I expect over the Twitch session the amount might raise $20,000 - $50,000 depending on how it goes and the advertising around it.

I definitely agree! The updates this week (including this) are surely a good sign for the rest of the campaign!
That would be amazing if it could pull in at least that much, as we need some help filling in the gap between the stretch goals that we are currently in.

Excited to see! I think this is definitely the best thing to happen to the campaign since the jacket.
He could just be sitting there with his interpreter answering questions.

Excellent news, shame it'll be too late for me to watch it live, where I am.
They need to start opening up a little on what Shenmue III actually is and allay some of the fears of the '$10m or bust' gang. They can't go back on it, the $10m figures out there, but they should try to pull the focus away from it. Firstly outline what the current vision for Shenmue III will be with the current funding, afterall they have over 180% of their funding goal already.
Then talk a bit about Baisha village, they almost certainly don't have anything running in game yet but they should have concept art, maybe talk about what sort of place it is and then give a more fleshed out explanantion of what the Baisha Village expanded stretch goals would entail.
Also I hope they do this every week throughout the campaign including a final day livestream. That'll give them 4 oppurtunities to engage more directly with the community.

Yes, Shenmue has always been very much about PLACE and I think getting people excited about the game's unique setting is very important.

New goals and tiers won't make a huge difference imho.
Shenmue fans were ready to pledge this the instant it was announced and at this point i assume they all did.
Some may up their pledge, but there's only so much 50.000 persons can do.
Now they need to lure in other people. They need to go viral and show the world what's Shenmue.

The first game sold over 1M copies. No way there's only 50k fans.

I'm a big fan of the first game and never got to play the second. I can't see myself contributing to this, even for the "cause", without being able to play the first two games again for a reasonable price.
You can find an original XBox console and a copy of Shenmue 2 for somewhere between 100 and 150 USD.

any kind of rerelease is unfortunately in sega's hands.
resale value of the first two games have gone up since the announcement, so i wouldn't be able to say you could get them cheaply either.
what i will say this that a successful shenmue 3 kickstarter is more likely to change sega's mind on a rerelease than anything else.
and hey, there's going to be over two and a half years before this game comes out. that's plenty of time for sega to get off their asses or for the resale markets to regulate themselves back down again. the here and now is making this the best game it can be.

Should we make another thread for Yu Suzuki going on Twitch? It's kind of a big deal. New news new thread right? I feel like the more people know about it the better. Every little bit helps! If it gets locked - well we tried. I'd make the thread but I'm on my mobile and my wi-if keeps cutting out.
Wait until closer to the event. Much better chance of staying open. Putting it up now might just be too much Yu on one page.

Do you have a 360? It's backward compatible so you can play it there as well without buying an OG Xbox.

Probably worth making a thread in about 16-18 hours time or so to give people a fair warning and covering most timezones for maximum replies/bumps! Plus the thread remaining relevant on the lead up to the stream.
In the mean time, for anyone who hasn't got anything going on make some sweet graphics with time zones for the Stream etc

Do note that Shenmue II experiences significant problems being played on the 360 however, but is playable to the end.
And RE:Make. But you get great versions of RE2 and 3.
