SCOTUS strikes down gay marriage bans, legalizing marriage equality nationwide

According to the polls even that 'half' of the country isn't so hot on him.

They might not be hot on him but if he were to get nominated (as unlikely as that may be) this is one of those things that will rally the fuck out of the right. Republicans are going to exploit the hell out of the issue as they have in the past.

Half? Please tell me you are joking?

Maybe not him specifically and not exactly half but pretty much any Republican nominee and many will agree with him even if they won't come right out and say it and hide being the "state's rights" bullshit.

Gay marriage has come to America thanks to Ohio, BTW. Today's decision came on a case brought by an Ohioan, James Obergefell. The case's name is "OBERGEFELL, ET AL. v. HODGES, DIRECTOR, OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, ET AL."

The people against gay marriage who brought the state constitutional amendment to Ohio voters in 2004 that banned gay marriage actually caused the eventual legalization of gay marriage for the entire nation. Irony!

Suddenly, I feel proud to be an Ohioan.

But if I was of voting age in 2004 and voted against the ban, I would have been doing the wrong thing?

TIME PARADOX

Shit just got real

We don't want to murder the gay people, George.

My big brother just came out on Facebook, and it was due to this decision.

I am tearing up just because I am so happy that he doesn't feel the need to hide it anymore. I had no idea.

This last news I expected to day but damn if it isn't fucking fantastic news.
Is there a specific website where you guys are getting the images of couples?

Congrats USA.

Hoping this ruling pushes the fossils in my country's parliament (Australia) to follow suite given our populace majority supports a similar move. Not holding my breath though.

Seems pretty accurate to me (Birdo is a dude, actually)

A picture of Birdo, yeah, I could see that. But throwing Yoshi in there just seems kind of weird.

EDIT: Though, that could just be me over-analyzing things (probably is) and it's just a picture of Yoshi. So, uh, forgive any of my talks about it and just enjoy the picture?

Too bad that one subreddit to troll gaf was shut down. I'd very much like to taste their tears over this.. but I guess there's always Free Republic.

Homophobes have tried to make every facet of life difficult for me and I sure as fuck am glad they're having a bad day.

Since armageddon is coming, I wonder if I should just take the rest of the day off. Might as well be at the beach to see the fire and brimstone. Not like the A/C in here is going to do much.

I wonder if I worked for a really religious boss, then I'd actually be able to use that excuse. "Gotta call in sick, boss. The overwhelming stench of sulfur is really messing with my allergies."

Listening to the people opposing this decision is so much fun. But I need to stay away, otherwise I'll end up wasting my time arguing with idiots and trolls.

Texas is gay cowboy central. Not to mention our major metropolitan areas are liberal havens, or should I say, gayvens!

It's really the bumblefuck-nowhere areas that are conservative areas. If it weren't for all the gerrymandering, this would be a swing state if not fully blue.
I know, which is why it's always frustrating to read comments about Texas from people who have never set foot in the state.

Damn it why couldn't this come just before the Boston Pride Parade. Would have loved to have seen that.
Great news.

Many cities are having their pride weekends this weekend. Think Boston and Denver had theirs last weekend...and probably some others...majority are this weekend. So happy this decision came out today.

Can't wait to see which Republican Presidential candidates come out in favor of a constitutional amendment. The primaries are going to be super fun to watch.

Fucking yessssssssssssssssssssss. Congratulations to all you Americans. Truly the best of times to be alive, though everything is still far from utopian.

US Gay! US Gay! <3

I live in Cali. I'm waiting for the state to split in half at the San Andreas Fault.
