Some parts of RS will be collaborating on this technical fix with either Iron Galaxy or whomever they replace them with, while separate parts of the team continue to work on DLC. Parts of RS are probably already in preproduction on their next game.

The game also looks pretty great.

So does The Witcher 3, GTA V, Metro Redux, and a host of games that can easily run at 60 FPS on my set up.

If your game can't hit 60 FPS on PC at low settings, on the third most powerful GPU in Nvidia's lineup. Then it has shit performance.

You mean do it themselves like in past and not farm it out?

Yes. I still canno't believe they put a project of this magnitude in the hands of some second-rate "external PC development partner".

The fact it was removed from sale makes me think its going to be a long time before this is fixed. This doesn't seem to be a one or two patch fix.

I really don't care if this takes 6+ months to come out completely fixed. At least it would be worth buying by then.

Unprecedented move...especially since 98% of my current playthrough was JUST FINE. Game is extremly far away from any sort of "unplayable state", but they thought that their customers deserve better. So... MAJOR kudos to them.

In the last few years Ubi, Blizz and EA straight up released totally UNPLAYABLE games on PC and almost never bat an eyelid when their communities went apeshit.

I need to go look for videos of people who are complaining, because I've been able to play this game just fine on a 980. It for sure has issues. Obviously there should be all the same features enabled and more compared to the PS4 version. It obviously shouldn't take some big frame hits at times. I'm close to turning off the Gameworks smoke so that Imy frames don't nose dive for a second or two when smoke pours out of the bat mobile.

But, what I did is change the INI back to 30 and I've been playing and really enjoying the game. Maybe I'm just not having the unplayable issues others are or, more likely, I'm more tolerant of this stuff since I'm been gaming from back when you were represented on screen by a square.

Good they pulled it until they can figure out how to get something that is more satisfying to more people, though.

can't believe it even got out the door in this state.

Hopefully this whole debacle puts the fear of god in them and every other publisher on that if they want PC money, they need a product that works. I can't imagine this happens again.

Anyway, GMG processed my refund. I was super excited for this game but I was telling myself to wait for the GOTY or complete addition in a few Steam sales but I still went through with it because of how many people were loving on it. Can't do it anymore. I've already dropped pre-orders from my gaming life. Day 1 purchases are gone now too. Even with this quick response, WB letting it get this bad has nuked my trust of all publishers.

Looks like that refund system is working. Shame that this had to be the testing ground, but hopefully it'll be a warning to not release borked ports, Ubisoft.

I was playing for a few hours last night and yeeeaah it's pretty painful. All the effects turned off and it skips and chugs all over the place on a rig that should handle it no problem.

Then it flat out crashed. Not like, just closed. This fucking game had a reactor meltdown. Both my monitors go black for about a minute, then text errors start flooding in and my entire pc is unresponsive stuttering garbage for another 2 minutes as I try desperately to open the task manager.

You know something is wrong when even the crashes are so fucked.

GMG is doing refunds for the season passes as well?

I bought that for $24 since the game was free but I feel they dont deserve any of my money at this point.

gotta take some time to decide, then

My experience is far from unplayable but it's also far from acceptable with what i'm throwing at it

this is what MK10 for PC would do to me

game would crash and i'd just be staring at a PC with an explorer.exe that had apparently signed a suicide pact with MK10.exe

Warner must have whooped developers ass due to this. And Iron Galaxy is probably DEAD/soon to be dead.

lmao

they got that divekick money

IG aint goin anywhere

I am on the fence about getting a GMG refund. I got a good price on one hand, on the other they did try and tell us that minimum requirements needed the game to run at 720p.

Even though I have to turn everything off or on low and play in a window at a sweet sweet 20 frames per second, can't stop this train.

I'm already invested in the story and I can't stop now for a fix that may come sometime in the future.

It's playable and aside from a couple hick ups in play and a couple annoying bugs, at least it's playable.

Sad to think I'll probably have it beat before they even announce a time frame for their mega patch. Oh well at least I'll be able to play the DLC in a better way.

Thank god this is finally over with. Submitted my refund request from GMG, and going to find a used copy of Arkham Knight this weekend.

Steam refunds were a godsend. I don't think this would have happened without them.

Dear WB, to not be in this mess again next time hire this studio for your PC ports
wkFP814.jpg

yeah. It's time to not treat PC ports like second class citizens or an afterthought.

Nixxes produce great ports for sure. Wonder why they didn't get to port Human Revolution DC though :(. Glad they're doing Mankind Divided and the new Tomb Raider as well. At least Square Enix seems to care about the quality of their PC ports

Edit: Looking at it, it kinda seems like they have a longterm relationship with Eidos / Squenix, wouldn't be surprised if they kept porting their releases.

Pretty honorable of them to suspend the sale of this game. Of course this could have been avoided if they properly ported and tested the game..

This is what needs to happen.

Arkham City was hardly the most fabulous port in the world, either.

Not that I'm saying AK is anywhere near it on a scale from Saint's Row 2 to Crysis 3, but let's not pretend like throwing rocksteady at it is going to magically make it an amazing experience on PC.

Warner just needs to give someone enough time and money to do a proper job, and not farm it out to the lowest possible bidder then throw it out on day 1 regardless of whether or not it was ready. Be it Iron Galaxy, Rocksteady, Nixxes, or fucking Valve themselves, the fact is that Warner knew the port was garbage and released it anyways, and that's on them more than any one else as they as both the publisher of the game and the copyright holder of the IP are ultimately responsible for seeing that the product that lands in consumer's hands is up to par.

It's missing AO, the AA doesn't work properly, textures aren't loading properly, face works is completely missing, rain effects on objects is completely missing, npcs will clip through objects such as the ground and it runs nothing like the in game benchmarks show.

You have a very odd view of "pretty great".

I got it from Nvidia, I'm gonna have to pay for the real version when it's released, right?

I don't want to jinx it, but WB is going to be scrutinized to a high degree when this is re-released. Any negatives will be thrust into the light — they can't afford (well, maybe they literally can) to further neglect their PC customers.

All PC games and season passes go on deep sales eventually. Anyone on the fence or looking for a refund should just go for it. Especially the season pass because right now it's worthless and WB might give that to current owners as an extra apology. Don't expect this, but it happened before with AC Unity. If the game does get fixed and you want to jump back in, grab the pass during a future sale.

what? of course not, you think because the game came with the graphics card than it was free? how much did you payed for the graphics card? lots of money

His question might seem crazy, but considering the console version is objectively better than the PC version right now is crazy too.

WB inadvertently lived up to the series' "Arkham" branding.

Holy Cooter, I didn't know this was a persistent issue dating back 3 drivers. I've had my driver "recover" almost every time I've used my pc the last couple of months.

It's been the driver the whole time. I had a stable OC that I've been down clicking because I thought that was the fault yet I still get my driver failure issue daily.

And then AK crashes and says my GPU has been unplugged and that long ass error log white window comes up.

How disappointing.

one thing has nothing to do with the other, you are talking about being charged twice for a product you already own, yes, the PC version is terrible but this has nothing to do with you paying again for the game, it was a bad decision they made on the developers they chose to do the port and they have acknowledged that and the fact the game has been removed from various retailers and etailers for sale speaks volumes of them owning to their mistake, to think we will have to pay again is ludicrous

Why Iron Galaxy accepted WB's money to port this large scale game in alleged 8 weeks time if they knew it would be impossible to do it properly in the first place? They should have turned down the deal but took the responsibility anyway.

Just to warn people, this is a grey market seller. There is no guarantee these keys won't be removed from Steam if they are found to have been purchased or acquired fraudulently.

I hear people say that here, but has anybody had a key from them actually be revoked? If so, did they fix it?

I was a bit sketchy about buying the season pass from them, but it activated just Fine. I went through with the sale because they have a very high trustpilot rating.Google was unable to provide any good evidence one way or another.

I'm pretty sure Nixxes has a long term/exclusive contract with Square. They've been doing every PC port for Crystal Dynamics since Soul Reaver 2.

Have they ever ported anything by another publisher?

Silver lining.

People who didn't buy the seasons pass are probably going to get some dlc out of it for free, or a nice discount apology. This tactic is known as "ubisofting"

At the moment they are doing Tomb Raider port only to 360, no PC version in works. At least this is according their website.

Untick "Use hardware acceleration when available" in Chrome's advanced settings menu, fixed it for me.
