Persona 5 Trailer 2

Since this time it looks like our party's Personas are Crime-themed, i'm curious to see which other famous historical thieves they could use.
Bonnie&Clyde? Al Capone? Robin Hood?

So what do we know about Arsene and how does he represent wrath?

What he says in the pv is pretty telling that he represents wrath ("punishment" "justice"). That fact too that he is mostly red(colour for wrath) and looks like Satan who is the patron demon of that sin makes it very possible.

The obvious guess would of course be that the main character is greed because he's a thief, but I'd like to think that they're not that lazy and are throwing a curveball, with the thing going deeper than that.

Could also be hollow (cavum), as in empty, zero, like a wild card.
If he was hollow then there was room for 7 party members representing the sins, and one antagonist (void).

I could see arguments for the MC being Greed, Cavum (emptiness), Pride, or Wrath.

Mm, well Pride is putting yourself above other, to think you're basically hot shit...why not a spa, or some place similar. Vanity and Pride usually go hand in hand.

Pride is the deadliest sin so it would be most fitting for a final dungeon, and the protagonists are making themselves into high profile targets, something they wouldn't need to do if the enemy wasn't a large, untouchable public entity. Given how Arsene talks about punishing blasphemers, I'm like 90% sure the main villain will be a large corporation, ala SEBEC.

For those that hadn't seen it before, this was pretty good.

Oohh that would make sense too! It'd also fit with it there being a kind of "chaos" and "law" ish thing. Obviously our crew is more on the chaotic side (but good) and the antagonist a lawful force. But, still with the themes of Persona and other SMT, the final big bad is probs gonna be some sort of supernatural god-like entity that represents humanity's need for controlling and oppressing others.

The MegaTen series already have a lot of demons that would fit the bill. There's Andromus from DemiKids, Todomeki from Summoner, Medusa, Hermes, the fairy Spriggan, Ongyo-Ki, Sui-Ki, Fuu-Ki, Mastema, Yama, etc...

I'd prefer the cast receive entirely new Persona. I would like to personally summon Mastema too.

I hope Shuffle Time is more like P4Golden rather than P4.

They've kept on improving it so I don't doubt if it returns it'll be even better.

Thank god you didn't link me to the uk store or I might have one clicked all of that...

Well then this and that too ;)
(Note this is not the original Vita with the OLED screen which makes the bright colours of P4G pop even more. However, it has better battery, comfort and a built in 1GB memory so you don't need to get a card if you want to buy P4G physical instead of digitally)

Nah but Persona 3 Portable for PSP could be fine, it's a great game though you will not get the whole picture (the presentation is more visual novel - you can't run around town like you can in the PS2 version, or like you can in Persona 4). Due to performance constraints by the system they had to cut a bit of stuff. The basis of most gameplay systems is still there though. It's just on the presentation front (no 3D models/going around the city, cutscenes, etc.) while Persona 4 Golden is more welcoming by modern standards being on Vita and all, but that's a much bigger investment, especially since your friend already has a PSP.

I think brand new Personas would be better.
Aside from the ones i already mentioned, other candidates could be Anansi, Billy the Kid and Ishikawa Goemon.

People are recommending you PS Vita for Golden but personally I prefer playing my games on big screen so I definitely would recommend you to consider
Playstation TV Price: £44.99
It's cheap and it's compatible with most of the PS Vita games, upscales the games to 720p or 1080i and you use it with Dualshock 3/4.
Should get you prepared for Persona 5.

Hold the friggin' phone.

They released something that lets you play Vita games on your TV? Is this compatible with PS3 or just PS4?

Bruh.

Its its own system. You can play PS1 games and stream PS4 games as well.

i've said this before but my god Sony did an absolute shit job advertising the existence of it.

They're porting all both of their good, unique games to PS4 anyway. Maybe I'll luck out and P4 Golden and the Danganronpa series will make the jump as well.

For one, there's no Vita game that's been ported to PS4 yet. Not even Uncharted or WipeOut 2048 or Killzone Mercenary. So I strongly doubt that, especially Danganronpa. The PS TV is the best bet, or otherwise hoping some day PS2 emulation makes it to PS4 which would let you play vanilla Persona 4.

Tearaway

Trailer was good. A bit short, but I've got to see battle in motion, so that's cool.
P5 continues to look stunning, Meguro keeps doing a fine job (I want to hear vocals!)
Hype levels rising.

One thing that I haven't noticed in PV1 is that Arsene's heels are actually knives.
And he attacks by doing a pirouette (or maybe a roundhouse kick would be better) and swinging his leg :P

Oh, and I love the animation when Atlus and P Studio logos appear.

Any guesses on the elemental affinity of Arsene? In part of the trailer when it awakens it looks like it releases a gust of wind, so maybe garu based?

Darn. After Orpheus and Izanagi it was kind of time for a Bufu or Garu elemental MC Persona.
With the giant wings I thought Garu would be a good fit, besides the predominantly red color scheme.

To be fair, though, the whole party's present in that screenshot, so this could be an Arsene that's used Skill Cards, or something.

Looks like spell effects are being heavily upgraded, though, unless they're just using a -Dyne level spell for the sake of a cool screenshot.
P3 and 4's magic effects always felt thoroughly underwhelming.

Magic becomes terrifying when you take on Elizabeth in P3.

You think they're bringing back Nuclear as an element?

It looks like Zionga or Ziodyne, to me.

I wouldn't mind if they expanded the elemental table a little, maybe bring back Earth/Magna, but I always thought "nuclear" was kind of a strange thing to consider an "element," and Almighty fills its role already, anyway.

It can be considered fact from the recent trailer that the party is up against not just the presence of shadows but also demons, like when we see Norn coming out of the torso of a (shadow?). Fighting Pyro Jack? That's P1/2 territory.

So this makes me think that Atlus wouldn't mind grabbing a bunch P1/2 assets and fit them in for P5. Hence the mention of Frei.

I will be pleasantly surprised if Frei and Gry come back. I too think that it looks something like Ziodyne the more I look at the pic, yet may be Freidyne based on the color of the blast/bolt.

I'm pretty sure it's been said that they are fighting persona, not shadows. Since it's been established shadows and persona are the same thing, it might just be a way to make the enemies we are fighting more interesting. I'm sure there is a story reason for it as well.

The interesting thing is that the trailer had both shadows and personas. The guards he fought were clearly shadows, what with the masks on their face. But as soon as one got ripped off, it became Norn, a persona.

We also see the MC trying to rip off a shadow's mask, so I think that one of the game's mechanics will be "stealing" personas away from shadows by tearing off their mask.

Unfortunately that was a reaction of the poor marketing for Vita. Can't much have an add saying "Now you can play Vita games on your TV! Wow!" because general populace will say "Vita? What's that?"
